Meet The 20 Indian-Americans Who Will Hold Key Positions In The Biden-Harris Administration / From Neera Tanden to Vivek Murthy: Meet Indian-Americans part of President Biden’s administration

The newly elected American President Joe Biden has nominated 20 Indian-Americans, including 13 women, to key positions in his incoming administration. 17 of them would be part of the Biden administration in the powerful White House, this is also for the first time ever that so many Indian-Americans have been roped into a presidential administration….

Here’s a full list:

1.Neera Tanden – The first Indian-American and the first woman of colour to serve the office.

Neera TandenBorn to Indian immigrant parents, an american political consultant and has worked on various Democratic senatorial and presidential campaigns, including for Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. She is Biden’s pick to be Director, Office of Management and Budget.

2.Vivek Murthy

The Indian-American physician was selected to co-chair Biden’s COVID-19 taskforce. Will reprise his role as surgeon general under the Joe Biden administration after serving under former US President Barack Obama.

3.Vanita Gupta

45-year-old has been nominated as the Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice. She served as the head of the civil rights division under the Obama administration.

4.Uzra Zeya

Individual of Kashmiri-origin, Zeya joined the foreign service in the US in 1990 and served for almost 3 decades before she quit the service in 2018 in protest against former President Donald Trump’s policies. She joins the Biden team as the Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security.

5.Shanthi Kalathil

The 43-year-old has been nominated as the Co-ordinator for Democracy & Human Rights.

6.Vinay Reddy

Telangana’s own Vinay Reddy was the speech writer behind President Biden’s inaugural address. Chosen as the Director of Speechwriting in Biden administration

7.Sonia Aggarwal

She is Biden’s Senior Advisor for Climate Policy and Innovation in the Office of the Domestic Climate Policy.

8.Bharat Ramamurti

Ramamurti has been nominated as the Deputy Director of White House National Economic Council. He is currently the Managing Director of the Corporate Power programme at the Roosevelt Institute.

9.Sameera Fazili

The Kashmiri-origin attorney and financial expert has joined Biden’s National Economic Council as Deputy Director. She played a key role in one of the protests against the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution in 2019.

10.Sabrina Singh

Appointed as the Deputy Press Secretary to the Vice-President Kamala Harris.

11.Vedant Patel

Vedant roots belongs to Gujarat, Indian-American has been appointed as the Assistant Press Secretary.

12.Tarun Chhabra

A member of the Obama-Biden administration, he has previously served as a member of the National Security Council and as a speechwriter for the Secretary of Defense. In the Biden-Harris administration, he will be a Senior Director for Technology and National Security.

13.Sumona Guha

Appointed as the Senior Director for South Asia in the Biden administration, she was also special advisor for national security affairs to Vice President Biden during Obama administration.

14.Vidur Sharma

Has been appointed as Policy Advisor for Testing in the White House Covid-19 Response Team.

15.Neha Gupta

Formerly a Deputy City Attorney in San Francisco, She now joins the administration as Associate Counsel in the White House.

16.Reema Shah

She has been named as the named as Deputy Associate Counsel in the White House.

17.Mala Adiga

Mala Adiga has been chosen as the policy director for the First Lady Jill Biden. The Karnataka-origin official has served as a part of the Obama administration, as well as being a part of the Biden-Harris campaign.

18.Garima Verma

Born in India, Verma has served as an audience development and content strategist on the Biden-Harris campaign and also has experience of marketing with Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney. she now joins the administration as First Lady Jill Biden’s digital director.

19.Aisha Shah

Born in Kashmir and raised in Louisiana, Aisha has been named as Partnership Manager at the White House Office of Digital Strategy.

20.Gautam Raghavan

Appointed as Deputy Director at the office of Presidential Personnel
