Hyderabad’s RGIA Becomes First To Facilitate E-Boarding For Domestic Flights

0
Hyderabad Internaitional Airport,RGIA,E-Boarding

You can now finish the tedious and time taking boarding process from the comfort of your home, using just a smartphone.

As a step towards ‘Digital India’, Hyderabad’s RGIA is now the first airport in the country to offer E-boarding facility to domestic fliers.

Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union Civil Aviation Minister inaugurated this facility today. Right from the entry into the terminal arena to boarding the actual flight, this new service covers all the boarding cards issued at the check-in counters, even the physical boarding passes issued by the CUSS (Common Use Self Service) machines.

With this in-house built facility, a domestic flier will only need a mobile E-boarding card and his/her Aadhar Card number to enter the airport.

The CEO of GMR Hyderabad Internaitional Airport Ltd., SGK Kishore said “We are happy to announce a comprehensive end-to-end E-boarding solution, first time at any Indian airport. After the successful pilot of the project and a go-ahead from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), we have used our internal capabilities to commence E-boarding (facility) in shortest possible time”

With the use of E-boarding card as a sole property in order to gain entry into the airport to boarding the flight, the security is also be made easy. The passenger is tracked throughout his stay in the airport through this E-boarding card. Since the entry of a passenger is time bound in line with the flight timings, the E-boarding reader will not allow passengers inside the terminal before the mentioned time. This will also avoid any congestion inside the airport.

While the traditional process of entering the airport by showing your photo-ID in place of Aadhar Card is still in place, this new feature is bound to ease your tension before you take off on that all-important journey.

After months of efforts, the Iraqi army has managed to make considerable inroads into the Islamic State, popularly known as ISIS.

In a news release yesterday, the Iraqi army declared a victory over ISIS in Ramadin, one of the most strategically important cities in the war against ISIS.

This victory is important keeping in mind the fact that in May, ISIS stormed to power in Ramadin when Iraqi forces fled the warzone in spite of possessing bigger arms and ammunition, provided by the US army.

However, since the Paris Attacks, the war against ISIS has become a multipronged strategy, with some of the world’s biggest powers including USA, UK, France, and Russia getting together to bomb ISIS strongholds.

The victory is a small battle in the larger war against ISIS, which is known to use visuals of bombing to help their own cause and generate sympathy for themselves.

India has the world’s third most number of start up companies

Start up company India

With Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Make in India’, it looks like the nation has responded tremendously.

According to a report by NASSCOM, India ranks third among countries with the most start up companies. With more than 4,200 ‘new-age companies’, India only ranks behind USA and UK.

Start up companies have become a rage in a nation which is easily crossing basic barriers of Roti, Kapda, Makaan, and more and more youth are opting to start their own companies, rather than fall back on the security of a job.

The report goes on to reveal that there are three to four start up companies being formed every day, and this is a sign of the things to come. Bangalore and Mumbai have turned out to be the hub for start up companies in India.

While PM Narendra Modi’s call to ‘Make in India’ was met with general enthusiasm and some scepticism, the trend that is India seems to be following proves him right after all.

Ramu is back! Killing Veerappan trailer goes viral

0
RGV, Killing Veerappan

Ram Gopal  Varma, who has been going through a terrible phase in his career for about ten years, seems to be back in his elements, with the release of his latest project – Killing Veerappan.

The film is based on the life of dreaded sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, who terrorised the people of Karnataka, and police and IAS officers for more than 20 years. Famous for his moustache, and infamous for the number of people and elephants he killed, Veerappan was as much a dreaded dacoit, as a part of India’s urban legend.

Veerappan was finally killed on October 18, 2004 after hundreds of crores were spent in his pursuit. It was alleged that he had been betrayed by one of his men, which led to his capture.

As legendary as the story is, the trailer seems to have caught the attention of the netizens of India. The film stars newcomer Sandeep Bharadwaj as Veerappan, and Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar as the officer in charge of nabbing Veerappan.

Let’s hope this film revives Ramu’s career and launches a second innings of brilliance from him!

Irrfan Khan to star in Tom Hanks thriller ‘Inferno’

0
Irrfan Khan Tom Hanks Inferno

Irrfan Khan to feature in Tom Hanks’ ‘Inferno’.

Irrfan Khan, who has acted in a number of Hollywood films, and is easily the most recognisable Indian actor in Hollywood, is set to add another feather to his cap by acting with Tom Hanks in the third instalment of the series starring Tom Cruise.

The film is a sequel to Angels and Demons, and is based on author Dan Brown’s book – Inferno.

Tom Hanks is set to reprise his role as Harvard University professor Robert Langdon, as he takes on secret and occult organisations who are trying to take on the world. While the idea might seem laughable as we live in a world with ISIS and other terror organisations, the novels were a huge hit and has given author Dan Brown a cult status.

In fact, according to legend, the author doesn’t have a public life, and his residential address is kept a secret.

10 Telugu Actors Who Surprised Us With Their Singing

0

Sometimes as a hobby we all love singing. But as a profession, not all of us have the needed skills. The singers we listen to in our music players are skilled professionals. Similarly, every field has its own required skills. For some lighter moments, some of our Telugu actors tried their hand in recording for a song. Once they stepped into the recording theater, that song earned a special importance to be heard. Everyone wanted to listen how the actor would sound when he/she sings.

CHIRU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6N0A3a-QIs

Thammudu.. arey thammudu from Master – This was one of the first songs to be sung by an actor in Telugu. One can easily find out that the singer is not professional, but who cares, the actor chose to sing it. He sang it!

PAWAN KALYAN

Kaatama Rayuda from Atharintiki Daredi – While PK had sung even in earlier movies, this one song was a delightful surprise and PK sang it with all ease.

NITHIIN

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgEGMdk9CUA

Lachamma from Ishq – We all know how it performed! In fact, it was after this song, the craze to sing for many actors grew.

SWATHI REDDY & NIKHIL SIDHARTH

Yo yo yo yo memu (Hangover) from Swamy Ra Ra – A peppy number has Swathi’s voice dominating throughout.

NITYA MENEN

Ammamo Ammo from Ala Modhalaindhi – Nitya Menen was a total surprise for Telugu cinema with this movie. Nandini Reddy’s find was a multi talented star. The best of the lot here.

RASHI KHANNA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYDWILkVtlU

Joru from Joru – The title song of Joru is a proper mix of all the Telugu poems in a hummable tune. While from childhood, we had troubles in mugging up the poems, Rashi sang it with all ease.

RAVI TEJA

Notanki Notanki from Power – Ravi Teja’s another combo with SS Thaman. The auto-tuning in this one makes and breaks the song. One can hardly recognise if this is Ravi Teja’s voice.

Jr. NTR

Raakhasi from Rabhasa – Though a decent song, auto tuning is the same issue here too. Guess that’s the issue with almost all of SS Thaman songs.

LAKSHMI MANCHU

Yaandiroo from Dongata – One rare moment when you also get to hear Lakshmi Manchu sing.

SAMPOORNESH BABU

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGPDIGF0NHw

Kobbari Aakulu Kalagalipe from Kobbari Matta – It’s unbelievable but surprisingly Sampoornesh Babu delivered a soothing song (minus the lyrics). He is not going to stop!!

Trying to cheat Flipkart? Beware!

Cheat Flipkart

Two techies have been arrested for trying to cheat Flipkart of 50,000 by accusing the company of sending them fake products.

In a bizzare and absolutely stupid incident in Hyderabad, two techies – Atul Sharma and Naveen Kumar – have been arrested after they ordered an iPhone. When the phone arrived, they returned the package claiming that it only contained paper and rubber.

Flipkart, as per its policy, returned the amount that was paid. However, when the company carried out an internal audit, by tracking the IMEI number of the phone. The IMEI number revealed that the phone was in possession of Atul Kumar.

There have been lots of reports in the recent past about e-commerce websites sending their customers rubber, soap and paper. The posts are popular on Facebook and other social media websites, but there is no denying the fact that if you’re trying to cheat Flipkart and other websites, you must know that the companies carry out extensive investigations about product claims.

Telangana In 2015 : Best initiatives by KCR this year

0

By Bhavneet Singh

Heading in to 2016, the people of Telangana are confused because they have no clue if the year that rushed by was a good year for them, or a disaster.

Maybe the reason the current year felt so uneventful was because there was a lot went down in the region since the inception of the Telangana moment way back in 2009.

Although this year might not have seen Osmania University burn down dramatically, or a pink resurgence in elections, there is plenty that the government of the 29th state of the country did.

Here’s a look at Telangana’s highlights of this year.

