well-known people for many of us, such Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel. There are a significant number of other Indians
who have made enormous contributions to the realms of politics,
culture, entertainment, literature, and much more, while these two
icons stand as monuments to the nation's independence movement.

1. Mahatma Gandhi:
Mahatma Gandhi led the campaign for Indian freedom. Many people
consider him to be one of history's greatest leaders and credit him
with leading India away from British rule. On October 2, 1869,
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India. His
father was the minister of one of the princely states nearby. While
he was a young man, he finished his legal education at University
College London. He then worked as an advocate in Bombay, where
he had considerable success, before returning home to continue his
legal career. He embarked on a lecture tour across India after
becoming recognised as an expert in Hindu law and addressing
politics and religion. Also, he wrote a number of works that were

2. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar:
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, an Indian lawyer, economist, politician, and
social reformer who fought against discrimination against
Untouchables (Dalits) in India, served as the inspiration for the Dalit

Buddhist Movement. In addition, he goes by the name Babasaheb.
Ambedkar served as both the nation's first minister of law following
independence and the principal author of the Indian Constitution.
Ambedkar was brought up by untouchables (then known as Dalits).
He was raised with discrimination since he belonged to a community
that, due to their exclusion from Hinduism's caste system, endured

3. Jawaharlal Nehru:
Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, was a remarkable

independence. In addition, he was a fantastic writer and public
speaker. Along with being a leader, Nehru made contributions to
politics and education. Jawaharlal Nehru was born in Allahabad on
November 14, 1889. (India). He attended Cambridge University and
Harrow School in London before deciding to pursue law, despite his
parents' expectations that he become an engineer (England). He
returned to India from London and enrolled at the Allahabad High
Court, where he practised law for 15 years before joining the

4. J. R. D. Tata:
The Tata Group of Companies was founded in 1868 by Indian
industrialist J. R. D. Tata, who oversaw it from 1932 to 1938, 1940 to
1953, and 1957 to 1988. On December 28, 1904, his father arrived in
Paris, where he was born. On November 29, 1993, he passed away in
Mumbai, India, at the age of 88. The first commercial airline in India,
Tata Airlines (now Air India), and the first steel mill in Asia, Air India

International, were both founded by Tata. He became the first Indian
to be accepted into the International Air & Space Hall of Fame in
1971 as a mark of respect from the Royal Aeronautical Society in the
UK for his breakthrough contributions to the development of civil

5. Indira Gandhi:
The first female prime minister of India, Indira Gandhi, was a superb
administrator. From 1966 until her assassination in 1977 by her
bodyguards, she held the position of prime minister. She was
Jawaharlal Nehru's daughter. She was an effective leader in many
respects. Because of her excellent sense of direction, for example, no
one could ever get lost when pursuing her (and this is why India is
still on top of its game today). It was impossible to control the large
crowds that gathered around Indira whenever she made an

6. Satyajit Ray:
He is an Indian director, producer, screenwriter, lyricist, and
composer by the name of Satyajit Ray. He was Ashoke Kumar Ray's
and Indiradevi Ray's son. He is considered as one of the all-time great
directors. The film legacy Satyajit Ray, a master storyteller, has left
behind is equally the obligation of India and the rest of the globe. His
films exhibit a high degree of empathy, in-depth observation, and
skilful management of people and situations. In 1992, Satyajit Ray
received the Lifetime Achievement Oscar. The French "Lègion

7. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam:
Scientist and statesman A. P. J. Abdul Kalam presided over India as its
eleventh president from 2002 to 2007. He created ballistic missiles
and launchers, earning him the nickname "Missile Man" in India. He
was employed by the Defense Research and Development
Organization (DRDO), Defense Industries Department (DID), Liquid
Propulsion System Center (LPSC), and Indian Space Research
Organization (ISRO) as an aeronautical engineer (DRDO). He played a

8. Lata Mangeshkar:
Lata Mangeshkar is the most well-known playback vocalist in India.

seven decades. Mangeshkar has performed songs for more than a
thousand Hindi cinema soundtracks in over 36 regional Indian
languages and other languages, primarily Marathi and Hindi. The
Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the nation's highest accolade in the
motion picture industry, was given to her by the Indian government
in 1989. She also received the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian
honour. Lata Mangeshkar held the title of most-recorded musician in

9. Sachin Tendulkar:
Sachin Tendulkar, known as "the God of Cricket," was a former
captain and cricketer for India. He is regarded as one of the greatest

batsmen in history. Tendulkar played for the Mumbai team from
1988 to 2013, when he retired from professional cricket. For his
achievements to Indian cricket and athletics, he was awarded the
Bharat Ratna. He also holds the record for the most runs ever scored
by an individual in test cricket (14927 runs) and is the first male

10. AR Rahman:
He is an Indian musician, composer, performer, songwriter, music
producer, multi-instrumentalist, and philanthropist by the name of
AR Rahman. He was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu, on January 6, 1967.
Rahman began piano lessons when he was four years old and worked
with his father in the studio. When director Mani Ratnam invited AR
Rahman to write the score and soundtrack for the Tamil film Roja,
which won him his first National Award for best music director, the
long-awaited break finally materialised. Initially, AR Rahman created
jingles for TV ads and soundtracks for documentaries. He was
nominated for Grammy, Bafta, Golden Globe, and Academy Award
