Both Thala Ajith & Tahalapthy Vijay movies earn big at the box office. There is a rivalry between Ajith and Vijay when it comes to movies and release dates. Now, they are clashing at the same time with Thunivu & Varisu at the box office for Pongal 2023.

Both Thunivu & Varisu releasing on January 11th as a Pongal special, they are all set to lock horns once again. This is not the first time that Ajith and Vijay clashed at the box office; both of their movies clashed 12 times before this.

2. Kalloori Vaasal vs Poove Unakkaga – 1996

The same year Ajith and Vijay released their films once again in which Vijay’s Poove Unakkaga became a biggest blockbuster hit and ran for more than 250 days in Tamil Nadu. On other hand Ajith’s Kalloori Vaasal movie resulted in disaster.


3. Kaalamellam Kaathiruppen vs Nesam – 1996

The 2nd Pongal clash between Ajith and Vijay in which Nesam starrer became a huge blockbuster hit at the box office. While Ajith’s Kaalamellam Kaathiruppen movie didn’t do well at the box office.


4. Rettai Jadai Vayasu vs Kadhalukku Mariyadhai – 1997

Ajith’s Rettai Jadai Vayasu the love story, didn’t receive well at the box office. On the other side Vijay’s Kadhalukku Mariyadhai movie went on to become a hit with a 200 days long run in theaters.




5. Unnai Thedi vs Thulladha Manamum Thullum – 1999

Unnai Thedi vs Thulladha Manamum Thullum, this time both movies of Ajith and Vijay became super hits at the box office. Released within a one week gap, both films did well and ran for more than 100+ days.




6. Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven vs Kushi – 2000

Vijay’s Kushi movie took the box office by storm against Ajith’s movie Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven. Kushi starrer Vijay & Jyothika was a youthful hit and Unnai Kodu Ennai Tharuven movie starrer Ajith & simran was a flop at box office.

7. Dheena vs Friends – 2001

Another pongal clash for both Ajith and Vijay. In 2001, Ajith starrer Dheena movie, a mass entertainer, became a huge hit along with Vijay’s Friends movie, a youthful drama that won hearts and made good money.

8. Villain vs Bagavathi – 2002

In 2002, Vijay and Ajith clashed at the box office with out and out commercial flicks Villain and Bagavathi released on the same day (November 4th). Both received a good talk and made good money at the box office.
