Mohammed Siraj

This pace bowler is a part of our very own Sunrisers Hyderabad. He doesn’t come from a place where he had scope for proper and benefitted sport education. He came from poverty and a family whose head is an auto driver. Siraj’s father, Ghouse Mohammed, is an auto driver by profession and the family has been relying on him for the past 30 years. And now, the father doesn’t have any need to struggle as an auto driver any more, he has a son who will rise high and higher.

He was born in 1994 and never went to a coaching academy. Having a talent and a struggling learning, he made his debut only in November 2015, during the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy. He ended the season with 41 wickets in nine matches. This led to the selectors picking him for the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup.

After his successful performances, he got into the IPL auction with base price 20 lakhs. He was shocked when the bid took him as high as 2.6 crore.

For 20 seconds, I remained speechless. Then, I got up from my chair to hug my mother with the great news that I hit a jackpot in the auction. Everybody was thrilled and amazed”, an excited Siraj told the media person.

He is not just a name, he is an inspiration to one and all. Let us all rise up in honor and hope that he will reach great heights and will become a successful cricketer.
