దేవాలయ నలుదిక్కులా నాలుగు వేదాలకు ప్రతీకగా ఎత్తయిన రాజగోపుర ద్వారాలు స్వాగతం పలుకుతాయి. ఆలయానికి వాయవ్యంగా గోశాల, ప్రాకార మండపంలో శాలాహారంలో అ నుండి క్ష వరకు గల అక్షర దేవతలు, లోపలి భాగంలో అష్టాదశ శక్తిపీఠాలలో గల దేవతా విగ్రహాలు, నవదుర్గలు, దశమహావిద్యలలో అమ్మవార్లు, దశావతారాలు దర్శనమిస్తాయి. ఈ విగ్రహాలు తంజావూరు శిల్పకళను ప్రతిబింబిస్తాయి. ఇక్కడి దేవి పేరు శ్రీవిజయరాజరాజేశ్వరి. అమ్మవారి శిరస్సు మీద లింగాకారం ఉంటుంది. పరమశివుడు గంగను తన శిరస్సు మీద ధరిస్తే, అమ్మవారు సాక్షాత్తు అయ్యవారిని తన శిరస్సున ధరించి కనువిందు చేస్తుంది. తల మీద ఉన్న అయ్యవారి కోసం సోమవారం, అమ్మవారి కోసం శుక్రవారం అభిషేకాలు జరిపిస్తారు.
ప్రాకార మండపంలో శాలాహారంలో అ నుండి క్ష వరకు గల అక్షర దేవతలు అక్షరభిక్ష పెడతాయి. ఎక్కడా లేని విధంగా అక్షర దేవతల్ని ఇక్కడ విగ్రహరూపంలో వాయుప్రతిష్ఠ చేశారు. ఆలయ లోపలి భాగంలో అష్టాదశ శక్తిపీఠాలలో గల దేవతా విగ్రహాలు, నవదుర్గలు, దశమహావిద్యలలో అమ్మవార్లు, దశావతారాలు పురాణజ్ఞానాన్ని ప్రసాదిస్తాయి. ఈ విగ్రహాలు తంజావూరు శిల్పకళను ప్రతిబింబిస్తాయి. ముఖ్యంగా నీలి సరస్వతి, చిన్నమస్తాదేవి వంటి విలక్షణ దేవతల రూపాలను ప్రత్యక్షంగా వీక్షించవచ్చు. ఆలయానికి వాయవ్యంగా గోశాలలో గోమాతలు పవిత్రతతో మూర్తీభవిస్తాయి. ఇలా ఎన్నో ప్రత్యేకతలు ఉన్న ఈ ఆలయాన్ని సందర్శిస్తే ఎప్పుడు విజయం మన వైపే ఉంటుందని భక్తుల విశ్వాసం.
తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలోని మహబూబ్‌నగర్‌ జిల్లా కృష్ణా మండల పరిధిలోని తంగిడి గ్రామంలో సంగమేశ్వరుడి ఆలయం ఉంది. కర్ణాటక సరిహద్దు లో ఉండే ఈ ఆలయం ఒకవైపు కృష్ణానది, మరోవైపు భీమానది పరవళ్లు తొక్కుతుంటాయి. ఇక్కడ సాక్షాత్‌ జగద్గురు శ్రీదత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి మొదటి అవతారమైన శ్రీపాద శ్రీవల్లభుడు స్నానమాచరించిన కృష్ణ, భీమ నదుల సంగమ క్షేత్రం ఇది అని చెబుతారు. తంగిడి గ్రామం వద్ద కృష్ణ, భీమనదులు కలిసే చోటును సంగమ క్షేత్రంగా అభివర్ణిస్తారు. ఈ క్షేత్రానికి ఓ ప్రత్యేకమైన స్థానం ఉంది. అక్కడ దేవతలు, రుషులు, మునులు తపస్సు ఆచరించినట్లు పురాణాల్లో పేర్కొన్నారు. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో కృష్ణమ్మ అడుగిడుతున్న ప్రాంతమిది. ఒకప్పుడు ఇది దివ్యక్షేత్రంగా వెలుగొందిందని ప్రసిద్ధి. దత్తాత్రేయ స్వామి మొదటి అంశావతారమైన శ్రీపాద శ్రీవల్లభుడు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లోని తూర్పుగోదావరి జిల్లా పిఠాపురంలో జన్మించాడు. ఇప్పటికీ ఆయన జన్మించిన ఇల్లు అక్కడ ఉండడం విశేషం. అక్కడ 16 సంవత్సరాల వరకు ఉండి దేశసంచారం నిమిత్తం వెళ్లిపోయాడు. ఆలా వెళ్లిన వ్యక్తి కొన్ని సంవత్సరాల పాటు ఎవరికీ కన్పించకుండా మాయమయ్యాడు. ఆ తరువాత కార్తీక పౌర్ణమి నాడు తంగిడిలోని నివృత్తి సంగమంలో ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యాడు.
ఇక్కడ కొన్ని సంవత్సరాల పాటు తపస్సు ఆచరించి ఇక్కడినుంచి కర్ణాటకలోని కుర్మగడ్డకు వెళ్లాడని చారిత్రక ఆధారాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. ఇప్పటికీ ఈ సంగమంలో శ్రీపాద శ్రీవల్లభుడు పూజించిన వినాయక విగ్రహం, ఆయన పాదుకలు, శివలింగం ఉన్నాయి. ఆయన ఇక్కడినుంచి కుర్మగడ్డకు కాలినడకన వెళ్లిన మార్గంలో నదిలోని రాళ్లు నల్లరాయితో రోడ్డు వేసినట్లు ఇప్పటికీ ఇక్కడా ప్రత్యక్షంగా కన్పిస్తాయి. ఇంతటి విశేషమైన ఈ స్థానాన్ని తెలుసుకున్న విఠల్‌బాబా ఇక్కడా ఓ ఆలయాన్ని నిర్మించాలని సంకల్పించారు. అందులో భాగంగానే ఐదు సంవత్సరాల క్రితం ఇక్కడ దత్తభీమేశ్వర ఆలయాన్ని నిర్మించారు. ఈ నివృత్తి సంగమంలో స్నానం ఆచరించిన వ్యక్తులకు పాపాలు నివృత్తి అవుతాయని ప్రసిద్ధి. అందుకే ఈ క్షేత్రానికి తంగిడి సంగమమని, నివృత్తి సంగమమనీ పేరొచ్చింది.
ఇక్కడ ఒక శిలాశాసనంలో నది నీటి ద్వారానే ఓ శక్తి పుడుతుంది. ఆ తరువాత సంగమంలోని రాతి కోడి కూస్తుంది. ఆ కోడి కూసిన రోజు ఈ ప్రపంచమంతా జలసమాధి అయిపోతుంది అంటూ రాసుంది. ఆ శాసనంలో చెప్పినట్లే ఇక్కడున్న బురుజుపై రాతికోడి ఉండేది. అది ప్రస్తుతం శిథిలమైంది. అదే విధంగా ఆ శాసనమూ ప్రస్తుతం శిథిలమైపోయింది. కానీ ఈ ప్రాంత ప్రజలు మాత్రం ఈ మాటలను ఎప్పుడూ తలచుకుంటూనే ఉంటారు. ఈవిధంగా కృష్ణ, భీమనదులు ఒకచోట కలిసే ఈ తగిడి సంగమం చోటుకి వెళితే సర్వ పాపాలు తొలగిపోతాయని పురాణాలూ చెబుతున్నాయి.

