Finally, the drought-affected teams of the Indian Premier League, primarily, the Rising Pune SuperGiants and the Mumbai Indians have a makeshift home venue for their games after May 1. The two teams will be jointly based out of Vizag, ending a long impasse surrounding the allotment of alternate home venues for the two sides which were holding home games in Mumbai and Pune.

Rajiv Shukla, the Indian Premier League chairman, announced today (April 29) that Visakhapatnam was chosen as a common venue for the two teams. Shukla also revealed that the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi would host one Qualifier and the Eliminator.

The venue change was forced owing to a severe drought in Maharashtra and a Bombay High Court ruling that the games be moved out of the state. “Both the IPL franchises have expressed satisfaction and are keen to embrace Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium as their home ground for the upcoming matches,” the BCCI media release stated.
