There will be no cars in Paris on September 27th

On September 27th, there are going to be no cars on the roads of Paris.

Paris will have no cars on the roads, to give bikers and walkers an experience of the city without congestion, pollution, and noise. The most famous areas of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, the Bastille, and the Champs Élysées (which Kangana Ranaut had trouble pronouncing in Queen), are going to be without automobiles for a day.

Large metropolitan cities have been dealing with the problem of too many cars, and London and Los Angeles have long been working for a solution. A few years ago, Paris had experimented with taking half the cars off the road – by declaring a day for car numbers ending with Odd or Even numbers, but that wasn’t feasible.

It’s a great thought, and could be a welcome respite for the people of the city. Which leads us to the question – will something like this be possible in India?

Seems like a distant dream!