తమిళనాడు రాష్ట్రంలోని మధురై లో శ్రీ మధుర మీనాక్షి దేవాలయం ఉంది. ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా ఉన్న ఈ ఆలయాన్ని వేగై నది ఒడ్డున 6 వ శతాబ్దంలో పాండ్య రాజైన కులశేఖరుడు నిర్మించాడు. ఈ మీనాక్షి ఆలయం భారతదేశంలోని అతి ప్రాచీన దేవాలయలో ఒకటి. ఈ ఆలయం 283 గజాల పొడవు, 243 గజాల వెడల్పుతో ఒక పెద్ద కోట లాంటి ఆవరణలో ఉంది. ఈ ఆలయ గోపురం 160 అడుగుల ఎత్తులో ఉంటుంది. తమిళ పురాణాల ప్రకారం శివుడికి, మీనాక్షి దేవికి వివాహం ఇక్కడే జరిగిందని చెబుతారు. ఆ ఆలయంలో ఉన్నంత శిల్ప కళ నైపుణ్యం మరెక్కడా కూడా లేదనే చెప్పవచ్చు. దక్షిణ భారతదేశంలో ఎక్కువమంది దర్శించే ఆలయాల్లో మీనాక్షి దేవి ఆలయం ఒకటి.
ఈ ఆలయ స్థల పురాణానికి వస్తే, పూర్వం శివుడు తపస్సుచేసుకోవడానికి ఇంద్ర ప్రేరేపితమై అనుకూల మార్పు చెందింది. కళ్యాణపురి రాజుకు ఒకరోజు రాత్రి కలలో ఈ ప్రదేశంలో శివుడు అమృతం వొలికిస్తున్నట్లుగా కనబడింది. అది మహాప్రసాదంగా భావించి ఆ రాజు ఈ ప్రదేశాన్ని తన రాజధానిగా చేసుకొని మధురాపురం అని పేరుపెట్టుకొని రాజ్యమేలాసాగాడు. రాజుగారి ఏకైక కుమార్తె అందాలరాశి పార్వతీదేవి అవతారం సుందర నయనాక్షి మీనాక్షి. ఈమె రాజు సింహాసనం ఎక్కి రాజ్య పాలనా చేయుచుండగా చుట్టూ పక్కల కోరమీసాలుగల మగటిమ రాజులూ కన్నెర్ర చేసి ఆమె రాజ్యం మీద దండెత్తారు. అయినప్పటికీ ఆమెని ఎవరు ఎదురించలేకపోయారు. ఇలా ఆమె శత్రువులని మట్టుబెడుతూ ఆవేశంగా ఇంకా ఎవరు మిగిలారని అంటుండగా చెరగని చిరునవ్వుతో ఎదురుగా ఒక యువకుడు నిలుచున్నాడు. అతడే ముగ్ద మనోహరుడు సుందరేశ్వరుడు శివుడు. అప్పుడు మీనాక్షి అమ్మవారికి తన జన్మరహస్యం స్మురించగా తానూ పార్వతీదేవి అంశగా గుర్తించి ఆమె స్వామివారిని పరిణయ మాడినది.
ఇక ఈ ఆలయంలో శివాలయం ఉంది. దీనినే సుందరేశ్వరాలయంగా పిలుస్తారు. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న పద్మ సరోవరంలో ఈ నీరు తాగితే సరస్వతీదేవి కటాక్షం లభిస్తుందని భక్తుల నమ్మకం. ఇక ఈ ఆలయ ప్రత్యేకత ఏంటంటే, నాలుగు దిక్కుల నాలుగు ఎత్తైన రాజగోపురాలతో గంబీరంగా కనబడుతుంది. ఇక ప్రతి సంవత్సరం చైత్ర పూర్ణిమ నుండి స్వామికి జరిగే వివాహ వేడుకల్లో నిజంగానే ఓ బాలునికి – ఓ బాలికకు పెళ్లి అలంకరణ చేసి కళ్యాణం జరిపిస్తారు. దీనినే చిత్రాయి ఉత్సవంగా 10 రోజుల పాటు నిర్వహిస్తారు.
ఇది ఇలా ఉంటె మీనాక్షి అమ్మవారికి ప్రతి సోమవారం సాయంత్రం ప్రత్యేక అలంకారంతో పాటు ప్రత్యేక పూజ ఉంటుంది. అప్పుడు అమ్మవారికి ఒక వజ్రం పొదిగిన ముక్కు పుడక అలంకరిస్తారు. ఈ వజ్రం ఖరీదు ఎంతనేది ఇంతవరకు ఎవరు కూడా తేల్చలేకపోయారు. జనవరి – ఫిబ్రవరి నెలల్లో జరిగే ఉత్సవం ఇక్కడ బ్రహ్మాండంగా కన్నుల పండుగగా నిర్వహిస్తారు.
కర్ణుడు కౌరవుల పక్షాన ఉండటం వలన అర్జునుడికి, కర్ణుడికి మధ్య వ్యక్తిగతమైన వైరం ఉండేది.కర్ణుడి దానగుణాన్ని అందరూ పొగుడుతూ ఉంటే అర్జునుడు భరించలేకపోయేవాడు. ఒక రోజు కృష్ణుడి దగ్గరకు వెళ్లి బావా నేను కూడా దానాలు చేశాను. అవసరమైతే కర్ణుడి కన్నా ఎక్కువ చేస్తాను. అయినా నన్ను ఎవరూ గుర్తించటం లేదు. అందరూ కర్ణుడి దాన గుణాన్నే పొగుడుతున్నారు. దీని వెనకున్న కారణమేమిటి? అని అడిగాడు.
అప్పుడు కృష్ణుడు చిరునవ్వు నవ్వి ఆ తరువాత ఇద్దరు కలసి వాహ్యాళికి వెళ్లారు. అక్కడ వాళ్లిద్దరికి ఒక బంగారు కొండ కనిపించింది. అర్జునుడు చాలా ఆశ్చర్యపోయాడు. అప్పుడు కృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడి వైపు చూసి ఈ బంగారు కొండను దానం చేయి. అప్పుడైనా నీకు కర్ణుడి కన్నా మంచి పేరు వస్తుందేమో అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు అర్జునుడు వెంటనే తన సేవకుల చేత చుట్టుపక్కల ఉన్న గ్రామాల వారికి బంగారం దానంగా తీసుకొమ్మని దండోరా వేయించాడు. అన్ని గ్రామాల ప్రజలు రావటం మొదలుపెట్టారు. అర్జునుడు బంగారాన్ని తవ్వించి చిన్న చిన్న ముక్కలు దానం చేయటం మొదలుపెట్టాడు. ఎంత మందికి దానం చేసినా బంగారం తరగటం లేదు. జనం సంఖ్య పెరుగుతూనే ఉంది.
