These Players Have Been Ruled Out Of IPL Season And Our Excitement Has Lessened..!!

There has always been some disappointment when Players who have been bough for whopping amounts never turn up for the matches, more so owing to their injuries or international tie clashes. From the inception of the tournament, big names such as Kevin Pieterson, Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, James Faulkner etc have at occasions  missed a big chunk of matches as well, leaving the teams and the fans fuming alike. Below is a list of Such big names who couldn’t make it happen in this years edition..

1. Lendl Simmons

Mumbai Indians faced a massive blow just after their opening match in IPL 2016 when Simmons was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury to his lower back. Simmons, who was West Indies’ hero in the semi-final in ICC World T20 2016 against India, has been in excellent run in the T20 format, and could have played a huge role in Mumbai’s road to defend their IPL title.

Replacement: Martin Guptill

2. Samuel Badree

The leg-spinner, who was West Indies’ best bowler in the World T20 with 9 wickets in 6 matches, could have balanced a shaky Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowling attack. The Virat Kohli-led side has probably the strongest batting line-up but have failed to make an impact in IPL 2016. Despite of posting huge totals of 190+, RCB have not managed to defend those in all occasions.

Replacement: Tabraiz Shamsi

3. Joel Paris

The Australian was a surprise pick by Delhi Daredevils for INR 30 lakh. Unfortunately, he was ruled out of IPL 2016 even before their first game due to shin injury. He was even withdrawn by Western Australia during their Sheffield Shield season in March. 23-year-old left-arm swing bowler had made his ODI debut during the home series against India in January.

4. Lasith Malinga

Even before the first match of IPL 9, Mumbai Indians’ (MI’s) medical team declared Malinga unfit for the next four months due to knee injury. Sri Lanka also missed his services during the ICC World T20 2016 in India. Malinga, who last played in Asia Cup T20 2016, has hinted international retirement following his recent string of injuries. MI named Jerome Taylor as Malinga’s replacement. The fast bowler has returned to Sri Lanka after undergoing medical tests in Mumbai.

5. John Hastings

The Australian has flown back home due to an ankle injury. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), till now the most dominating team of IPL 2016, faced a blow when Hastings injured himself in the nets prior to KKR’s match against MI. KKR are yet to name Hastings’ replacement for the remainder of IPL 9 as the paper work with the IPL working committee is underway.

6. Mitchell Starc

RCB’s bowling attack faced a blow even before the ninth edition of IPL went underway when Starc was declared unfit for the tournament. Cricket Australia announced earlier that Starc is aiming for Australia’s tri-series (also involving West Indies and South Africa, set to begin in June 3). Starc injured his ankle during Australia’s maiden day-night Test against New Zealand in November 2015. It led to a surgery and a lengthy recovery followed it. England’s Chris Jordan was named Starc’s replacement of the remaining of IPL 2016.

7. Kevin Pietersen

Before Faf, RPS had received another major blow when Pietersen injured his right calf after facing just one ball against RCB. Pietersen has been out of the England team for some time, and the injury is certainly not good news for him. It was also a major blow for RPS, who will now have to secure a major batsman to boister their middle-order.
