India may have lost the One-Day International series to Australia. But Indian man Dipen Mandaliya and his iconic proposal has won hearts all over.
Mandaliya, who hails from Bengaluru moved to Australia four years ago. He stayed in sydney for two years and then moved to Melbourne.
When he moved to Melbourne, Rose happened to be the previous tenant of the house he had rented.
As Rose happened to be the previous tenant of the house, he received letters and mail addressed to her and so he looked for her on Facebook and reached out to her. That’s how they met.
Rose hails from Western Sydney and works as a health and wellbeing promotion worker in Melbourne.
Both are die-hard cricket fans. The first time they met, they talked so much about cricket.
Rose says “We hit it off quite quickly. Cricket bonded us”
As they both are avid cricket fans, he thought it was the right occasion [proposing at India vs Australia game] as they both love cricket
And he had planned this weeks in advance and kept it a surpirse.
He says
““I reached out to the Sydney Cricket Ground and told them about my plan to propose during the game and that it would be great to receive their support, and to my surprise the Sydney Cricket Ground officials responded positively and they said, we should do it after the 20th over. They told me all cameras will be on me.”
“And he was a bit nervous to propose in front of 25,000 people.”
“When the match started, he was continuously thinking about how it will go. And he Never thought it will go viral like this, and he didn’t inform anything about this to both the families and they were surprised and happy when the moment happened”

Rose about this iconic Love proposal
“I was so overwhelmed but in a good way. It was beautiful. I loved the whole thing,”
Rose, last year travelled to India to celebrate Diwali with Dipen’s family.
The couple is now looking forward to their wedding.