ఒక రోజు అయ్యేసరికి అర్జునుడు అలసిపోయి కృష్ణా దానం చేయాలంటే చిరాకుగా ఉంది అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు కృష్ణుడు దానం ఎలా చేయాలో తెలుసుకో అని చెప్పి కర్ణుడిని పిలిపించి ఈ బంగారం కొండలు మాకు కనిపించాయి. వాటిని నువ్వు ఎవరికైనా దానం చేస్తే బావుంటుంది అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు వెంటనే కర్ణుడు అక్కడున్న ప్రజలందరి వైపు తిరిగి ఈ కొండలు మీవి. వీటిని తవ్వి తీసుకువెళ్లండి అన్నాడు. అందరూ తమకు కావల్సిన మేరకు బంగారం తీసుకెళ్లారు. అప్పుడు అర్జునుడితో కృష్ణుడు నీకు మనసులో బంగారంపై ఆశ ఉంది. అందుకే చిన్న చిన్న ముక్కలు పంచిపెట్టావు. కానీ కర్ణుడికి ఆశ లేదు. అందుకే వారికి కొండ అంతా ఇచ్చేశాడు. దానం చేసేవారి మనసులో ఎటువంటి ఆశ ఉండకూడదు. అప్పుడే ఆ దానం ఫలిస్తుంది అని బోధ చేశాడు.

అయితే ఒక సంవత్సరం అమ్మవారికి పండుగ చేసి ఓ గిరిజనుడు ప్రయాణంలో సగం దూరం వచ్చిన తరువాత చెంబు సంగతి గుర్తుకు వచ్చి వెను తిరిగి వెళ్ళాడు. ఆలయంలో మోద కొండమ్మ తనం ఏడుగురు అక్కాచెల్లెళ్లు, తమ్ముడు పోతురాజుతో కలసి భక్తులు తెచ్చిన ప్రసాదాన్ని భుజించే దృశ్యాన్ని భక్తుడు చూడడంతో అమ్మ ఆగ్రహించింది. ఇకపై తన వద్దకు ఎవరు రావద్దని, ఈ చెంబు ఎక్కడ పడితే అక్కడే తనకు గుడి కట్టి పూజలు, పండుగలు చేయాలనీ ఆదేశించింది.
అలా భక్తుడు వదిలేసిన చెంబును బలంగా కాలితో తన్నగా ప్రస్తుతం అమ్మవారి పాదాలుగా పేరొందిన పాడేరు – విశాఖపట్నం మార్గంలో పడింది. అప్పటి నుండి మన్యం వాసులంతా ఈ పాదాలు వద్దే పండుగ చేస్తున్నారు. ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ఇక్కడ జాతర కూడా నిర్వహిస్తారు.
హిందూ పురాణాలలో తులసిని వృందగా పిలుస్తారు. ఈమె కాలనేమి అనే రాక్షసుడి అందమైన కూతురు, యువరాణి. పరమశివుని ముఖ్యభాగం జలంధర్ ను ఆమె పెళ్ళాడుతుంది. శివుని మూడోకన్ను లోంచి పుట్టిన అగ్నిలోంచి పుట్టడం వలన జలంధర్ కి అపారశక్తి ఉన్నది. జలంధర్ ఎంతో పవిత్రం, భక్తురాలైన స్త్రీ అయిన యువరాణి వృందను ప్రేమిస్తాడు. వృంద మహావిష్ణువు పరమభక్తురాలు, జలంధర్ ఏమో అందరు దేవుళ్ళను అసహ్యించుకునేవాడు. కానీ విధి వల్ల ఇద్దరూ పెళ్ళాడతారు. నిజానికి ఆమెతో పెళ్ళయ్యాక ఆమె భక్తి, పవిత్రత వల్ల అతని శక్తి మరింత పెరిగిపోయింది. పరమశివుడు కూడా జలంధర్ ను ఓడించలేకపోతాడు. అతని మూర్ఖత్వం పెరిగిపోయి పరమశివునే ఓడించి విశ్వానికి అధిపతి కావాలనుకుంటాడు.
దేవతలు జలంధర్ శక్తులను చూసి భయపడతారు. వారు విష్ణుమూర్తి వద్దకు సాయం కోసం వెళ్తారు. విష్ణుమూర్తి, వృంద తన భక్తురాలు కావటంతో, ఆమెకు జరగబోయే అన్యాయం వల్ల సందిగ్థంలో పడతాడు. కానీ జలంధర్ వల్ల జరిగే నష్టం వల్ల మహావిష్ణువు ఒక మాయ చేయాలని నిర్ణయించుకుంటాడు. జలంధర్ పరమశివునితో యుద్ధంలో ఉండగా, విష్ణువు వృంద వద్దకు జలంధర్ రూపంలో వస్తాడు. వృంద అతన్ని గుర్తుపట్టలేక అతన్ని జలంధర్ అనే భావిస్తుంది. మహావిష్ణువు తాకగానే ఆమె తన భర్త కాదని గ్రహిస్తుంది. ఆమె పతివ్రత నిష్ట భగ్నం అయి, జలంధర్ బలహీనుడవుతాడు. తన తప్పు తెలుసుకుని, వృంద మహావిష్ణువు నిజరూపాన్ని కోరుతుంది. ఆమె తను పూజించిన దేవుడే తనని మాయ చేసాడని తెలిసి బాధపడుతుంది.
మహావిష్ణువు మారురూపం తెలుసుకుని, తన పవిత్రతపై జరిగిన మోసానికి వృంద మహావిష్ణువుని శపిస్తుంది. అతన్ని రాయికమ్మని శపిస్తుంది. విష్ణువు ఆమె శాపాన్ని అంగీకరించి గండక నది వద్ద సాలిగ్రామ శిలగా మారతాడు. దీని తర్వాత, జలంధర్ పరమశివుని చేతిలో హతుడవుతాడు. వృంద కృంగిపోయి, తన జీవితాన్ని కూడా ముగించాలనుకుంటుంది.

The Hindi-version of Arjun Reddy, title Kabir Singh, opened to a raging response at the box-office and many people had declared it as the career-best performance of Shahid Kapoor, who portrayed the protagonist and his attitude extremely well on-screen. Box-office wise, both the versions in Telugu and Hindi did give profits to the producers and distributors alike and it became one of the most profitable films.
Now, while watching Kabir Singh after almost two years of the release of Arjun Reddy, the response in the theater was quite different from its Telugu version. There were a few disagreeing reactions from the audience while watching some scenes especially in the one where Kabir slaps Preethi. Till then, everything seemed sweet on-screen and those in the audience who hadn’t watched Arjun Reddy were in a state of shock as to why he had to slap her irrespective of whatever the situation might be.

