The storyline revolves around a wealthy father who wants to marry of his daughters to rich grooms. However, the lead heroes fall in love in the girls and the antics they plan to win over their hearts and convince their father is what makes the whole film. The scene where Nagesh narrates the story of his next horror movie to his father is a popular one. The film was an instant hit and was later remade into Hindi too.

Indru Poi Naalai Vaa

Bhagyaraj is known for his endearing movie ideas and realistic characterization. This too is an out and out Bhagyaraj movie but with a comical twist. With Bhagyaraj, Raadhika, Pazhanisamy and G. Ramli in the lead roles, the film is about three unemployed men who fall for the same girl and the different ways in which they try to woo her. Their antics are extremely comical which makes for a funny plot.

Bhama Vijayam

Starring Nagesh, Balaiya, Sowcar Janaki, Muthuraman, Rajashri and Kanchana in the lead role, this movie was directed by ace director K. Balachander. The film is a social satire which portrays the unnecessary spending of a middle class family to be at par with an actress who moves next door to them and the struggles that ensue. The performances of all the actors were impressive and the film was highly acclaimed by the audience. The movie was remade into all major Indian languages, thanks to its comic storyline which gives a very important message.

Michael Madhana Kama Rajan

This was a crazy comedy movie with a very confusing plot which is what popularized it among the audience. With Kamal Haasan in the lead who played four various characters, the film also had Urvasi, Khushboo and Nagesh. The versatility of Ulaganayagan and the finesse of director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao left the audience in splits and craving for more. Kamal Haasan introduced minute nuances to diversify his characters thus creating a mind boggling effect.

Avvai Shanmugi

Directed by K.S. Ravikumar, this was an Indianised version of Hollywood blockbuster Mrs. Doubtfire and starred Kamal Haasan, who with his impressive makeup and body language portrayed the role of a woman with perfection. Actors like Delhi Ganesh, Gemini Ganesan, Manivannan, Nassar and Nagesh also impressed the audience with their comic timing.
