When you hear this name – a kickass base voice, a well toned body and an amazing personality strikes to your mind. That is what Jagapathy Babu is indeed! Like any other actors, he has also contributed to this great art of cinema with his kind of roles. And one must admit that he excels when he does it right.
From a young angry man to a loving and caring husband, father, brother and most recently notorious villain. He has time and again proved his substance with his roles and performance.
Here we’d like to slide through some of his outstanding roles all through career. He did excel, maybe even far better than many.
AS AN AVENGING BROTHER – GAAYAM
It was the first time RGV broke the odds and got JB dub for himself. And the result was amazing.
AS AN UNDERSTANDING HUSBAND – SHUBALAGNAM
He outplayed the role of Madhu with elan. The composed husband irrespective of his wife’s demands simply made all the women in the state for for this handsoms hunk.
A SAVIOUR – ANTHAHPURAM
Being the rugged mean guy who lets go of himself for an innocent’s peace of mind won him applauds unanimously. It also won him a Nandi for the best supporting actor.
AN INNOCENT AND IDEAL HUSBAND – MANOHARAM
Winning him a Nandi for the Best Actor, JB once again proved his versatility of being a victim to the faulty system we have in place.
HUMOUROUS NEIGHBOUR & HUSBAND AGAIN – FAMILY CIRCUS
Breaking from the image he built for himself till then, JB tickled some bones with his performance in this family comedy drama.
SHORT TEMPERED FRIEND – HANUMAN JUNCTION
Being a complete rural zamindar, JB knew where to pull the rope between being serious, funny and romantic. This showed him a new light, with the rugged look ofcourse.
A DEVOTED SON AND RESPONSIBLE LEADER – PEDDABABU
Playing a head of the village was not a new thing to him, but showing the command he had over the character was something to admire all through.
AS POLICE COP – ANUKOKUNDA OKA ROJU
ANUKOKUNDA OKA ROJU is one movie that describes the potential of Jagapathi Babu as a police cop, who is always on the good side. His eagerness to get married but endS up clearing the ruckus for Sahasra (Charmi)
AS A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE PERSON – SAAMANYUDU
Knowing how avenge his father’s death, who was a law abiding journalist, JB was witty and smart in executing this character without much violence.
A GENEROUS VILLAGE BARBER – KATHANAYAKUDU
JB knew when to break away from his hero centric roles and do supporting roles which he would justify better. The role of Balu was truly a touching one.
A TRULY BADASS VILLAIN – LEGEND
Giving everyone a surprise, JB started his second innings with a bang. He went on to win the Best Villain for his role in Legend.
AS A CARING FATHER AND A WITTY VILLAIN – NANNAKU PREMATHO
With Srimanthudu, JB already set a bar for the roles of fathers. In Nannaku Prematho, he just added a flavour to it with his villainous nature.
There are many other movies where his versatility can be notices. Movies like Jai Bolo Telangana, Samudram, Maavichiguru, Dongata are some which can be justified only by JB.
