Watch: How To Make Tasty And Authentic Gongura Kodi Guddu Koora!


If there is one food item that has major influence on us Telugu people is Gongura/Sorrel leaves. They play a major part in our food cycle. Honestly, we Telugu people cannot imagine our food without gongura. Serve it to us in any form, be it pickle, dal, curry or fry and we will happily gobble it all. Gongura is quite a versatile leafy vegetable as it can be paired with several kinds of vegetables or for that matter even with chicken, mutton and seafood.

But, have you ever tried it with eggs? If you haven’t then you ought to. Eggs are also very versatile and go well with almost everything. This Gongura Kodi Guddu Koora is loaded with flavours and nutrition. If you are a fan of the spice and heat, you must make this dish right away!


  • 2 Bunches Sorrel Leaves
  • 4 Boiled Eggs
  • ½ cup Onions
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • Curry Leaves
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 Cinnamon
  • 3 Cardamoms
  • 2 Dry Red Chillies
  • Salt (As per taste)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic Paste
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Red Chilly Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • Water


1.Firstly, you need to prepare Gongura/Sorrel leaves paste. To make the paste, take a pan and add some oil. Once, the oil is heated add gongura leaves and green chillies. Cook it covered till the leaves become soft and slightly mushy. Then grind it into a fine paste.

2.Now, temper the dry spices like cloves, cardamoms, cinnamon and dry red chillies. Once, they are tempered add onions, salt and fry them together.

3.To this, add ginger garlic paste and powered masalas and spices like turmeric powder, red chilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Mix all the spices nicely.

4.Once, the masalas are nicely seeped into the onions, add boiled eggs, curry leaves and gongura paste to it. Also, add salt and give this a nice mix. Add some water and cook it covered on low flame for about 5 minutes.

5.Your Gongura Kodi Guddu Koora is now ready to be served..
