Aamir’s pledge to make Maharashtra a drought-free state

Talking at the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup Awards 2016, Aamir Khan expressed his dream is to make sure the water crisis in Maharashtra is solved within a time period of five years.

The efforts of harvesting of various villages were considered in the competition by Paani Foundation. Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao, along with the team of  the TV show “Satyamev Jayate”, have formed the Paani Foundation which works in association with the state government to find ways to end water scarcity.
The competition was held from April 20 to June 5. The judgement was made by the amount of water each village saved through harvesting methods.  Velu village in Koregaon tehsil won the first prize competition worth rs. 50 Lakh.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was hailed by Aamir Khan for the continuous efforts he has put in. Aamir Khan stated that it was their dream to make Maharashtra a drought-free state in five years.