ఇంకా చాలా శివలింగాలు ఆలయం పరిసరాల్లో సముద్రపు ఇసుక లో ఉన్నట్టు మత్య్సకారులు చెబుతుంటారు. కాగా ఇక్కడ పురాతన వినాయకుడితో పాటు భారీ నందీశ్వరుడు కొలువుదీరి ఉన్నాడు. స్వామిని దర్శించి నందీశ్వరుని చెవిలో కోరిన కోర్కెలు చెబితే ఇట్టే తీరుతాయని ఆలయ అర్చకులు తెలిపారు. ఈ ఆలయానికి శివరాత్రి సందర్బంగా వేల మంది భక్తులు తరలివచ్చి స్వామిని దర్శించుకుంటారు.
ఆలయం ప్రాంగణంలో మరో రెండు శివలింగాలతో కూడిన ఉపాలయాలు ఉన్నాయి. వేల సంవత్సరాల నాటి ఈ ఆలయాలు సముద్రపు ఇసుకలో కప్పబడి ఉండటంతో కొంత శిధిలమయ్యాయి. అయితే ఈ ఆలయంలో ఆ నాటి శిల్ప కళ నైపుణ్యం మాత్రం అంతు చిక్కని శిల్పకళ గా చెబుతుంటారు.

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రంలోని, గుంటూరుజిల్లా నకరికల్లు మండలం లో చేజెర్ల అనే గ్రామంలో పురాతనమైన కపోతేశ్వరస్వామి దేవాలయం ఉంది. దానశీలుడైన శిబిచక్రవర్తి లింగరూపంలో వెలసిన క్షేత్రంగా చేజెర్ల కపోతేశ్వరాలయం ప్రతీతి. ఈ చారిత్రక గ్రామానికి దాదాపు 2 శతాబ్దాల చరిత్ర ఉంది. ఇక ఆలయ స్థ పురాణానికి వస్తే, కాశ్మీరుని పాలించే శిబిచక్రవర్తి పెద్ద తమ్ముడు ఇంకా రెండవ తమ్ముడు తీర్థయాత్రలు చేస్తూ గుంటూరు జిల్లా, చేరుంజర్ల గ్రామానికి వచ్చారు. ఇక్కడి పర్వత గుహల్లో తపస్సు చేసి వారు దేహ త్యాగం చేసి లింగాకారులై వెలిశారు. అది తెలిసిన శిబిచక్రవర్తి తన సోదరుల్లాగా ముక్తి పొందాలని ఇక్కడికి చేరుకొని నురుయాగాలు తలపెట్టాడు.
అయితే ఆ సమయంలో దేవతలు ఆయనని పరిక్షించాలని తలచి పావురం, కిరాత రూపధారులై వచ్చారట. కిరాతుడు వేసిన బాణానికి కాలు విరిగిన పావురం కుంటుకుంటూ శిబిని శరణు కోలుకుంది. అప్పుడు దానిని తనకు ఇవ్వమని కిరాతుడు శిబిని అడగగా అందుకు అయన అంగీకరించలేదు. అప్పడు బదులుగా పావురం ఎత్తు మాంసాన్ని తన దేహం నుండి ఇచ్చేందుకు సిద్ధపడ్డాడు.
త్రాసులో ఒకవైపు పావురాన్ని ఉంచి రెండవ వైపు తన సాయిరాం నుండి ఎంత మాంసం వేసిన అది పావురం బరువుతో సరితూగలేదు. చివరకు శిబి తన శిరస్సును నరుక్కునే ప్రయత్నం చేయడంతో దేవతలు ప్రత్యక్షమయ్యారు. అతని దాన శిలకు మెచ్చి, ఏదైనా వరం కోరుకో అనగా అందుకు అయన తనకు శివైక్య సంధానం కలిగించాలని కోరాడు. ఆలా కపోతాన్ని రక్షించి, శిబి లింగాకృతిని దాల్చినందు వల్ల ఆ లింగానికి కపోతేశ్వర లింగమని పేరొచ్చింది.
ఇలా జరిగిందనే దానికి నిదర్శనంగా ఆ లింగం పైన గంట్లు కనిపిస్తాయి. శిబి దేహం నుంచి తీసిన మాంసానికి ఈ గుంట్లే గుర్తు అని భక్తులు విశ్వసిస్తారు. ఈ లింగానికి కుడి ఎడమల రెండు బిలాలు ఉన్నాయి. కుడిబిలంలో ఒక బిందె నీరు పడుతుంది. ఎడమ బిలంలో ఎంత నీరు పోసిన నీరు నిండనే నిండదు. ఇంకా సాధారణానికి బిన్నంగా ఈ ఆలయంలోని నందీశ్వరుడు కపోతేశ్వరుడిని కుడి కంటితో వీక్షించడం మరో విశేషం. ఈవిధంగా శిబి చక్రవర్తి దానశీలుడై పావురం కోసం తననే బలి ఇవ్వడానికి సిద్దమై మోక్షాన్ని పొంది లింగరూపంలో ఇక్కడ వెలసి భక్తులచే పూజలనందుకొనుచున్నాడు.

ఈమె చూడటానికి వికారంగా, చేతిలో చాటతో, పొగసూరిన బట్టలతో, మెల్లకళ్ళతో, గుర్రంలేని బండిపై కూర్చుని ఉంటుంది. ఈమె వికారమైన రూపం మనకి సౌందర్యాన్ని మించింది ఎంతో ఉందని తెలియజేస్తుంది. ఇక ధూమవతి సిద్ధిని ప్రసాదించే తల్లి. ఈమెను ముఖ్యంగా వితంతువులు, పెళ్ళికాని వారు పూజిస్తుంటారు. ఈమెకు చాలా అరుదుగా గుడులు ఉంటాయి. తాంత్రికులు ఎక్కువగా సిద్ధిని పొందటానికి ఈమెను స్మశానాలలో రాత్రివేళలలో పూజిస్తుంటారు. ఈమెను చూస్తేనే ఎవరికైనా తీవ్రమైన భయాందోళనలు కలుగుతాయి. కానీ ఈమెను ఆరాధించేవారికి అపూర్వమైన వరాలను ఇచ్చి ఆదరిస్తుంది.
భగదత్తుడు నరకాసురుడి కుమారుడు మరియు భూదేవి మనువడు. ఇక పూర్వం, హిరణ్యాక్షుడు భూమిని సముద్ర గర్భంలో దాచిపెట్టినప్పుడు, జలప్రళయంలో మునిగిపోయిన భూమిని ఉధ్ధరించటానికి శ్రీ మహావిష్ణవు వరాహరూపాన్నిదాల్చి హిరణ్యాక్షుడు ని సంహరించి భూమిని పైకి తీసుకువస్తాడు. అప్పుడు భూదేవికి విష్ణుమూర్తి వరప్రసాదం వలన ఒక కుమారుడు జన్మిస్తాడు. అతడే నరకాసురుడు. అయితే భూదేవి తన కొడుకు రక్షణ కోసం, దేవతల చేతిలో గానీ దానవుల చేతిలో గానీ చనిపోకుండా ఉండడం కోసం వైష్ణవాస్త్రాన్ని అర్థించింది. అప్పుడు తన తల్లి చేతిలోనే మరణిస్తాడు అంటూ వైష్ణవాస్త్రాన్నిభూదేవికి ప్రసాదిస్తాడు. అప్పుడు భూదేవి ఆ వైష్ణవాస్త్రాన్ని తన కుమారుడైన నరకాసురునికి ఇస్తుంది. ఈ అస్రాన్ని నరకాసూరుడు తన కుమారుడైన భగదత్తుడుకి ఇస్తాడు. ఈ అస్రం అన్ని అస్రాల్లో కంటే ఎంతో వేగవంతమైన అస్రం. వైష్ణవాస్త్రానికి ఎదురుండదు. ఇంద్రుడూ రుద్రుడూ కూడా దానికి లొంగాల్సిందే. అంతేకాకుండా నరకాసురిడి దగ్గర సుప్రతికమనే పొగరు మోతు ఏనుగుంది. అది ఇంద్రుడి ఏనుగైన ఐరావత వంశానికి చెందిన ప్రసిద్ధమైన ఏనుగు అని చెబుతారు. ఇది అత్యంత శక్తివంతమైన ఏనుగు.
