Hotstar lists out the Top 5 Cricket moments of 2015

Hotstar, the entertainment app that is attempting to revolutionise the way we consume TV shows and films, has listed out the Top 5 cricket moments of 2015.

There are quite a few surprises in the list, especially among the Top 3 cricketing moments.

Here’s the list:

No. 5: The Rise of Bangladesh

Bangladesh witnessed its best ever year in cricket in 2015, winning a quarterfinal berth in the World Cup, and then winning three consecutive ODI series against Pakistan, India and South Africa. Mustafizur Rahman, the lanky pacer from Bangladesh, ran through the Indian side, and inspired an entire nation to believe in itself. 2015 will go down in history as the year when Bangladesh rose up from minnow status, and were taken seriously by the cricketing world.

No. 4: India fight back in Sri Lanka

India’s tour of Sri Lanka began disastrously, but they bounced back under new captain Virat Kohli, whose aggressive tactics seemed to have paid off. Even though Sri Lanka wanted a grand farewell for Kumara Sangakkara, it wasn’t to be.

No. 3: The Race of the ‘Fastest Century’

2015 began with a bang. First, Corey Anderson smashed the record for the fastest century in ODI, finishing it in 36 balls. But in a few days, AB de Villiers, that supreme freak of nature who can do ANYTHING on a cricket ground, broke the record yet again, shocking the West Indian bowlers by cracking a century in 31 balls.

No. 2: England deliver sweet revenge to win the Ashes

Two years ago, a strange creature called Mitchell Johnson prowled on the fast bouncy grounds in Australia, tormenting every single English batsmen who came to the crease. It was a humiliating tour, with Australia winning the tournament 5-0. This time, however, England were a charged side under Alistair Cook, going on to win the series 3-2.

No. 1: A Starc Reminder of Aussie fast bowling

With the World Cup finals being played between the co-hosts Australia and New Zealand, majority of the world supported New Zealand to win, simply because they were seen as the underdogs. However, none of that was to hold true, as Mitchell Starc delivered the performance of the year by castling captain and biggest threat – Brendon McCullum in the very first over of the match. The rest, as they say, is statistics!
