Arvind Kejriwal Shines Up In Fortune’s List Of World’s 50 Greatest Leaders; PM Modi Couldn’t Make It!

The Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is all smiles after having made to Fortune’s third annual list of ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’. The 42 years old Delhi Chief Minister is the only Indian on the list. He has been ranked 42nd by the magazine which is topped by Amazon CEO, Jef Bezos. The list features eminent personalities from across the globe from diverse fields of business, government, philanthropy and the arts. Another eminent name from South Asia is Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at number 10, who has been appreciated for empowering women and promoting education in her country.

The Delhi Chief Minister has been praised by the magazine for his effort to curb pollution through the scheme of Odd-Even which allowed odd-even vehicles to be run on alternate days thereby reducing smog and traffic clogging significantly. The decision to implement ‘odd-even’ came in the wake of alarming situation of Delhi which was declared world’s most polluted city by World Health Organization.

Other eminent personalities on the list are Germany’s Chancellor Angela Markel (2), Myanmar’s leader Aang Sung Suu Kyi (3), Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (10), Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (48), Bhutanese Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay (50), Pope Francis (4) and Tim Cook (5).

India’s Prime minister Narendra Modi and US President, Barrack Obama have been dropped from the list this year.
