Jeep Safari – Mandalpati
Private vehicles are not allowed here, as the roads are in bad condition and terrain is extremely dangerous, you can opt for the jeep safari which is located at the entrance of the Mandalpati road. The drive to the viewpoint is an adventure in itself, the 20 km drive is full of astonishing views and tricky terrain.
We recommend that you go here for sunrise or the sunset, the view is breathtaking and is surrounded by beautiful greenery, so if you’re looking for an amazing adventure with a beautiful view, you should head to Mandalpati.
Raja’s Seat
The garden is decorated with flowers and artistic structures and offers you a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valleys which are covered with mist and fog, the place gets its name as one of the kings of Kodagu used to watch the setting sun, and spend time with his queens here.
The best time to visit Raja’s seat is during early mornings or evenings to fully take advantage of the mesmeric view, on a bonus note, just outside the garden you get some of the best Gobi Manchuria that you’ll eat, do check it out.
River Rafting
You can participate in this activity of 90 minutes anytime between 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, the whitewater rafting price per head costs Rs.800, the rafting will take you in the river for 4 km. Dubare Elephant Camp
To see the elephants, you have to first go from one side of the river to other, you can do this using the motorboat which charges Rs. 50 per head or you can what we did and cross the river on your own, which is a fun experience, the stones are slippery, so just be careful. You can feed and take photos with elephants, the mahouts are quite friendly and cooperative, making Dubare Elephant camp a must-visit place.
Abbey Falls
You will have to walk down the hill to reach the falls, the Fall is quite scenic and you’re not allowed to go inside or near the Fall, but there is a dedicated watching area from where you can watch the falls. Best time to visit Abbey falls is during monsoons, Several shops are present just before the walkway to Abbey Falls where you can shop or eat. On top of all this, the parking space is ample and there’s no tourist charge to visit the place.
Madikeri Fort
The fort is mostly known for its Anglican Church which has now been converted into a museum, and represents beautiful architecture with Gothic style, and also contains varied kinds of antiques, the museum also contains many amazing sculptures from 1-17 CE, the surroundings of the fort are also quite beautiful, the fort is easily accessible, has ample parking area, has no tickets, is good for photography, and has a historic Elephant statue.
