Indian Cricketers Banned From Casinos In Australia

The Indian cricket team is in Australia to take part in a bilateral cricket series. However, the BCCI has issued strict warnings to the Indian team members to stay away from casinos while they are playing in the tournament.

Australia is famous for its luxurious casinos, and the Australians are famous for their nightlife and culture, and liberal amounts of beer go hand in hand with an Aussie good time. To avoid any unwanted situation, the Indian cricket team has been asked to stay within the hotel premises without stepping into the casinos.

The stance of the BCCI has been mixed when it comes to off-field behavior of its team. On earlier occasions, wives and girlfriends were banned from visiting the players during a cricket tournament. However, the rule has since been relaxed so that cricketers can have their partners staying with them during a cricket tournament.

Newspapers have reported that the decision was taken by none other than BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Board Secretary Anurag Thakur, currently the two most powerful individuals at the BCCI. The Indian team is to stay in Australia till January 31st, following which they will return to India for the preparations for the T20 World Cup.
