Are You Drinking Enough Water? How Much Water Is Safe To Drink Daily

Water is essential for survival, we can only live for 7 days without water, that means that it is absolutely crucial that we keep ourselves hydrated, our body is made up of more than 60% of water and as the day passes by, the body keeps losing water through sweat or urine, so we need to drink adequate amount of water to fulfill the needs of our body, but how much water should you drink daily? Is there anything such as drinking too much water?

There are a different number of opinions present for this case, many different health authorities have suggested that a person should drink around 8 glasses of water every day, which is 2 liters of water every day, other people recommend drinking water frequently even when you are not feeling thirsty.

When your body does not get enough water, there can be certain changes or symptoms that you might go through like weakened mood and concentration and frequent headaches. Drinking water is important because t helps your body in a number of ways, like:-

  • Gets rid of toxins through urination, perspiration and bowel movements
  • Keeps your temperature normal
  • Lubricates and cushions joints
  • Protects sensitive tissues

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that adequate daily fluid intake is:

  • About 3.7 liters of water for men
  • About 2.7 liters of water for women

The amount of water you require varies from person to person. For some people, fewer than eight glasses a day might be enough. But other people might need more. All this depends on how much water you lose in a day, many factors come under this, how much you exercise, the environment around you and your overall health.

At the end of the day, no one can tell you exactly how much water you need. This depends on the individual. Try different amounts and see what works out for you, don’t drink too much of water, but don’t ignore your thirst too, drink more water if you’ve exercised a lot or live in hot conditions
