These Five Tamil Stars Make Awesome Singers. Period!!

Tamil films without songs are just unimaginable. The songs are what keep the tempo going and sometimes even revive a dwindling plot. Thus, actors, whether they like it or not have to lip sync to these songs to look convincing on screen.

And then there are Tamil stars who have not only lip synced to other singers’ voices but have actually crooned some songs themselves and that too awesomely well. They are truly multifaceted, we say!!

Five Stars in Tamil Who Can Also Become Seasoned Singers, Hands Down!!

Kamal Haasan

Rajinikanth

A multi talented actor, Ulaganayagan also happens to be a great singer. He debuted as a singer in 1975 with the song Nyayiru Oli Mazahaiyil from the film Andhagaram. In spite of having a different voice from the conventional singers, his singing talent was well accepted which is why he went on to sing many more songs like Thenpaandi Cheemayile for Nayakan, Anbe Sivam for Anbe Sivam, Unnai Kanaadhu Naan for Viswaroopam, Kaasumele for Kathala Kathala etc.

Vijay

Ilayathalapathy Vijay who has wowed the audience with his style, dance and fighting sequences has also proved himself to be a good singer. His first song was for the 1994 film Rasigan called Bombai City Sukkha Rotti. The song and his singing style was appreciated and there has been no stopping him ever since. He has recorded a number of songs for his films like Vaadi Vaadi for Sachein, Google Google for Thuppaki, Chella Kutti for Theri, Ullathai Killathe for Tamizhan to name a few.

Dhanush

Dhanush

Dhanush’s song Why This Kolaveri Di took the nation by storm. However, there are very few people who know that he has been doodling in singing ever since 2003 when he lent his voice to the song Naattu Sarakku for the film Puthukottayilirundhu Saravanan. The music directors realized his talent which is why he was roped in to sing songs like Kaadhal En Kaadhal and Voda Voda Dooram Korayalla for Mayakkam Enna, Why This Kolaveri for 3 etc.

Silambarasan

Silambarasan

Fondly known as Simbu, this multi faceted personality can also sing quite well. His song Loosu Penne from the film Vallavan was a chartbuster. But the first song that he crooned was for this film Sonnathaan Kaadhala called Chukkumala Chukkumala. Some of the other songs sung by him are Vechikkava for Silambaattam, Thathai Thathai for Manmadhan, Kuttipayale for Ingu Enna Sollathu etc.

Vikram

Vikram

Known to be an extremely versatile actor who has many power packed performances to his credit, Chiyaan Vikram has also proved himself to be a good singer. Some the songs sung by him are Pa Pa Pappa and Kadha Solla Poren for Deiva Thirumagal, Excuse Me Mr. Kanthaswamy and Mambo Maamiya for Kanthasamy, Laddu Laddu Rendu Laddu for Rajapattai, Meghame O Meghame for Madharasapattinam to name a few.

Actors like Sivakarthikeyan, Suriya, Siddharth, Vijay Antony and lately SJ Surya have also tried playback singing and succeeded. Here’s hoping that we see more of our actors displaying their hidden talents in front as well as behind the camera.