ఇక నరకాసురుడి దగ్గర నుండి అతడి మరణాంతరం వైష్ణవాస్త్రాన్ని, ఆ ఏనుగును పొందుతాడు భగదత్తుడు. భగదత్తుడూ సుప్రతీకమూ కలిసి యుద్ధం చేస్తే ఎదుటి వారు హడలి పోయేవారు. అయితే శ్రీకృష్ణుడు తన తండ్రిని చంపాడని కృష్ణుడి పైన ప్రతీకారం తీర్చుకోవడం కోసం కౌరవుల పక్షాన చేరుతాడు. ఇలా యుద్ధం లో అడుగుపెట్టిన భగదత్తుడూ 12 వ రోజున యుద్ధ రంగంలో విరుచుకుపడ్డాడు. పాండవుల సైన్యాన్ని మట్టుబెడుతుంటే అటుగా భీముడు వెళ్లి భయంకర యుద్ధం చేస్తుండగా, శ్రీ కృష్ణుడు ముందు భగదత్తుడూ వైపుకు వెళ్లి అతడిని ఎలా అయినా రాజు అంతం చేయాలంటూ రథాన్ని భగదత్తుడూ వైపుకు పంపాడు.
అర్జునుడు బాణవర్షం కురిపిస్తూ వస్తుండగా, భగదత్తుడు తన ఏనుగుతో ధనంజయుడి మీదకు దూసుకొని వచ్చాడు. ఇద్దరూ తుములమైన యుద్ధం చేయడం ప్రారంభించారు. సుప్రతీకం అక్కడి ఏనుగుల్నీ రథాల్నీ రథికుల్నీ గుర్రాల్నీ ఆశ్వికుల్నీ యమలోకానికి పంపించే పని అవిచ్ఛి న్నంగా సాగిస్తూనే ఉంది. భగదత్తుడి పద్నాలుగు ఇనప గదల్ని ముక్కలు చేసేశాడు అర్జునుడు. ఏనుగు కవచాన్ని ఛేదించి, ఆ మీద బాణవర్షంతో దాన్ని ముంచెత్తాడు అర్జునుడు. అది వర్ష ధారలతో చిత్తడిసిన పర్వతంలా తయారయింది. భగదత్తుడి రాజఛత్రాన్నీ ధ్వజాన్నీ ముక్కలు చేసి, వాడి అయిన బాణాలతో అతన్ని దెబ్బతీశాడు. కోపంతో భగదత్తుడు తన చేతిలో ఉన్న అంకుశాన్నే వైష్ణవాస్త్ర మంత్రంతో అభిమంత్రించి అర్జునుడి మీదకు విసిరాడు. వైష్ణవాస్త్రం అన్నిటినీ సర్వనాశనం చేస్తుందని తెలిసిన కృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడికి అడ్డుగా వచ్చి ఆ అస్త్రాన్ని తన వక్షస్సు మీద గ్రహించాడు. అది కృష్ణుడి మెడలో వైజయంతీమాలగా మారిపోయింది.
అప్పుడు కృష్ణుడు వైష్ణవాస్త్రం తాలూకు అమోఘత్వాన్ని వివరించి చెప్పాడు: ‘దాన్ని నేను తప్ప ఎవరూ నాశనం చెయ్య లేరు. ఇప్పుడది పోయింది గనక ఆలస్యం చేయకుండా, వాడి నాన్నను లోకహితం కోసం నేను చంపినట్టు, నువ్వు ధర్మం కోసం భగదత్తుణ్ని అంతం చెయ్యి అని చెప్పాడు.
అయితే ఇక్కడ శ్రీకృష్ణుడికి ఒక రహస్యం తెలుసు, అదేంటంటే, భగదత్తుడి కనిపించనంతగా రెప్పలు వాలిపోయి మూసుకు పోయాయి. కళ్లను తెరిచి ఉంచడానికి రెప్పల్ని పైకి పట్టి ఉంచేలాగ ఒక దళసరి పట్టీతో నొసటి మీద కట్టుకొని ఉంటాడు. ఈ పట్టీ రహస్యం శ్రీకృష్ణుడు అర్జునుడికి చెప్పి ముందస్తుగా అతని రెప్పలక్కట్టిన పట్టీని కొట్టి వాడి కళ్లు మూసుకొనిపోయేలాగ చెయ్యి అంటూ ఉపాయాన్ని ఉపదేశించాడు. కృష్ణుడి ఉపదేశాన్ని అర్జునుడు అమలు చేశాడు. భగదత్తుణ్ని బాణాలతో ముంచెత్తి, అతని ఏనుగు కుంభస్థలాన్ని బాణంతో వేటు వేశాడు. ఏనుగు తటాలున కూలిపోయింది. అతని రెప్పల్ని కట్టిన పట్టీని అర్జునుడు భగదత్తుడికి లోకమంతా చీకటిమయమై పోయింది. అప్పుడు ఒక అర్ధచంద్ర బాణంతో భగదత్తుడి గుండెను చీల్చగానే అతను నేలకూలిపోయాడు.

ఉజ్జయిని మహారాజైన విక్రమార్కుడి ఒక యాచకుడు రోజు ఒక పండు పంపించేవాడు. ఆ పండుని కొస్తే అందులో మని ఉండేది. అది చూసి ఆశ్చర్యానికి గురైన విక్రమార్కుడు ఆ యాచకుడిని కలవాలని అనుకోగా, ఆ యాచకుడు నెలలో 14 వ రోజు అర్ధరాత్రి ఒంటరిగా వస్తే కలుస్తానని కబురు పంపాడు. ఆ వింత ఎలా అయినా తెలుసుకోవాలనుకున్న విక్రమార్కుడు ఒంటరిగా వెళ్లి యాచకుడిని కలువగా, అతడు చెట్టు మీద ఉండే శవాన్ని తీసుకురమ్మని అలా తీసుకువస్తే నాకు అపారమైన క్షుద్ర శక్తి వస్తుందని చెప్పడంతో తీసుకువస్తానని మాట ఇస్తాడు.