Getting people connected

www.macobserver.com

Being the youngest state in the country, the government of Telangana realized that it needed to behave like the youngest one too. And to do so, Telangana became the first state government to provide free wifi for its citizens in various parts of the city. And to people’s relief the wifi wasn’t being provided in association with BSNL – a company widely known for its extraordinary internet speeds. The tie up instead was with a company that has been spamming our television screen with a woman who keeps saying 4G but that ends up sounding like she’s saying soldier in Hindi (fauji) – Airtel.

Securing the internet

Realising  that providing internet is just the first step to making Telangana a hi-tech state, the government came up with the most unique way of adding a cyber security course of select Engineering colleges in the city. Tied directly with NASSCOMM, this initiative will help the state provide skilled engineers for the over 5 lakh job openings in the cyber security field. By doing so, Telangana is not only giving engineering placements a new dimension but also becoming the first state to recognize the values of cybernetics and cyber security.

Combining education and innovation

As ‘IIPM’-ish that line sounds, the government of Telangana did make huge strides in the field of education with IIT-H getting a new campus this year. But we’re not just celebrating the campus, we’re celebrating the Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship that was inaugurated recently in the IIT. The motive of this place is to take innovative ideas for the field of healthcare from the students and test it out until they come up with durable and affordable medical cures for rural India. The first project is already en route and the team is working on making ultra sound more affordable for India’s financially lowest rungs.

A show of unity

The division of the two Telugu-speaking states was anything but a peaceful and cordial affair. Buses were burnt, jobs were lost and many valuable days were wasted owing to bandhs – something the school kids hoped would become a regular feature. However that wasn’t to be, neither was the hatred. Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao recently made a very bold statement by joining his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu during a prayer meeting conducted for one of the various things being constructed in the new capital. Though the scars of the bifurcation came nowhere close disappearing, the meeting did ease of the tension between the people of the two states.

A roof for all

In a dramatic yet much awaited move, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya pulled some strings to help the Telangana government get a central sanction of over Rs 600 crore under the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (urban). This means that over 45,000 houses will be constructed in 19 cities and help the state edge closer to its dream of providing everyone a shelter. Of these, over 29,000 of these houses will be constructed within Hyderabad itself.

A celebration of being

telangana-formations-day

The dust had settled and Telangana had completed one year of existing as a state. A festive atmosphere engulfed the state and the government left no stone unturned to make the occasion special. A week-long celebration was held in the capital with various places being illuminated and cultural activities taking place across the city. This was followed by a colourful parade at the parade grounds where the national flag was unfurled on June 2.

Withstanding an epidemic of sorts

The Septembers of 2015 saw the new state hit by a swine flu epidemic that ended up claiming over 1000 lives in the state. Although 1,000 is no small number, the damage could have been far worse if not for the quick action taken by the authorities. Going all out to put an end to the epidemic, the government tied up with various private hospitals and pushed into force its AAYUSH teams too. The state’s grit was put under the scanner for the first time since its formation and together it pulled up to over come what could have been a very bad situation.

A drink to celebrate it all

In what comes as a good news to party-goers of the city, the Telangana government is on the verge of extending the deadlines of bars from 11 pm to 12 am. Although an hour’s increase means nothing to the normal folk, to the ones who like to have a good time, this is the perfect way to head in to the new year – happy with a drink to celebrate it.

So here it is, cheers Hyderabad and cheers 2016!

Man accidentally shoots himself while singing ‘Goli Maar Bheje Mein’

Goli Maar Bheje Mein

Remember the 1998 film Satya? The one with the song – Goli Maar Bheje Mein?

A 26 year old in Bhopal probably took the lyrics to heart, shooting himself in the head while singing the song. Neighbours reported that they heard him sing the song, followed by a gunshot, when his body was found lying on the floor.

The police are yet to ascertain if it was a case of murder or suicide, and are exploring all the angles. According to this report in the Times of India, the police are not sure if Vinendra Sharma, the resident of district’s Nepali Mohalla, who suffered the traumatic death was drunk. “He went inside his house singing the song and asked wife to for food. Sharma must have placed the weapon on his temple singing the song. He may have pulled the trigger accidently or must have committed suicide. Murder angle cannot be ruled out,” said a police officer”.

Lalu Prasad’s son advices citizens to ride a horse to stop pollution

0
Lalu Prasad's son

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s son Tej Pratap, had landed himself in the hands of trolls once again by riding a horse through the streets of Patna.

Tej Pratap, who is also the Health Minister of Bihar, spoke to the media and said, “There is so much pollution and traffic jams because of so many vehicles… it’s better to ride a horse”.

Indian cities have been grappling with rising pollution, and have been coming up with methods to curb pollution. In the wake of Delhi’s Odd-Even rule, where only vehicles with odd and even numbers will be allowed on the roads alternatively, this takes it to a different level.

Tej Pratap landed in controversy when the Nitish-Lalu combine swept the recent Bihar elections. As he was swearing in, he misspelt the words in his oath, and had to be corrected by the Governor twice.

Yahoo names the cow Personality of the Year

0
Cow Personality of the Year

As part of its yearly aggregates of the year that has gone, Yahoo came up with a list for the Personality of the Year, and the Cow stood at first place.

The humble cow has been in the news this year, thanks primarily to the furore caused over the beef ban, and many calls to ban the slaughter of the animal. Since the cow is considered holy for Hindus, a few states like Maharashtra and have implemented the ban on selling and consuming beef.

In the run up to declaring cow Personality of the Year, the animal pipped Narendra Modi to the top position, even jumping over popular figures like Sunny Leone and Katrina Kaif. The poll, which is based on the number of searches and internet     queries for the topic, seems to have reflected what we have been debating about online through much of 2015.

Here’s actor and comedian Sumeet Raghavan’s funny take on the Beef Ban. Have a look:

Three students from Hyderabad were arrested after they attempted to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State – ISIS.
The three were arrested at Nagpur’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport as they were boarding a flight to Kashmir. According to a report in India Today, the trio were attempting to sneak into Afghanistan, and then set off on the journey.
They had left Hyderabad and travelled to Nagpur by road. Since their families had filed missing reports, a joint initiative by Telangana and Maharashtra police resulted in the three students arrested while they were attempting to board the flight.
This is not the first time that youngsters in India are attempting to join the ISIS. Earlier, a 16 year old girl from Pune had also been brainwashed into joining the ISIS and was attempting to leave to work for ISIS.

These cute kids re-enacting the Christmas story will melt your heart!

Christmas Story

We all are familiar with the Christmas story.

The story of how Jesus Christ was born, and how three wise men reached the stable and informed Mary and Josesh about the child. However, most of the renditions we got were either from elders or teachers. They made sure the story was as bland and boring as well.

St. Paul’s Arts and Media attempted to change all that, by releasing a video of little kids narrating and re-enacting the Christmas story. The entire story is narrated by little kids, and has them acting out the roles. Some of the kids are too small to even walk, and the third Wise Man was found stumbling and fumbling about throughout the video!

Hotstar lists out the Top 5 Cricket moments of 2015

0

Hotstar, the entertainment app that is attempting to revolutionise the way we consume TV shows and films, has listed out the Top 5 cricket moments of 2015.

There are quite a few surprises in the list, especially among the Top 3 cricketing moments.

Here’s the list:

No. 5: The Rise of Bangladesh

BRISTOL, ENGLAND - JULY 10: Shafiul Islam of Bangladesh celebrates taking the final wicket, that of Jonathan Trott of England to win the match during the 2nd One Day International match between England and Bangladesh at the County Ground on July 10, 2010 in Bristol, England. Bangladesh witnessed its best ever year in cricket in 2015, winning a quarterfinal berth in the World Cup, and then winning three consecutive ODI series against Pakistan, India and South Africa. Mustafizur Rahman, the lanky pacer from Bangladesh, ran through the Indian side, and inspired an entire nation to believe in itself. 2015 will go down in history as the year when Bangladesh rose up from minnow status, and were taken seriously by the cricketing world.

No. 4: India fight back in Sri Lanka

India Sri Lanka

India’s tour of Sri Lanka began disastrously, but they bounced back under new captain Virat Kohli, whose aggressive tactics seemed to have paid off. Even though Sri Lanka wanted a grand farewell for Kumara Sangakkara, it wasn’t to be.

No. 3: The Race of the ‘Fastest Century’

AB de villiers fastest century

2015 began with a bang. First, Corey Anderson smashed the record for the fastest century in ODI, finishing it in 36 balls. But in a few days, AB de Villiers, that supreme freak of nature who can do ANYTHING on a cricket ground, broke the record yet again, shocking the West Indian bowlers by cracking a century in 31 balls.

