After the last run victory yesterday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Team India deserved every accolade that came it’s way. The match in itself was a roller coaster of emotions. And the fans, well their plight was unmatched. Such was the drama that unfolded at the qualifier with Bangladesh. But away from those historic scenes, something managed to tick off skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni so much that he lost his cool and give the guilty a handful.
Getting his breath back after a roller-coaster evening, Dhoni walked into the press conference room with a smile, but it soon evaporated at the very first question, which not only took Dhoni by surprise but also made him very, very angry.
The question at hand :
“Before the match, we were talking about a big win so that we can improve our net run-rate but look at how we just about managed to win. How satisfied you are with such a win?”
Such a poorly framed question would irk any captain of any team all over the world. And that indeed justified Dhoni’s reaction.
Dhoni gave him back – “Listen to me. Hearing you, your tone and your question, it’s clear that you aren’t happy that India has won. And when talking about a cricket match, there’s no script. It’s not about the script. You have to analyse that after losing the toss, what was the reason that we couldn’t make many runs on that wicket. If you aren’t analysing these things sitting outside, then you shouldn’t ask this question.”