విక్రమార్కుడు ఒక చెట్టు మీద ఉన్న శవాన్ని తన భుజంపై వేసుకుని వస్తుండగా ఆ శవంలో బేతాళుడు ఉంటాడు. అయితే బేతాళుడు విక్రమార్కుడితో ప్రయాణం చేయాలంటే దారిలో ఏమి మాట్లాడకూడదు, ఇంకా బేతాళుడు ఒక కథ చెప్పి ఆ కథ నుండి ఒక క్లిష్తమైన ప్రశ్న అడిగితే దానికి సరైన సమాధానం చెప్పకపోతే విక్రమార్కుడి తల బద్దలవుతుంది. దానికి విక్రమార్కుడు అంగీకరిస్తాడు. అయితే బేతాళుడు మొత్తం 25 కథలు చెబుతాడు. అందులో ఒక కథ ఏంటంటే, పూర్వం విక్రమసింహుడు అనే రాజు ఉండేవాడు, ఆ రాజ్యంలో సారంగడు అనే ఒక యువకుడు పులితో పోరాడి విజయాన్ని సాధించాడని తెలిసి అతడిని తన అంగరక్షకుడిగా నియమించుకుంటాడు.
ఒక రోజు రాజు ఇంకా ఆ యువకుడు కలసి వేటకు బయలుదేరి వెళ్లగా, అడవిలోకి చాలాదూరం వెళ్లిన తరువాత రాజుకి దాహం అవ్వగా సారంగడు గుర్రంపైన వెళ్లి దగ్గరలో నీరు ఎక్కడైనా ఉందొ చూసి వస్తానని చెప్పి వచ్చి దగ్గరలో ఒక సెలయేరు ఉందని చెప్పడంతో ఇద్దరు అక్కడికి చేరుకుంటారు. అక్కడ ఒక దూత వచ్చి రాజుతో రహస్యంగా మాట్లాడి వెళ్లగా, రాజు సారంగడితో, నీవు నాకు చాలా నమ్మకస్తుడివి, నీకు నేను నీకు పని అప్పగిస్తున్నాను, వైశాలి రాజా కుమార్తె ఎంతో అందమైనది, తెలివైనది, గుణవంతురాలు, ఆమెని నేను వివాహం చేసుకోవాలని అనుకుంటున్నాను, నీవు వారి రాజ్యానికి వెళ్లి న గురించి చెప్పి ఆ రాణిని ఎలాగైనా ఒప్పించాలి అని చెప్పడంతో, రాజు ఆజ్ఞతో సముద్ర మార్గం గుండా పడవ ప్రయాణం చేస్తూ ఉండగా కొన్ని రోజులకి తుఫాను వచ్చి పడవ విరిగిపోగా అలలపైనా ప్రయాణిస్తూ ఒక ద్విపానికి చేరుకుంటాడు.
అతనికి అక్కడ ఒక కాళీమాత ఆలయం కనిపించడంతో అక్కడికి వెళ్లి చూడగా అక్కడ కొందరు యువతులు పూజలు చేస్తూ ఉండగా అందులో అందరికంటే ఒక సౌదర్యవతిని చూసి సారంగడు ఆమెని వివాహం చేసుకోవాలని భావించి, అక్కడ ఉన్నవారితో ఎవరు మీరు అని అడుగగా, మేము నాగ కన్యలం, ఆమె మరాకుమారి అమృతవల్లి అని చెబుతారు. అప్పుడు అతడు ఆమెని వివాహం చేసుకుంటాని చెప్పడంతో అమృతవల్లి ముందు కోనేటిలో స్నానం చేసి రా అని చెప్పడంతో వెళ్లి కోనేటిలో మునుగగా, కుశస్థలి రాజ్యంలోని కాళీమాత ఆలయం లో ని కోనేటిలో తేలాడు. అప్పుడు ఆశ్చర్యపోయిన సారంగడు వెంటను విక్రమసింహ రాజుని కలసి జరిగిన విషయాన్ని వివరించాడు.
అపుడు రాజు ఇంకా సారాంగుడు ఆ ద్విపానికి వెళ్లి నాగకన్యలా కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తుండగా, పూజ ముంగించుకున్న రాకుమారి, నేను రాజుని ఇష్టపడుతున్నాను మీరు ఒప్పుకుంటే వివాహం చేసుకుంటానని నాగకన్యలతో చెప్పించగా, రాజు వెళ్లి రాకుమారి వైశాలి రాకుమార్తెను ప్రేమించాను, నిన్ను ప్రేమిస్తున్న సారంగుని పెళ్లి చేసుకోమని వారి వివాహాన్ని జరిపిస్తాడు. ఇలా కథ చెబుతున్న బేతాళుడు రాజా ఇప్పుడు విక్రమసింహుడు, సారంగడు ఒకరికి ఒకరు ఉపకారం చేసుకున్నారు కదా ఇద్దరిలో ఎవరి ఉపకారం గొప్పదో చెప్పు అని అనడంతో, అప్పుడు విక్రమార్కుడు, బేతాళ, సారంగడు సేవకుడు తన రాజుని ఆదుకోవడం అతని ధర్మం, అది విధి నిర్వహణలో భాగం, రాజైన విక్రమసింహుడు సారంగడు అమృతవల్లి పెట్టుకున్న ఆశలు గుర్తించి, తనను చేపట్టిన స్త్రీని సారంగునికి ఇచ్చి వివాహం జరిపించడం మహాపకారం అన్నాడు. ఇలా బేతాళుడికి మౌనభంగం కావడంతో వెంటనే శవంతో లేచి చెట్టుపైకి వెళ్లిపోయింది.

పూర్వం నిఘ్నుడు అనే ఒక రాజు ఉండగా అతడికి సత్రాజిత్తు, ప్రసేనుడు అనే ఇద్దరు కొడుకులు. ఒక రోజు సత్రాజిత్తు సూర్యభగవానుడిని ప్రార్ధించగా, సూర్యుడు విపరీతమైన కాంతితో దర్శనమివ్వగా ఆ కాంతి వలన సత్రాజిత్తుకి సూర్యుడు కనిపించలేదు. అప్పుడు సూర్యభగవానుడు నేను ఈరోజు శమంతకమణి ధరించి ఉన్నందున నీకు కనిపించలేదు అని ఆ మణిని తీసి పక్కనబెట్టాడు. అప్పుడు ఆ మణిని చూసి ఆశపడిన సత్రాజిత్తు శమంతకమణి ని తనకివ్వమని ప్రార్ధించగా, ఇది ధరించడానికి అందరు అర్హులు కారు, ఈ మణి అగ్నికి సంబంధించినది. రోజుకు కావాల్సినంత బంగారాన్ని కూడా ఇస్తుందని కొన్ని జాగ్రత్తలను చెప్పి దానిని సత్రాజిత్తుకు ఇవ్వగా, ఆ మణి ధరించి విపరీతమైన కాంతితో రావడం చూసిన శ్రీకృష్ణుడు సత్రాజిత్తుని అడిగి శమంతకమణి గురించి తెలుసుకొని దానిని తనకివ్వమని అడుగగా ఇవ్వడానికి సత్రాజిత్తుడు నిరాకరించాడు.