No. 2: England deliver sweet revenge to win the Ashes

England Ashes

Two years ago, a strange creature called Mitchell Johnson prowled on the fast bouncy grounds in Australia, tormenting every single English batsmen who came to the crease. It was a humiliating tour, with Australia winning the tournament 5-0. This time, however, England were a charged side under Alistair Cook, going on to win the series 3-2.

No. 1: A Starc Reminder of Aussie fast bowling

Mitchell Starc Best bowling

With the World Cup finals being played between the co-hosts Australia and New Zealand, majority of the world supported New Zealand to win, simply because they were seen as the underdogs. However, none of that was to hold true, as Mitchell Starc delivered the performance of the year by castling captain and biggest threat – Brendon McCullum in the very first over of the match. The rest, as they say, is statistics!

Here’s the video for you to go through the Top 5 cricket moments of 2015.

Christas Carols

Tata Sky is known to churn out creative ads as part of its marketing campaigns.

However, they might just have made the best ad of the year in the form a video. The video features musicians from Kashmir playing Christmas carols on their traditional Kashmiri instruments like Rabab.

You might have heard lots of Christmas carols, but none as soothing and inspiring as this one. The video ends with a beautiful message, asking the viewers not to lose hope in humanity yet.

Kudos, Tata Sky! This is way better than the ads you made with Aamir Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

Boy rescued miraculously from railway track

It is a well known fact that Indian Railways are unsafe for most people. The platforms, railway tracks and overhead bridges are not enough to accommodate the huge number of people who use the Railways services on a daily basis.

However, this video proves that we are responsible for half the problems, by not adhering to safety norms and regulations. While it is common for elders to jump the tracks to get on to a train, the shocking video has a little boy attempting to run across the tracks and get on to the platform.

The incident is reported to have occurred at Ambernath station,Thane,Mumbai

Let’s hope the video is a lesson for all elders and children not to jump tracks.

The song, which features music by Meet Bros., has Sonakshi Sinha singing and dancing, but sadly, the song is terrible. It sounds just like every other party song by Honey Singh or Badshah. You can’t hear any of Sonakshi Sinha’s voice because it sounds completely auto-tuned.

The single is probably targeting the holiday season with Christmas and New Year coming up. The video has been shot completely in Goa, and yet it fails to impress at any level.

Get ready for WhatsApp Video Call Feature soon

0
whatsapp video call

The internet was abuzz today with reports of messaging app WhatsApp announcing video calling soon.

According to leaks reported by German website Macerkopf, the company might bring out the WhatsApp Video call feature out soon. WhatsApp is the world’s largest messaging app, with a 900 million monthly active users. With other messaging services like Facebook Messenger introducing calling service, and Skype introducing their mobile app version, it was a much needed move by WhatsApp to compete with the rest.

WhatsApp began in Mountain View, California, founded by  Brian Acton and Jan Koum, both former employees of Yahoo! The company was bought over by Facebook for approximately 16 billion US$ in 2014.

WhatsApp has been hugely popular in Asia in the last few years, primarily because of expensive text messaging services. The WhatsApp Video call feature could be a huge hit, and might be WhatsApp biggest game changer in the last few years.

0
Monkey in Bareilly

In a hilarious incident, a monkey in Bareilly took over a bus and drove it for a distance, before it crashed into two other vehicles.

According to this report in The Times of India, the bus was parked, and the driver was sleeping in the last row. This was when the monkey got in, and started the bus. By the time the driver woke up to take control of the bus, the monkey had already rammed the bus into two other vehicles.

Officials from the UPSRTC complained of a nuisance from the monkeys, and how they would cause chaos in the bus stands.

But to have a monkey start a bus by itself and drive it, proves that Planet of the Apes could be happening in real life!!

Daulatpura – The village with only four police cases since Independence!

0
daulatpura

Daulatpura is a small village situated about 500 kilometers from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.

Daulatpura is like any other place, with a small difference. The police literally has no work in this place as there have only been four crimes since 1947.

The residents of Daulatpura attribute it to the economic stability of the place, with many residents having people working abroad.

Of the four cases registered, one was a theft in 1956, assault cases in 1990 and 2007, and one case of rash driving in 2008. The place apparently has a history of sorting out their differences among themselves.

Isn’t it amazing?

Imagine getting a police job in Daulatpura! You can just sit on your chair and earn money!!

Steve Smith declared the Cricketer of the Year

0

The ICC Awards are considered the greatest cricketing awards in the world. Instituted in the year 2004, the ICC Awards recognise contributions to the game and the ten categories of awards recognise contribution for all the formats of the game.

While this year wasn’t great for Indian cricketers, Rahul Dravid (2004) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010) have earlier won the awards for their performances.

Steve Smith was declared the Cricketer of the Year, for his contribution to all the three formats of the game.

These were the best cricketers of the year- the ICC Awards 2015

telegraphhdwallpapershootdunyanews TVcricketoriazeenews indiasportskeeda
Sadly, there was not a single cricketer from India in this year’s list. Last year was a dream run for Kohli, but he saw a dip in form this year.

Do you think Ashwin should have won for his performances in Test matches??

Baha Kilikki – Smitha’s Suprise Tribute To Baahubali Is A Treat

0

Smitha is the only well known pop singer in Telugu.

This Indi-pop singer has been off for quite some time and is now back with a bang – ‘Baha Kilikki – A tribute to Baahubali’ – is what her team has come up with. The lyrics penned by Madhan Karky are in the new language, ‘Kilikili’ that he made up for Baahubali. Well, I cannot tell you the exact meaning of it, but it seems quite catchy. Apart from Smitha, it features Prabhakar (Kaalakeya in Baahubali) and Noel who provided some rap in between. Surprisingly the concept was given by Deva Katta – no wonder it doesn’t bore you. Achu’s tribal sounding beats will get you grooving for sure.

Here check it out! Till now we might have found it tough to get this language, but now I guess it will be easy to sing it with this catchy tune.

‘I Am Karthik’ – You Must Watch This Short Film On Drunken Driving

0
I am karthik

Family and friends are the best social partners anyone can have in their lifetime. One can never compare the amount of value they add to our lives. You might be a son, father, brother, husband, friend – in some way you too mean a lot to your loved ones.

Drunken driving is one issue which can avoided just over a thought. Drunken driving might be fun or time saving or even money saving means, but nothing is more valuable than your life.

RK Nallam and Klapboard Production have come up with a short film called I Am Karthik. The short film by J SivSai Vardhan is cute, sweet and straight to the point. The importance of being a father and his presence in the little family is shown in a touching way.

Don’t just check out this video, let’s give it a serious shot to follow. For, you and I care for our loved ones and we want to spend more time with our loved ones. Remember, it’s just a thought away!

Priyanka Chopra kicks ass in the new Jai Gangaajal trailer

0
Jai Gangaajal trailer

If the trailer of Jai Gangajal trailer is anything to go by, Priyanka Chopra might deliver her most resounding performance yet.

The film, which is not related to the Ajay Devgn starrer Gangaajal, takes on a completely new story and plot point. Prakash Jha, who has directed both the films, also makes his acting debut in the film. The earlier Gangaajal film was a moderate success, but couldn’t compete with the bigger films that released around the time.

Priyanka Chopra plays SP Abha Mathur, a no-nonsense cop who decides to take on the local mafia and politicians, and decides to do things her own way.

However, with Priyanka Chopra grabbing eyeballs with her role in American TV series Quantico, the new Jai Gangaajal trailer promises yet another awesome film in her filmography. Chopra has been having a great time at the box office, with her performances in the last three films Bajirao Mastani, Dil Dhadakne Do, and Mary Kom, winner her critical acclaim.

Here’s the awesome trailer of the film. Enjoy!

Bollywood Celebrities who need to hit the Gym ASAP !

0
Ram Kapoor before after

By Aakash Parida

Bollywood! This word encompasses varied emotions, aspirations, ways of expressions and numerous celebrities fighting it out to remain beloved to their prized audience . Believe it or not the current audience psyche wants the celluloid artists to look fit and fashionable to be idolised , bygone are those days when actors and actresses were known for memorable performances which is now reduced to a cult following .

Few celebrities have chiselled  their look over the years but there are few celebrities who are unapologetically fat , although being fat is a matter of personal choice and not be made fun of , but let us look at few celebrities who can use some motivation to hit the gym , because they badly need it !

  1. RAM KAPOOR
Ram Kapoor before after

Ram Kapoor was admired by many housewives who never let their husband watch men run towards a goal or hit a ball for six, because of his affable roles on the silver screen, later he was seen in leading Bollywood production flicks which is equally great for his career but Mr. Ram, watching you romance Sunny Leone with the fat belly you sport is beyond hilarious , You need to shed a few kilos !

