Hyderabad’s RGIA Becomes First To Facilitate E-Boarding For Domestic Flights

You can now finish the tedious and time taking boarding process from the comfort of your home, using just a smartphone.

As a step towards ‘Digital India’, Hyderabad’s RGIA is now the first airport in the country to offer E-boarding facility to domestic fliers.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Civil Aviation Minister inaugurated this facility today. Right from the entry into the terminal arena to boarding the actual flight, this new service covers all the boarding cards issued at the check-in counters, even the physical boarding passes issued by the CUSS (Common Use Self Service) machines.

With this in-house built facility, a domestic flier will only need a mobile E-boarding card and his/her Aadhar Card number to enter the airport.

The CEO of GMR Hyderabad Internaitional Airport Ltd., SGK Kishore said “We are happy to announce a comprehensive end-to-end E-boarding solution, first time at any Indian airport. After the successful pilot of the project and a go-ahead from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), we have used our internal capabilities to commence E-boarding (facility) in shortest possible time”

With the use of E-boarding card as a sole property in order to gain entry into the airport to boarding the flight, the security is also be made easy. The passenger is tracked throughout his stay in the airport through this E-boarding card. Since the entry of a passenger is time bound in line with the flight timings, the E-boarding reader will not allow passengers inside the terminal before the mentioned time. This will also avoid any congestion inside the airport.

While the traditional process of entering the airport by showing your photo-ID in place of Aadhar Card is still in place, this new feature is bound to ease your tension before you take off on that all-important journey.