ఇది ఇలా ఉంటె, వినాయకచవితి పూజలో శమంతకమణి కథ చాలా ముఖ్యమైంది. ఎందుకంటే, చవితి రోజున చంద్రుడిని చూడకూడదు చుస్తే అపనిందలు తప్పవు అని అంటారు. శ్రీకృష్ణుడు చవితి రోజున పొరపాటున చంద్రుడిని చూస్తాడు. అయితే సత్రాజిత్తు తమ్ముడైన ప్రసేనుడు శమంతకమణి ధరించి వేటకు వెళ్లగా అయన వెళుతున్న అశ్వాన్ని ఒక సింహం చంపి, ప్రసేన జిత్తును పంజాతో విసిరేసి, శమంతకమణిని తీసుకొని వెళుతుంది. అయితే ప్రసేనుడిని చంపి శ్రీకృష్ణుడే శమంతకమణి దొంగలించాడనే అపనింద వస్తుంది. అప్పుడు శ్రీకృష్ణుడు శమంతకమణి వెతుకుంటూ ఆ సమయంలో జాంబవంతుడి ఆ సింహాన్ని చంపి ఆ మణిని తీసుకొని గుహలోకి వెళ్తాడు.
ఆ తరువాత శ్రీకృష్ణుడు చనిపోయినా సింహాన్ని, గుర్రాన్ని దాటుకొని జాంబవంతుడు ఉన్నగుహలోకి వెళ్తాడు. ఆ మణి గురించి శ్రీ కృష్ణుడు ఎంత చూపిన జాంబవంతుడు వినకపోవడంతో ఇద్దరికీ పెద్ద యుద్ధం జరిగింది. ఇలా 28 రోజుల భీకర ద్వంద్వ యుద్ధం తరువాత రాముడితో యుద్ధం చేయాలనే కోరిక నెరవేరడంతో యుద్దాన్ని విరమించి మణిని, తన కూతురిని శ్రీకృష్ణుడి చేతిలో పెడతాడు.
అప్పుడు శ్రీకృష్ణుడు ద్వారకకు బయలుదేరి సత్రాజిత్తుకు మణిని అప్పగించడంతో తన తప్పుని తెలుసుకొని శ్రీకృష్ణుడికి తన కుమార్తె అయినా సత్యభామని ఇచ్చి వివాహం చేసి శమంతకమణి కూడా ఇవ్వగా ఆ మణిని సత్రాజిత్తుకే ఇచ్చి శ్రీకృష్ణుడు సత్యబామతో కలసి వెళ్ళిపోతాడు. ఇక చివరకు శ్రీకృష్ణుడు తనువూ చాలించిన తరువాత ద్వారకా తో పాటుగా శమంతకమణి కూడా సముద్ర గర్భంలో కలసిపోయిందని, ఇప్పటికి మునిగిపోయిన ద్వారకాలో ఎక్కడో ఒక చోట శమంతకమణి ఉండే ఉంటుందని కొందరి నమ్మకం.
శ్రీకృష్ణుడి బాల్య స్నేహితుడైన ఉద్దవుడు మహాభారతం చివర్లో శ్రీకృష్ణుడిని ఉద్ధవుడు కొన్ని ప్రశ్నలను అడిగాడు. అవి ఏంటంటే, నువ్వు పాండవులకు అత్యంత ఆప్తుడివి కదా ధర్మరాజు జూదం ఆడకుండా ఆపొచ్చు లేదా ధర్మరాజు తరుపున నువ్వు ఆడి ఉండొచ్చు కదా అని అడుగంటా, అప్పుడు దానికి శ్రీకృష్ణుడు, ఉద్దవా ! గుర్తుపెట్టుకో, ఎప్పుడూ వివేకం ఉన్నవాడిదే గెలుపు. సుయోధనుడు వివేకవంతుడు, తనకి ఆట రాదు కనుక శకునితో ఆడించాడు.
ధర్మరాజుకు ఆ వివేకం లేదు. ధర్మరాజు కూడా నన్ను ఆడమని అడిగి ఉంటె వేరేలా ఉండేది, కాని అతను అలా చేయలేదు. నేను అతను పిలుస్తాడని ఆ గుమ్మం ముందే ఎదురు చూస్తున్నాను. అతను పిలవలేదు సరి కదా, నేను అటువైపు రాకూడదని ప్రార్ధించాడు. అతని ప్రార్ధన మన్నించి నేను వెళ్ళలేదు. మిగిలిన పాండవులు అందరూ ఓడిపోయినందుకు ధర్మరాజుని తిడుతున్నారే కాని నన్ను పిలవలేదు. ద్రౌపది కూడా వస్త్రాలు తొలిగించే వరకు నన్ను స్మరించలేదు. నన్ను పిలిచి ఉంటే రాకుండా ఉంటానా అని జవాబు ఇచ్చాడు.
అప్పుడు ఉద్ధవుడు, అంటే తీవ్రమైన ఆపదల్లో కూరుకుపోయి పిలిస్తే కాని రావా ? అని అడుగగా, కృష్ణుడు, జీవితంలో జరిగే ప్రతీది కర్మానుసారం జరుగుతుంది. నేను కర్మని మార్చలేను, కాని మీ పక్కనే ఉండి ప్రతీదీ గమనిస్తూ ఉంటాను అని అనగా ఉద్ధవుడు, అంటే మా పక్కనే ఉండి, మేము కష్టాలలో, ఆపదల్లో , చిక్కుల్లో కూరుకుపోతుంటే చూస్తూ ఉంటావే తప్ప ఏమి చేయవా ? అని మళ్ళీ ఎదురు ప్రశ్న వేయగా అప్పుడు కృష్ణుడు, ఉద్దవా ! ఇక్కడే నువ్వు ఓ విషయం గమనించడం లేదు. నేను పక్కనే ఉన్నానని నువ్వు గుర్తించగలిగితే అసలు తప్పు ఎలా చేయగలవ్. కానీ మీరు నేను ఉన్నాను అనే విషయం మర్చిపోయి నాకు తెలీదు అనుకోని, ప్రతీది చేస్తుంటారు అందుకే ఇబ్బందుల్లో పడతారు అని చెప్పాడంటా.
దేవుడు ఎక్కడ లేదు అను నిత్యం మన పక్కనే ఉంటాడు ఆ విషయాన్ని మనం గుర్తించి ముందుకు వెళితే చాలు జీవితం ఎప్పుడు సంతోషంగా ఉంటుందని శ్రీ కృష్ణ రహస్యంగా చెపుతారు.
మహారాష్ట్రలోని మహాబలేశ్వర్ కు ఉత్తరంగా ఉన్న మహాదేవ్ పర్వత శ్రేణిలో కృష్ణానది జన్మించగా, చిన్నధారగ మొదలై అనేక ఉపనదులను కలుపుకుంటూ మహారాష్ట్ర, కర్ణాటక తరువాత ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లోకి ప్రవేశించి దివిసీమలో బంగాళాఖాతంలో కృష్ణనది కలుస్తుంది. భారతదేశంలో నాలుగవ పెద్ద నదిగా చెప్పబడే కృష్ణానది మొత్తం పొడవు 1400 కీ.మీ. ఇక కృష్ణానదిని తెలుగు ప్రజలు కృష్ణవేణిగా పిలుచుకోగా, మహారాష్ట్రలో కృష్ణానది జన్మించిన స్థలంలోనే ఒక ఆలయం ఉంది. ఈ ఆలయాన్ని కృష్ణబాయి ఆలయమని పిలుస్తారు. అయితే 17 వ శతాబ్దానికి చెందిన ఈ ఆలయంలో శ్రీకృష్ణుడి కొలువై ఉన్నాడు.