  1. DELNAAZ IRANI
Delnaaz Irani

She has done some perky roles with leading Bollywood actor & actresses , but she is usually type casted as a spirited and adorable friend because of her size and if she doesn’t hit the gym soon I guess she will end up being part of a Parsi joke not related to their Surname . If you know what I mean !

  1. GANESH ACHARYA
Ganesh Acharya

The most hysterical news I heard this year was when I found out that Ganesh Acharya has gained around 30 to 40 kg for his forthcoming film ” Hey Bro “. Hey bro! I know you are a successful choreographer and might be a visionary, but don’t you think you should find roles where you get to lose weight instead of gaining 40 kilos ?

  1. HUMA QURESHI
Huma Qureshi

She is graceful , there is no doubt to it but why is she persistent on staying fat ? Maybe she wants to make a serious statement on , how acting skills propel a wonderful career rather than how you look .  Nevertheless , Huma as a fellow huma-n , forgive me for saying this , but you need to hit the gym . Just don’t slack off the next time you make a resolution to get fit !

5. R MADHAVAN

Madhavan

Maddy we love you, but your recent avatar in Tanu weds Manu 2, isn’t very appealing. Look at Rancho, he works out. Your buddy Raju is in good shape too, then why do you abstain from a good workout ? Are you listening yet ?

  1. TANUSHREE DUTTA

The Femina miss India 2004 . Oh my gosh! what has gotten into her ? Once a fitness fanatic, I never thought she will adorn herself into a chubby avatar .

7. MAHIMA CHAUDHARY

Mahima Chaudhary

This is a real blast from the past , although her career has come to a halt long time back but look at her in her recent photos , she needs a massive makeover , not because of her falling popularity ( I doubt most of the young peeps know her name let alone her films ) but as a last resort to make a comeback .

Iranians create Wall of Kindness

0
Wall of kindness

Iran is going through troubled times – a harsh winter, and economic turbulences seem to have affected the homeless – leading to Iranians creating many such ‘wall of kindness’.

The concept of the walls of kindness is very simple. Those who can afford to, leave extra clothes on their walls, with a message to homeless and needy people to collect and use them if they need to. The message painted on the walls reads – ‘If you don’t need it, leave it. If you need it, take it’.

While the first such campaign ran in the city of Mashad, the campaign has gone viral, as many more cities have adopted the noble act of kindness.

The campaign has gone viral, and many more people in urban areas have become a part of this brilliant, humane movement. Here are some snapshots from Twitter to throw light upon the Wall of Kindness.

No. 8: Kajal Aggarwal

With three releases in 2015, Kajal Agarwal managed to stay in the list of most searched celebrities for the year 2015. One of the most important reasons for Kajal Agarwal making the list is her popularity among both north and south Indians. No. 7: Yo Yo Honey Singh

Honey Singh

Hirdesh Singh, the 32 year old singer who has taken the nation by storm as Honey Singh, features on No.7 on the list of most searched celebrities in India. While Honey Singh had three film songs releasing this year, it was his private single Dheere Dheere, starring Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor that brought him back into the news. There were also rumours about Honey Singh being admitted into a rehab programme for his drugs habit, but it was dismissed as mere rumours.

No. 6: Shah Rukh Khan:

SRK

With one release in 2015 – Dilwale – Shah Rukh Khan got much needed eyeballs for his film that featured him and Kajol together. However, apart from the film release, he also released trailers for his 2016 films – Raees and Fan. He was also in the news for his statements on intolerance, which were distorted and caused a furore in the country.

No. 5: Deepika Padukone:

Deepika Padukone

If there is one actress who remained in the news through the year, it was her. First, it was her My Choice video, which brought feminists and chauvinists at loggerheads on social media. This was followed by three releases – Piku, Tamasha, and Bajirao Mastani. Deepika Padukone won rave reviews for her roles in all the three films, and also voiced her opinion on issues like journalistic ethics and depression. It is hardly a surprise that she is among the Top 5 celebrities of the year.

No. 4: Katrina Kaif:

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif had only one release this year – the poorly received Phantom. However, she remained in the news thanks to her product endorsements, and gossip mills running overdrive about her status with Ranbir Kapoor. Katrina Kaif has three important films coming up in 2016, and she might remain in the Top 10 list for the coming few years too!

No. 3: APJ Abdul Kalam:

Abdul Kalam

One celebrity who is respected across ages, regions and demographies, APJ Abdul Kalam left this world this year, which led to huge tributes on the internet. Abdul Kalam was a favourite among students and children in the country, and it is only fitting that he left his body while doing what he loved the most, addressing students and inspiring them.

No. 2: Salman Khan:

Sunny Leone is also the brand ambassador for a number of products, and remains the most searched celebrity in India.

Brendon McCullum to retire from International Cricket in February 2016

0
Brendon McCullum Retirement

Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain, and undoubtedly the most popular New Zealand cricketer in the world, announced his retirement from international cricket in the coming February 2016.

McCullum has been an icon in modern day cricket, known mainly due to his attacking style of cricket, and his fielding skills. McCullum is also the highest run scorer in international T20s, and the first cricketer to reach the milestone of 2000 runs.

McCullum is also one of the world’s most popular professional cricketers, with successful cricket careers in franchises around the world – be it Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, or the Warwickshire team in English County, or  Otago Volts in the New Zealand domestic structure.

McCullum was also the wicketkeeper for his team till the year 2013, making him the most important member of the New Zealand cricket team for almost a decade. Brendon’s brother Nathan is also a cricketer, and announced his retirement in early 2015.

The cricket world will definitely be poorer without Brendon McCullum, but die hard fans of the star will at least get to watch him in domestic and professional tournaments.

Did Mohd. Azharuddin get married for a third time?

0
Azharuddin Shannon Marie

Speculations are rife that former Indian captain Mohd. Azharuddin might have been married for a third time, after a report in the Maharashtra Times suggested that he had introduced his long-term friend Shannon Marie as his wife.

Mohd. Azharuddin has been married twice earlier – to Naureen, and model Sangeeta Bijlani. He has two sons from his first marriage, and also got divorced from Sangeetha Bijlani in 2010. Azhar was spotted with Shannon in Paris in 2013, but they had denied reports of an affair, claiming to be ‘just friends’.

Azharuddin however, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them false and asking newspapers to check their facts.

However, with a number of national and international publications reporting about the issue, the final word isn’t out yet.

Azhar’s life is also set to be made into a biopic produced by Ekta Kapoor. The film, titled ‘Azhar’, has Emraan Hashmi playing the former Indian cricketer. Here’s the trailer of the film:

Man gets operated to have permanent abs, and it looks weird!

0
Permanent 6 pack abs

Lee Coupland, a man from Leeds, England travelled far and wide and paid 3,500 pounds (INR 3,45,600) to get himself operated and get permanent abs. The first step of the process is to have all the fat sucked out of the body, which is followed by the surgical process.

Lee travelled from Leeds, all the way to Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, to go under the knife. The surgical process is called ‘Abdominal etching’, a process by which a surgery can give you permanent abs.

Early pictures of the surgery showed a scar on Lee’s belly, and while it is early days to comment, the effect sure looks weird. Lee, however, is optimistic about the trend of men getting themselves surgically enhanced. He said, ‘’ “I think more and more people will think it’s an option for them and it will become as common as boob jobs and nose jobs for women.”

Most Searched Companies in India – 2015

0
Most searched companies in India

As the year 2015 comes to an end, it is time when Google comes up with its list of the ‘Most Searched’.

Ever since Modi has come to power, there have been lots of discussions on businesses, FDI, and industrialization. Perhaps that reflects in the way Indians searched on Google too.

Here’s the list of Google’s Most Searched Companies in India in the year 2015.

NO. 10: Paytm:

Paytm LogoPaytm began in 2010 as a company offering mobile and DTH recharge. But the company’s services were so effective that the company quickly diversified into other services such as bus travel, electricity bills, gas bills, and telephone bills. The response got much better over the years, and today, Paytm ranks among India’s largest e-retailers. Such has been Paytm’s success, that they were the sponsor for the recent India-South Africa Cricket series!

9. WhatsApp:

WhatsApp logoFounded in 2009 by Brian Acton and Jan Koum, who met while they were working at Yahoo!, WhatsApp is easily the world’s most popular messaging application with over 900 million subscribers. What has kept WhatsApp going, is its simplicity, efficiency, and the ability to share any sort of media. WhatsApp today has become an essential part of your smartphone, and most mobile network companies attract potential customers by providing offers on WhatsApp. The company was bought by Facebook for about US$ 16 billion, and since the company only has 55 employees, someone got very drunk that night!!

