Photography has always been an integral part of our lives, the nature of a photo enthrals us, surprises us, breaks us, makes us, brings back memories, a single photograph can do many things. Today, we present some of the iconic ‘first’ photographs from over the past two centuries since photography began.
1. World’s First Photograph
The world’s first photograph made in a camera was taken in 1826 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. The photograph was taken from the upstairs windows of Niépce’s estate in the Burgundy region of France.
2. First Color Photograph
The first color photograph was taken by the mathematical physicist, James Clerk Maxwell. The photo is a colored ribbon.
3. First Person Ever Photographed
Hannah Stilley born in 1746, considered to be the first ever human being to be captured in a photo.

Johann Julius Berkowski captured the first ever photograph of a solar eclipse on July 28, 1851
5. First Camera Phone Photo
An entrepreneur named Philippe Kahn used the camera phone to capture his daughter.
6. First Photograph of a Black Hole
The first-ever photograph of a black hole was captured using an array of ultra-powerful telescopes located around the world, and the petabytes of combined data were crunched using supercomputers to create the resulting image.

The first photograph of the moon was taken by John W. Draper on March 26, 1840.
