Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides energy and metabolism required to last for the entire day. Most studies suggest that skipping breakfast results in a weak immunity system. Even after several warnings from our elders or advices from experts, we tend to ignore the first meal of the day.
So, here is a hatke and tasty Upma recipe made with bread pieces, and loaded with vegetables. This is filling, easy to cook and will stop you from skipping your breakfast. Try this recipe right away!
- Bread Slices
- ½ cup Potato
- 1 cup Onions
- 1 cup Tomatoes
- 1 tsp Green Chillies
- Curry Leaves
- Coriander Leaves
- ½ tsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Ginger
- ½ tsp Asafoetida
- Salt (As per required)
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp Red Chillie Powder
1.Firstly, roast your bread slices with ghee. Fry them on both the sides till they turn golden-brown.
2.Cut them into small cubes and keep them aside.
3.Now, take a pan and heat 1 tsp ghee and 2 tsp oil. To this, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, a handful of curry leaves, thinly chopped ginger, asafoetida, onions and mix it well. Add 1 tsp salt and turmeric powder and cook till the onions are fried.
4.Add potatoes, carrots, beans, green chillies, tomatoes and mix them together. Once the vegetables are cooked add red chilli powder and 1 tsp salt. Add some water.
5.Finally add the fried bread pieces and give it a nice mix. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