8. Cricbuzz:

CricbuzzCreated by Piyush Agrawal, Cricbuzz is a website devoted completely to cricket. In a nation that is completely crazy about cricket, Cricbuzz identified a huge space and capitalized on the opportunity, just when the smartphone boom happened in India. In a short span of time, Cricbuzz has become the most popular mobile app for cricket news and scores in India. If you’re stuck in work during an exciting match, Cricbuzz is the place you should go to!

7. HDFC Bank:

HDFC BankThe fifth largest bank in India in terms of assets, HDFC Bank has in a short time, acquired the reputation for being an efficient and timely bank. While most people remember ICICI Bank being the first private bank that advertised itself on its punctuality and efficiency, HDFC Bank has, in a few years, captured the imagination of the younger and corporate sector in India. For all you know, your company probably gave you a Salary Account with HDFC Bank too!

6. Indian Railways:

Indian RailwaysNeeding no introduction whatsoever, the Indian Railways is one of the largest train networks in the world, with 115,000 km of track across the breadth and width of the country. Even though there have been lots of talk about the privatization of the Railways, the government remains firm in its resolution to retain control over the giant organization, and improve its infrastructure. The fact that it still remains in the Top 10 searched companies in India, proves its relevance in today’s times too.

5. Snapdeal:

Snapdeal-logoStarted by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal, Snapdeal began in the year 2010, and quickly rose in the ranks to become one of India’s top three online retailers. Funded by some of the world’s largest companies like Intel and SoftBank Corp., Snapdeal seems to be surging ahead in full speed, and it is little surprise that it ranks among the top five searched companies in India.

4. Amazon:

AmazonFounded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, who quit his job at D.E. Shaw & Co, Amazon began as an online retailer of books. Within a decade, Amazon had metamorphosised into a gigantic multinational conglomerate that dealt with electronics, software, video games, and appliances.

Amazon launched in India in the year 2013, Amazon quickly rose up the ranks and is probably the biggest competitor to beat in the Indian e-commerce sector.

3. State Bank of India:

SBIFounded in 1921 (as the Imperial Bank of India), State Bank of India is by far the largest banking and financial services company in India. With 13,000 branches, which include 190 foreign offices, State Bank of India has an enviable footprint in the country.

However, if you’re used to the services of private banks like ICICI and HDFC, the State Bank of India might seem like a journey through a Time Machine.

2. IRCTC:

IRCTC LogoLike it or hate it, you cannot ignore IRCTC. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is a website that you HAVE to visit, if you wish to travel by train. Even though the UI of the website has improved remarkably over the years, you cannot deny that the website still feels laggy, especially if you compare it with the winner of the list…

1. Flipkart:

FlipkartIt is perhaps right that a home-grown company has to rank at the No.1 position. Flipkart has been in the news all through the year, whether it is the Big Billion Sales, or its decision to go ‘App Only’. The e-commerce company that was launched in 2007 by Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal has been a pioneer in the Indian e-commerce scene, and rightly deserves the first place.

Did you favourite company feature in the list? Which company do YOU search for most often? Let us know in the comments section below!

Historically, Lux has been synonymous with great ads, and glamorous women endorsing the soap across the world. India is no stranger to the phenomenon of Lux, and has had its biggest stars endorsing the luxury soap since the 1950s.

Here is a walk down memory lane, as we look at some of the iconic Indian women who endorsed the soap in these vintage Lux ads over the years.

Top 10 KLPD Films of 2015

0
Shaandaar

Cinema and Cricket are two topics that Indians can’t have enough of. We follow our stars, watch their films, and build expectations and hopes on their films.

However, every year, there are a few films that are utterly disappointing. So disappointing in fact, that we have no option but to call them what they actually are – KLPD.

Here is our list of the biggest KLPD films of 2015. These are films that a lot of people placed their hopes on, and yet had to taste a bitter medicine.

1. Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo:Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo

Touted as a comeback film for writer and director Sooraj Barjatya, this film was supposed to set the screens on fire. However, in spite of doing good business, the film offered nothing new or exciting to the viewer. Salman Khan seemed like Sonam Kapoor’s father, and the viewers couldn’t imagine any sort of chemistry between the leads. Overall, the film was a gigantic disappointment and the critics didn’t take too kindly to the film.

2. Bomby Velvet:

Bombay VelvetWith 2014’s Ugly, Anurag Kashyap proved that he still had it in him to stun Indian audiences. One of the boldest, grittiest films to ever come out in Indian screens, Ugly was a stunning piece of cinema. However, with his next film – Bombay Velvet – which was called his magnum opus, Kashyap seemed to have lost the plot completely. Opulent sets, booming background scores, and earnest performances notwithstanding, Bombay Velvet looked so amateurish that it made people question if it was really made by Anurag Kashyap, and not his brother Abhinav Kashyap.

3. Roy:

RoyStarring Ranbir Kapoor, easily the biggest star among the younger lot of actors in Hindi cinema, Roy was expected to set records on fire, as the trailers hinted at a smart film. However, the film opened to empty halls as critics panned the film. It was an even bigger KLPD when fans of Ranbir Kapoor found out that he didn’t have the largest role in the film, which went to the wooden Arjun Rampal. In spite of superhit songs, Roy left a bad taste in the mouth of viewers.

4. Hate Story 3:

Hate Story 3Honestly, one didn’t expect too much from Hate Story 3, given its past. However, with bigger stars in the form of Zarine Khan, Karan Singh Grover, and Sharman Joshi, audiences walked in believing they were going to witness something new. Apart from slow-motion songs that might appeal to teenagers without a WiFi connection. There was absolutely nothing in the film, and I doubt there’s going to be a Hate Story 4.

5. Dilwale:

DilwaleNow, this is going to piss off a lot of SRK fans, but honestly, the film is not something even he is going to be proud of for long. Written by Rohit Shetty, who seems to care about critics as much as he cares about Tata Sumos, the film advertised itself as a comeback launch for Kajol and SRK, but there wasn’t much in the film by way of nostalgia, fun, or even intelligent writing. The film has been panned by critics universally, but continues to do well at the Box Office.

6. Shaandaar:

ShaandaarAnother Anurag Kashyap production that had a lot of hopes riding on it, Shaandaar was an LSD filled disappointment for fans of both Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. With an ensemble cast and a feel-good, bubble-gummy look, it was expected to appeal to kids and youngsters. But Shaandaar appealed to the chairs of the empty theaters only, resulting in yet another disappointment for Phantom Films, which had a reasonably successful year in 2014. Even the music by Amit Trivedi, which is generally reliable, seemed to pale into comparison with his earlier work.

7. Jazbaa:

JazbaaThis film was touted as Aishwarya Rai’s ‘comeback’ film, even though she had four releases in 2010. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, India’s most stylist copycat filmmaker, Jazbaa also starred the dependable Irrfan Khan. However, the green tinted hues, the screeching background score, and the complete overacting by the lead pair resulted in the film being washed away, leaving no impact on the minds of the viewers, or the chairs in the empty halls.

8. Dolly ki Doli:

Dolly ki DoliDirected by a newcomer (Abhishek Dogra) and starring Sonam Kapoor along with Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma, nobody knows when this film came and when it went. Which is sad because the film actually got decent reviews from critics, and surprisingly, they had said good things about Sonam Kapoor’s acting!! However, one assumes it looked too similar to Sonam’s earlier releases, or the lack of a male star – that caused the film to sink.

9. Calendar Girls:

Calendar GirlsMadhur Bhandarkar must be only filmmaker to win so many National Awards in spite of being utterly mediocre. The multiple award winning director came up his new film – and this time he has chosen to oust the hidden secrets in the world of modeling. Every few years, Madhur Bhandarkar comes up with a new concept where he decides to reveal the dark underbelly of a particular industry – Fashion, Heroine, Corporate, Page 3. Thankfully, the Indian audience seems to have had enough of his trash, and they dumped Calendar Girls unceremoniously.

10. MSG The Messenger:

MSG Messenger 2We thought a lot about whether this film should make it to this list. Honestly, if you expected good things from MSG The Messenger, you HAVE to have an IQ of a garden lizard. The film is so bad that it is good, with hilarious graphics, terrible acting, and a story that crawls about like a drunken snake who’s had twenty tequila shots.

*

So there you go. That was our list of the biggest KLPD films of 2015.

Do you think we missed any film? Or included a film in the list unfairly? Let us know in the Comments section below, and we’ll add/subtract from our list accordingly!

Host Screws up Miss Universe 2015 finals – wrong contestant crowned!

