Mysuru Is The Cleanest City In India….Vizag stands Fifth!

Karnataka’s Mysuru has been adjudged as India’s cleanest city for the second year in a row while Chandigarh, Tiruchirapalli , the New Delhi Municipal Council, and Visakhapatnam make it to the top five, as a nationwide survey by the Urban Development (UD) ministry has found. A similar survey in 2014 ranked Mysuru and Tiruchirappali among the five cleanest cities as well.

1. Mysuru, Karnataka
2. Chandigarh, Union Territory
3. Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu
4. NDMC, NCT of Delhi
5. Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
6. Surat, Gujrat
7. Rajkot, Gujrat
8. Gangtok, Sikkim
9. Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra
10. Greater Mumbai, Maharashtra

The “Swachhta Sarvekshan” covering 73 cities with a population of over one million, ironically ranked Varanasi –Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency — among the bottom ten dirtiest cities.

On the other hand, the most unclean cities list included Dhanbad, Asansol, Patna, Meerut, Raipur, Ghaziabad, Jamshedpur, Kalyan Dombivilli and Itanagar.
