Known as one of the oldest film awards in India, Filmfare is presented by The Times Group in order to honour both artistic and technical excellence in the film industries across India. Though the Filmfare South Awards started off late, the practice of giving away awards in Hindi and Telugu had existed ever since its inception in the year 1953.
Unlike the the National Awards, the Filmfare awards are voted by both, the public and a committee of experts from that respective language.
