Over the years, Tamil cinema has come across a string of extremely talented actors and actresses. Their caliber to emote and express left the audience spell bound. Directors created special roles just to tap in their talent.
However, there have been others who in spite of having been talented have hardly got a chance to display their full potential. If given a chance, these actors may actually outshine the so called superstars. Here is a list of some of the actors who are highly underrated in the Tamil film industry.
Raghuvaran
1An extremely talented actor who had a way with all kinds of roles, be it the loveable elder brother, a scheming politician or a doubting husband, Raghuvaran played all his roles with aplomb. However, his glory was short lived as he died young and did not get a chance to display his full potential. Movies like Anjali, Thodarum, Aahaa and Mudhalvan are some of the movies where you can glimpse at the powerhouse of talent that was ensconced in him.
Delhi Ganesh
This is one actor who is hardly mentioned in the list of talented actors produced by the Tamil film industry. His versatiliity is unmatched. He can do comic roles and serious ones with equal conviction. He has also tried his hands at negative roles and succeeded in these too. Some of the movies in which he has proved his acting prowess are Michael Madhana Kamarajan, Nayakan, Sindhu Bhairavi and Avvai Shanmugi.
Ponvannan
He is definitely one of the most underrated actors of Tamil cinema. His refined acting style has had few takers in the industry. However, he has proved his acting finesse and his ability to play any role to perfection in films like Kadal and Paruthiveeran.
Arvind Swamy
He wowed the female audience with his chocolate boy looks when he ventured into Tamil movies with films like Roja, Bombay, Thalapathi etc. However, his acting talent was hardly ever talked about until now when he made his comeback with Thani Oruvan and played the role of a vile scientist with perfection.
Ajith
Believe it or not, in spite of the amazing fan following that Thala enjoys, his acting skills are hardly mentioned when the best actors of Kollywood are mentioned. His performances in films like Vaali, Villian, Kireedam, Varalaaru and Billa are proof enough as to what Ajith has in store.
It is high time the Tamil film makers open up their eyes and start taking notice of the hidden talent in the actors who have ended up being typecast in similar roles for long. Who knows, what magic these actors are capable of creating?