0
miss universe 2015

The finals of the Miss Universe 2015 competition witnessed bizarre sights as the wrong candidate’s name was announced. Hardly had Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez worn the crown for about 90 seconds, when the error was pointed out, and the crown was handed over to Miss Phillipines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

It was a sight both hilarious as well as sad, as host Steve Harvey interrupted the celebrations by saying, “I have to apologise. The first runner up is Colombia. Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines”. Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez had to silently hand over her crown to Miss Phillipines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

The Miss Universe franchise is not new to controversy, as Donald Trump had bought off all the stocks of the company, only to sell them three days later. The Miss Universe competition is organized by the Miss Universe Organisation based out of New York.

10 Telugu Movies Of 2015 That Were Hyped But Bombed

0
Ravi teja,kick 2

It’s simple, there good movies and there are bad movies. Bad movies are of two types. Those movies which no gives a damn, they just pass by like any Tuesday. And the other, those which come with high expectations and fail to impress the audience in every way. They don’t take much time to fade away from the cinemas. That is when you say a movie has ‘bombed’. Every year has its own share of movies that will BOMB. Likewise this year too has a few movies that bombed which actually had high expectations.

Watch Shah Rukh Khan play himself in this hilarious Gerua parody

0
Dilwale Gerua parody

Shah Rukh Khan is known to have a terrific sense of humour, and he has taken things up notch higher by appearing as himself in a hilarious Gerua parody.

Written and directed by Salil Jamdar of Shudh Desi Gaane, the song features Salil and Shah Rukh Khan as they poke fun at his movies, songs, and style of acting. Shudh Desi Gaane had last month released a parody version of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and titled it Prem Uncle Phir Aayo. However, the video had to be taken off YouTube for unknown reasons. However, it was was alive and thriving on Facebook, where it was shared thousands of times.

Shudh Desi Gaane is a YouTube channel that aims to parody popular Bollywood songs, and some of his earlier songs include hilarious parodies of Main Hoon Hero Tera and Taare Zameen Par.

In the video, Shah Rukh Khan can be seen in his trademark dance moves and expressions, as he urges the viewers to go watch the original, instead of resorting to parodies like the song. While this might be a very smart PR move by Shah Rukh Khan, you can’t deny the fact that it’s a terrible movie!

Vijender Singh wins third consecutive Pro-Wrestling match

0
Vijender boxing,Pro-Wrestling

India’s Vijender Singh, who became the first Indian to compete in Pro-Wrestling seems to be on a winning streak, as he carved up his third consecutive victory, by knocking out Bulgarian opponent Samet Hyuseinov.

The match was played in Manchester Arena, UK on Saturday, 19 December. Vijender Singh, who quit his amateur career to turn into a pro-wrestler in June this year, has been on a winning streak ever since he made his pro-wrestling debut.

Vijender Singh disappointed a lot of fans by opting for a career in pro-wrestling, because it means he won’t be able to represent India anymore in international sporting events. His move to join pro-wrestling automatically ruled him out of India’s 2016 Olympic campaign.

Prior to the match, Vijender’s opponent Samet Hyuseinov involved in some trash-talk, going by his ranking in the circuit. “I don’t think Vijender is ready to fight someone like me yet and he is saying what he will do to me as if I don’t exist and he will stop me. I’m the most dangerous opponent to date for him,” Hyuseinov said. “Believe me I am going to cause a big upset (for Vijender fans), I’m sorry India but your man is going to lose.”

With this victory, Vijender Singh is now set to march on to victory for his fourth consecutive victory. If he does manage to win his fourth consecutive match, he’s sure to make the fraternity sit up and take notice of his talent.

The Greatest Indipop Hits of the 90s

0
Indipop 90s

1. Made in India – Alisha Chinai: This song by Alisha Chinai symbolized the 90s like no other video. It was also the first time the nation got to see Milind Soman, a personality that the nation is still obsessed with after 20 years. Made in India was the first big hit among the Indipop generation of private albums.

2. O Sanam – Lucky Ali: Lucky Ali is the son of the famous actor-director Mahmood, and has even acted in a few films. However, it was when his songs sprang out on our TV screens that the nation realized the talent of this singer-composer. Apart from the soothing songs, Lucky Ali’s videos were also beautifully shot, and look fresh to this day. Check it out for yourself!

3. Kaanta Laga – DJ Doll: Though it wasn’t technically in the 90s, no list on Indipop is complete without the mention of Kaanta Laga, the song that scandalized parents and got their kids to fantasise. It was the first song that pushed the boundaries for what’s considered ‘risky’ in India. The video looks pretty tacky today, but trust me, you had to reduce the volume if it came on the TV back then.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSLtptXuybQ

4. Aakhon mein tera hi chehra – Aryans: This was the first time Shahid Kapoor appeared on the scree, and it was perfectly timed with the rise of Aryans as an Indipop band. The band mostly sang melodic love songs, and the video which starred Shahid Kapoor and Hrishita Bhatt is now considered a cult hit among the Indipop songs.

5. Pehla Nasha Remix: Pehla Nasha is an iconic song of the late 80s, and it was only expected that it would be remixed. However, instead of merely rearranging the rhythm as most remixed versions of songs did back then, this song managed to maintain the class of the original song, along with the visuals for nostalgic reasons. This song launched a million high-school romances during lunch breaks and recess!

6. Ab Ke Saawan Aise Barse: Before this song, Shubha Mudgal was a respected singer in the classical music scene (she still is!). But it was this song that repackaged Mudgal as a rockstar, as she crooned this catchy number which was written by lyricist and ad-man Prasoon Joshi. Listening to this song still makes you want to run into the rain!

7. Gur Naal Ishq Mitha: You might not have heard of Bally Sagoo if you’re a millennial kid, but back in the day, nobody ruled the Indipop Bhangra scene like Bally Sagoo. A British-Indian music producer who is based out of the UK, Bally Sagoo stormed into the Indian imagination with this song that was used in weddings, birthday parties, and bachelor parties of those days.

8. Dooba Dooba Rehta Hoon: Before Mohit Chauhan became the award-winning singer that he is today, he was the front-man of the band Silk Route. Their songs were a huge hit among the youngsters of the time, as they sang about love, heartbreak and life – subjects that teenagers consider themselves eminent authorities! The video was also interesting, and you couldn’t take your eyes off the screen when it came on.

9. Sayonee – Junoon: While it is common for Paksitani pop singers to sing for Indian films today, back in the day only qawwali and ghazal singers found fame and fortune in India. The first rock band from Pakistan that made it big in India was the rock band Junoon. Their song Sayonee, a painful song about lost love, was an instant hit on audio cassettes and music channels.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttPG5O7JsjA

10. Daler Mehndi – Tunak Tunak Tunak: Daler Mehndi had a maximum of three dance steps, but if ever there was a man who maximized his minimal dancing prowess, it was this man. In the 90s, Daler Mehndi was the largest selling artist, churning out albums and performing in a huge number of live shows. While he mostly sings for films these days, Daler Mehndi was the cream of the lot in the 90s.

11. Tum Toh Thehre Pardesi – Altaf Raja: If Aryans and Silk Route had captured the imagination of the Romantics, Altaf Raja had complete control over the huge target market of the depressed. His songs that spoke of love, pain, and betrayal were a favourite at weddings, even though one wonders why you’d want to listen to an Altaf Raja song about dhokha and beimaani on the day of your marriage!

Nirbhaya Rapist Walks Free due to India’s Juvenile Laws

Nirbhaya juvenile accused

The juvenile who has been charged for taking part in the gruesome Nirbhaya gangrape case, has been released. He was released on Sunday and is under supervision at an NGO.

The Supreme Court squashed an appeal by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) against the release of the juvenile, whose name is still not known to the world.

Stating the country’s juvenile laws as the reason, the Supreme Court informed the DCW that its hands were tied. “We share your concern but our hands are tied by the existing law. There has to be clear legislative sanction to extend the detention period beyond 3 years. Under the present law, detention cannot be extended beyond three years,” the top court said.

The Nirbhaya Gangrape, which occurred in December 2012, shook the entire nation. It made the country wake up to the menace of rapes and assaults against women. The decision by the Supreme Court has sparked an outrage all over the country, as it has been established that the juvenile was the most violent among all the rapists.

Actress Nargis Fakhri caused outrage in Pakistan, as a full page ad for a mobile phone company sparked calls of ‘obscenity’ among Pakistan’s Twitterati.

The front page ad, which has Nargis Fakhri sprawled among mobile phones, was deemed as too obscene, and there were calls for the company to remove the ad.

https://twitter.com/AnsarAAbbasi/status/678403485319172096/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

However, not everybody bought into the argument. A few Pakistani netizens were of the opinion that it was a non-issue. Clearly, Pakistan has other issues at hand, than a picture of an actress with mobile phones.