ఇక్కడే మహాదేవుని ఆలయం ఉంది. ఇక్కడే వెన్న, సావిత్రి, గాయత్రీ, క్వయిన అనే నదులతో కలిపి మొత్తం ఐదు నదులు ఇక్కడే జన్మించినట్లుగా చెబుతారు. అయితే వెన్నానది కొంత దూరం ప్రవహించి కృష్ణానదిలో కలుస్తుంది. కృష్ణ, వెన్నా ఈ రెండు నదులు కలసి కృష్ణవేణి నదిగా ముందుకు ప్రవహించగా, కోయినానది మహాబలేశ్వర్ కొండల్లో పుట్టి అందులో ఒక పాయ మహాబలేశ్వర్ వైపు వచ్చి కృష్ణానదిలో కలుస్తుంది. ఇక్కడే గోముఖం నుండి ఎప్పుడు నీరు అనేది వస్తుంటుంది. ఇక్కడ గోముఖం నుండి వచ్చే నీరే ఐదు నదులకు ప్రతిరూపమని చెబుతారు.
ఇక కృష్ణానది జన్మించిన స్థానం ఒక కొండ మొదలులోనే ఒక ఎత్తైన చోట కొండ అంచు ఉంది. ఇది ఇలా ఉంటె ఆలయ ప్రవేశ ద్వారానికి ఎదురుగా ఐదు తూములు లాంటి రంద్రాలు ఉండగా, ఇవి ఒకదానికి ఒకటి ఆరు అగుడుల దూరంలో ఉన్నాయి. ఈ ఒక్కో రంద్రం గుండా నీరు ఎపుడు వస్తూ ఉంటుంది. అయితే ఈ ఐదు నదులు ఆలయానికి వెనుకవైపు ఉన్న కొండమీద నుండి ప్రవహిస్తూ వస్తూ, ఈ రంద్రాల గుండా కాలువలోకి చేరి ఒకే నదిగా ప్రవహిస్తాయి. అదే కృష్ణానదిగా ప్రవహిస్తుంది. దీనినే పంచగంగ అని అంటారు.

హిమాలయాల పర్వతాలలో ఒక పర్వతమే కాంచనగంగా పర్వతం. నేపాల్, సిక్కిం తూర్పు తీరప్రాంతంలో ఉండే ప్రాంతమే కాంచనగంగ. ఈ శిఖరం సముద్రమట్టానికి సుమారు 8598 మీటర్ల ఎత్తులో ఉంటుంది. సిక్కిం ప్రజలు ఈ పర్వతాన్ని దైవంగా భావిస్తూ పూజలు చేస్తుంటారు. అందుకే ఒకప్పుడు ఎవరైనా ఈ శిఖరాన్ని ఎక్కేముందు శిఖరం పై వరకు ఎవరు వెళ్లకూడదని చివర్లో కొంత దూరంలో ఆగిపోవాలని ఆదేశించాడట. ఇప్పటికి కూడా ఎవరు కూడా పూర్తిగా పైవరకు ఎక్కడకూడదనే నిబంధన ఉందని చెబుతారు.
ఇక కాంచనగంగ విషయానికి వస్తే, ఇక్కడ సూర్యోదయం అప్పుడు జరిగే అద్భుతాన్ని చూడాలని అనుకునేవారు డార్జ్లింగ్ మార్గ మధ్యలో ఉన్న టైగెర్ హిల్ ని దర్శించాలి. ఇక ఉదయం 5 గంటల సమయంలోనే టైగెర్ హిల్ కి చేరుకోగా అక్కడ ఒక అద్భుత దృశ్యం కనిపిస్తుంది. మనం రోజు చూసే సూర్యోదయానికి, ఇక్కడ చూసే సూర్యోదయానికి ఎంతో తేడా అనేది కనిపిస్తుంది. అయితే టైగెర్ హిల్ ఉపరితలంపై సూర్యుడు తన కిరణాలతో కంచగంగ ని తరుముతున్నట్లుగా తొలి కిరణాలూ ప్రసరిస్తాయి. ఇలా సూర్యకిరణాలు లోయలోకి సాగుతుండగా పర్వతం తెల్లని కాంతులతో కనబడుతుంది. ఆ తరువాత బంగారు కాంతులతో మెరుస్తూ ఉంటుంది. ఆ తరువాత సూర్యుడు సంపూర్ణంగా దర్శనం ఇచ్చిన తరువాత చివరకు నీలం రంగులోకి మారిపోగా ఆ దృశ్యాన్ని చూడటానికి రెండు కళ్ళు చాలవు అనేవిధంగా అనుభూతి వస్తుంది.

కెన్యాలోని రుడోల్ఫ్ సరస్సు దగ్గర ఒక ఐలాండ్ ఉంది. దీన్నే నో రిటర్న్ ఐలాండ్ అని అంటారు. ఈ ఐలాండ్ కొన్ని కిలోమీటర్లు విస్తరించి ఉంది. అయితే ఈ ఐలాండ్ చూడటానికి వెళ్ళినవారు అక్కడికి వెళ్లడమే తప్ప మళ్ళీ తిరిగిరాలేదని చెబుతున్నారు. అందుకే ఎవరు నివసించని ఈ ఐలాండ్ కి నో రిటర్న్ ఐలాండ్ అనే పేరు వచ్చినది చెబుతారు. ఒక ఇద్దరు బ్రిటిష్ సైంటిస్టులు 1935 లో ఐలాండ్ లోకి వెళ్లారట. ఆలా వెళ్లిన వీరు వెనకకి తిరిగిరావడంతో వీరి వెంట వచ్చిన బృందం విమానం ద్వారా ఎంత వెతికినప్పటికీ వారి ఆచూకి లభించలేదట. ఇలా వారి ఆచూకీ కోసం వెతుకుతుండగా ఐలాండ్ లో ఒక నిర్మానుష్య గ్రామం కనిపించదట. ఒకప్పుడు ఇక్కడ ముషులు నివసించేవారని ఆ తరువాత ఇక్కడి వారందరు చనిపోవడంతో గ్రామం నిర్మానుష్యం అయిందని ఆ శాపం కారణంగానే ఇక్కడికి ఎవరు వెళ్లిన తిరిగి రావడంలేదని చెబుతున్నారు. ఇది ఇలా ఉంటె ఒకప్పుడు ఇక్కడ ఎవరు నివసించేవారు, ఎందుకు ఇక్కడి గ్రామం ఆలా నిర్మానుష్యంగా మారింది, ఐలాండ్ లోకి వెళ్ళినవారు ఎందుకు తిరిగి రావడం లేదు అనేది ఇప్పటికి అంతుపట్టని విషయమే.