One Pakistni netizen Kadar replied to the comment by saying: @AnsarAAbbasi Front page ad looks absurd but corruption, loot and plunder of the government is acceptable. This proves that there are idiots on both sides of the border.

However, the marketing team that came up with the idea for the full page ad must be smiling – mission accomplished!

Beethoven Honoured by Google with the Most Intricate Musical Doodle Ever!

0
beethoven

Today marks the day of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s baptism and boy did Google go all crazy with their doodlers to honour this day.

beethoven

“It’s unclear when Beethoven was actually born, but December 17th marks the 245th anniversary of his baptism. Today provided us a rare opportunity to construct a game in step with beautiful music, whose evocative moods, drama, lightness, and depth made conjuring visuals to match it rollickingly fun. Here’s to one of history’s greatest artists, and to hoping that, wherever you happen to be travelling this holiday, your life’s work isn’t eaten by a horse,” Google mentioned on their blog.

beethoven

In general a Google doodle consists of series of images or an animation which lasts for 10 seconds or less. This one is pretty different; you need to solve the musical puzzles in the doodle in order to reach the end. Beethoven’s most famous compositions like the fifth symphony, Moonlight Sonata, Ninth Symphony and Fur Elise are used in the Doodle.

You move on to the next stage only when you can arrange the musical notes in the right order.

8 Worst TV Shows That India Ever Had

0
Kumkum Bhagya,indianTV shows

By Samyuktha R

Some of the TV shows that India has ever encountered may have left an indelible mark with the viewers yearning for more. A few others, in stark contrast just manage to draw a squirm or be mere outlet of frustration. Be it soap operas, or melodramas or even the high adrenaline game shows, some of them really questioned their existence. Here are a handful of such worst Indian T.V shows that made a rather too preposterous launch only to hit the ground hard.

  1. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi

The name resonates immediately with every house-hold. The basic premise of the soap is the trauma that a mother-in-law encounters when she has to deal with the difficulty of dealing with the daughters-in-law. The tale further prolongs to the extent of the daughters-in-law also dealing with the relationships of their son. The protracted serial just did not manage to ring a bell with a few.Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu thi

2.Sasural Simar Ka

Sasural Simar Ka is yet another soap-opera that falls under the distinctive ‘mother-in-law, daughter-in-law’ genre. To add a ‘distinctive flavor’, the serial features two sisters, who marry two brothers from a same household. The rest of the plot features how the two sisters adapt to the new household, and handle all the family matter. However plain the plot may sound, the show does really not provide any other bait to give it a constant watch

3.CID

Crime-investigation is a lesser explored path among the numerous serial. However, CID came in at the right time to break the monotony. Though the three protagonists featured in the show do deliver a watchable performance, what really causes annoyance is the fact that the show has been protracted for a period of eighteen years. This has really caused the audience to reach the saturation point.

4.Aap Beeti

This is one from the horror genre. It recounts the tale of spirits, who comes back to seek the vengeance. No matter how the serial managed to brand itself as a horror show, it just did not be all the very scary. It simply showed women in white-attire yearning to seek revenge.

Aap Beeti Hai

5.Splitsvilla

We may have definitely seen that “love” based T.V shows are a huge hit. However, Splitsvilla just did not manage to trigger the requisite amount of fandom. The basic premise of getting ‘dumped’ to becoming the king and queen with dumping powers caused the audience to reach a point of saturation. The cat-fights, the innate urge to take revenge and subtle and cold back-stabbing among the contestants just did not teach the audience a larger lesson. This ship just sunk without a trace.

Splitsvilla7

6.Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

This show chronicles the life of two well-to-do families. They pull out the most trivial issues to make a big deal out of it. Though, it does not sound very drab, once the same thing is shown on a repetitive basis, it begins to annoy a lot.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

7.Jodha Akbar

Though the name immediately reeks of historic events, the serial is far from that. It gives a twist with a sinister spirit torturing Jodha to get to Akbar. There are a few scenes involving the typical snake with immense poison. The title which seemed deceptive, did trigger initial enthusiasm to watch the show, but the enthusiasm slowly ebbed away.

Jodha Akbar

8.Kumkum Bhagya

This is a completely wild story with numerous characters. A character falls for another, who in-turn falls for another. This is the basic premise of this show which is nothing but the variants of all the aforementioned twists.

12 Facts About French Revolution You Didn’t Know.

French Revolution,THE REIGN OF TERRROR CONSPIRACY

By Shreya Oruganti

Be it the gourmet food, the capital of romance, the beautiful French artists, the literary works or the fine wines, the French have managed to make us fall in love with everything they do. But we should probably go back to the Eighteenth century just to realise how the French made it to who they are today. The “French Revolution” also known as the “July Revolution”, was one of the major changes that the French had gone through. Commencing from 1780 until the late 1790’s it made a considerable impact throughout the world, bringing the spotlight to equality and freedom. This was later interpreted differently by diverse countries, however marking its sturdy incidence in the history.

Here are 12 facts about the French Revolution you wouldn’t really be familiar with.

THE FAILED ESCAPE

On the night of June 20, 1791 King Louis XVI, along with his queen Marie Antoinette and their two children, set out to escape from their palace in Versailles in order to shun the existing responsibilities that he was no longer capable of handling. However his escape went terribly off the hook when he was recognised. The irony being that, the stimulus that led him to be recognised was none other than his face that was inscribed in the currency.  He was soon arrested and brought back only to be executed later.

French Revolution,THE FAILED ESCAPE

THE BASTILLE MISCONCEPTION

People who stormed down the Bastille wanted to free the prisoners, however it is also an unfortunately lesser known fact that most of them just wanted to get their hands on the weapons and gunpowder that had been stored there. The prisoners on the other hand were actually forgotten to be freed.

French Revolution,THE BASTILLE MISCONCEPTION

THE VOTE OF MAJORITY

King Louis was executed only because there was a slight increase the number of voters who agreed for him to be executed. With a difference of 73 votes, King Louis lost his life to the choice of the 361 people. Basically, the 288 votes that wanted him alive didn’t really matter.

MARIE ANTOINETTES LAST DEAL OF BRIBERY

It is said that Marie Antoinette paid her executioner with an entire purse of gold for a sharper Guillotine to ensure a quicker and less painful death a blunt one would cause.

COST OF BREAD HIGHER THAN A WEEKS WAGE

When the grain crops failed in 1788 and 1789, the price of bread shot up to 88 % of their wages. The cost of bread ended up being higher than a week’s wage of an individual. The ruling class was blamed at large for the economic distress.

THE REIGN OF TERRROR CONSPIRACY

During the Reign of Terror (1793–1794), about 40,000 people were executed or murdered. It is believed that the entire upheaval of the revolution might have even been a malicious pre Marxist de population program. This mass genocide was believed to be setup in order to reduce the population of France into half.

NAPOLEAN AND THE SPHINX

It is said that while Napoleon and his troops were in Egypt between 1798 and 1801, he had his men test their cannon skills by shooting at the Sphinx; this is, considered to be the reason the Monolith now has no nose.

French Revolution,NAPOLEAN AND THE SPHINX

SANS CULOTTES

The French revolutionaries were called “sans culottes” which meant without clothes. In order to be distinguished from the French nobilities who wore culottes’ i.e. silk knee breeches, the revolutionaries were referred to as “sans culottes”.

KING LOUIS AND THE RUMOURS

One extreme is the rumour that King Louis took only three baths in his life. People in the 17th-century Europe were told that bathing opened the body’s pores to disease. Bathing was considered to be a terrible health hazard. Instead, people doused themselves with perfume to mask the inevitable stench. However, the king had an entire apartment turned into bathrooms and was rubbed instead with spirits or alcohol to disinfect his skin.

THE QUEEN DID TURN HEADS AND MORE

Marie Antoinette was considered such a woman of fashion, that once when she was at the opera, eight women were injured pushing others out of the way, just to see what she was wearing, causing three of them having their feet crushed, two having  ribs broken and three dislocating their arms.

BASTILLE WAS TORN DOWN

It is said and believed that the angry mob stormed the Bastille Fort and tore it down brick by brick because they didn’t have powerful explosives.

FIRST PUBLIC ZOO

During the French revolution, the national assembly passed a decision that exotic animals held privately where either to be donated to the menagerie at Versailles, or killed, stuffed, and donated to scientists at the Jardin des Plantes. Fortunately for the animals, instead of being killed, were relocated to the world’s first public zoo. Thanks to French revolution.

These rituals followed by transgenders are just so baffling !!

Source Deccan Chronicle

Though customs may differ around the world, almost every society shares one thing – the concept of gender. Yet some societies recognize more than 2 genders. Taboo takes you to India, where hijras – or transgenders – marry their god in a festive ritual. Then travel to an Indonesian village that recognizes five genders and worships hermaphrodite priests. Finally, head to rural Albania, where female “sworn virgins” take an oath to live and act as men in a practice that is more than 500 years old.

A director is the captain of the ship. A much heard and an old saying on the film making front. But, the fact remains true that he is the magnet holding everything together and has to see to it that the project does come out as expected. While in many making videos we see most of our directors enacting the scenes, we rarely get to see them enacting something. It could be in the hour of need or for fun, some directors did try appearing on the screen in a cameo role and they did pull it off.

Here are our Directors who not only acted but also appeared in front of the camera.

8 Amazing Characters That Stood-Out In 2015

0

The year 2015 has definitely been a landmark year for Telugu cinema. It went more international than ever. We definitely got rid of the ‘100 days pucca’ phenomenon of every random movie that came in the way. Movies were watched and received well, even though they didn’t survive the 50 days or 100 days mark. Movies that made big were noticed, even if it was for a span of 3-4 weeks. It was a welcoming change for Telugu cinema and 2015 will definitely be remembered as one of the first year to do so.

When you look back into the year’s timeline, there have been some path-breaking movies and some awesome characters that came their way. This happens with every year. Similarly this year had its own bunch of awesome characters that have made their mark in Telugu cinema. Let us go straight away and check what were those characters.

RISHI (Yevade Subramanyam)

1

A lifetime role for the newbie, Vijay Devarkonda, Rishi was a character we rarely see in Telugu cinema. A flamboyant and ever exploring one!

ANANDI (Yevade Subramanyam)

1-1

An independent girl, a traveler always looking to discover new things. She definitely knew where she belongs to and was mesmerizing!

SIVAGAMI (Bahubali)

3

She was truly vibrant! Without being the warrior sorts, she carried the royalty of having a hold over both Bahubali and Bhallaladeva. Like mentioned, a perfect epitome of justice!

HARSHA (Srimanthudu)

7

A very composed character. He doesn’t do things in the routine way you expect. He has his calculations and measurements. Not even with the girl whom he falls in love with. He was aptly focused on what he wanted to do.

LAKKARAJU/LUCKY (Bhale Bhale Mogadivoyi)

4

A very common trait we all come across in our daily life is to forget. Nani pulled this extremely well. Just when you think he was going over board with his memory, he pinches you with weakness in the movie. That’s Nani!

GONA GANNA REDDY (Rudramadevi)

5

When he appears on the screen, he lights up the cinema hall. There is energy in every audiences eyes. That was the magic Allu Arjun cast on us. Just don’t forget his Telangana dialect!

DUPATI HARIBABU (Kanche)

2

Just the second movie, but you could see the amazing transformation Varun portrayed with this character. He was fierce yet he was disciplined.

MEENA KUMARI (Kumari 21F)

6

One of the best female characters we have ever come across in Telugu cinema. Hebah stole the show completely with her jabbering and maturity equally.

If you feel we missed any character you liked in this year, please mention in the comments below.

Weekend Satakam : Sathhi Gadi Satakam on Work Satisfaction

Weekend Satakam ,Sathhi Gadi Satakam on Work Satisfaction

Sumathi Satakam has always been taught to us by our parents and teachers in order to conduct righteously and to induce some social values into us. A Satakam usually conveys some moral about how one should behave and abide by himself or herself.

Since literature is changing every day, those phrases might not be that interesting in our day-to-day lives now. Without preaching, here we are trying to bring the best of the much forgotten Sumathi Satakam in an even more understandable way. Thanks to Sathhi gadu, he is helping us understand them much better.

Venky’s Special : If Venkatesh Movies Had English Titles

0
Venkatesh Movies Had English Titles

Venkatesh is one actor who has managed to excel in every emotion he portrayed. If you remember in the late 90s and early 2000s, Venky was one actor who had the most success rate. No wonder ‘victory’ became his household name. Though he faltered a bit later, Venky has been smart enough to choose subjects that suit his personality at every stage. He is one actor who can be applauded for the attempts in doing multi-starers, a rare phenomenon in Telugu cinema.

Keeping all this aside, how would it be if his movies had English titles? When Telugu movies are dubbed into Hindi, we know how bizarre the movie names end up to be.

Though translating movie titles is any day fun. 😀

0
Rajnikanth,baba

He is India’s first example of rag-to-riches. Working tirelessly even at the age of 65, Rajinikanth is without doubt a true legend. No one minds even if he romances heroines who are his daughter’s age. We know, it’s all part of the art. But before that, it is Rajinikanth! The thought to act next to this amazing personality is enough to give you goosebumps. Yet, he has never shown his pride. His modesty is his charm.

He is dear to fans, actors and the whole nation alike. Even the jokes we crack on him conveys the affection we have for him. As he is aging, he is only turning out to be a God of Indian cinema. But, what make us give him this tag? Probably these below reasons would justify 😉

10 Amazing Facts About Nalanda University

0
Nalanda University

By Sneha Lodha

Established during the Gupta dynasty, Nalanda was the biggest running Indian residential university located in Bihar and also one of the most famous academic and scientific institutions in the world at the time.

Here is a list of 10 Amazing Facts about our ancient Nalanda University-

1. Nalanda University was a stand-alone International University

2

It was built by Narsimha Deva in the 6th century B.C. and remained the best without any hindrance for over 800 years with around 10,000 students and nearly 2700 faculties who came from all over the world (Korea, Japan, China, Tibet, Indonesia, Greater Iran, Persia, Greece, Mongolia and many more).

2. Nalanda University was an ancient seat of learning

10

The University had 10 temples, meditation centers and the greatest library of the world divided into three building-Ratnasagara (nine storeyed building), Ratnadadhi and Ratnaranjaka; which not only contained religious manuscripts but had a huge collection of books on literature, astrology, philosophy, science, warfare, history, economics, law, geology, maths, architecture, metallurgy, linguistics, astronomy, medicine and many more. And knowledge was imparted on all these subjects virtually. Most renowned departments were Mathematical and Astronomical.

3. Chinese travelers are a well-known source and students of Nalanda University

9

We have collected most of the information from celebrated Chinese traveler Xuanzang, Hiuen Tsang (Prince of Pilgrims), who visited India in ancient times and left behind valuable source of Indian history through his biography which was written by another Chinese. He studied in Nalanda University and was astonished to see the collection of so many books on wide range of topics in the library.

4. The strength and vastness of the library

8

We can easily understand the strength and vastness of the library of Nalanda University from the fact that it took so many months by the invaders to burn it down completely and the smoke of the burning invaluable books and nearly 9 million manuscripts stayed there for many days. And with the smoke, all the knowledge the mankind has collected and stored went into the flame.

5. Destruction of the ancient Nalanda University was a huge loss for the whole world

3

In 1193, Nalanda University was destroyed by the fanatic Bakhtiyar Khilji who declined Buddhism in India and tried his best to uproot Buddhism and burned thousands of monks alive. And thus, Indians were pushed into the Dark Age but the action done by Khilji was not only a huge loss for India but for the whole world because it was not only a Buddhist monastery but a home to countless monks who came from all over the world in search of knowledge.

6. The university was attacked thrice by the invaders- Huns, Gaudas and Bhaktiyar Khilji.

5

Huns was the first one to do the destruction under Mihirakula during the reign of Skandagupta. But the library was restored and improved with bigger building and better faculties by Skanda’s successors. The second destruction was done by the Gaudas which was again restored by Harshavardhana, the Buddhist king. But the army led by Turkish leader Bakhtiyar khilji did the most destructive attack in 1193 who tried to destroy the roots of knowledge, Buddhism and Ayurveda, from the country. Khilji was an illiterate person who was hired by some Turkish rulers due to his military skills. He was good at killing people (including Muslims) irrespective of their religion.

7. There were some sane people to witness the actions of rulers

6

According to “Tabqat-e-Nasiri,” Minhaj-e-Siraj, who was a Muslim scholar, witnessed the destruction and didn’t approve it. He was one of the “alem” (title in Islam given to knowledgeable person) who used to call Nalanda University as “madrasah” (Means College in Persian language) and the monks as “Brahman-alem”. But as because these minority scholars like Minhaj didn’t had any voice in the war decisions, they had to quietly witness such wrong deeds by the ruling family.

8. Well known scholars studied in Nalanda University

1

Some of the famous scholars who studied in Nalanda University include Harshavardhana, Dharmapal, Vasubandhu, Suvishnu, Dharmakirti, Asanga, Shantarakhsita, Aryadeva, Nagarjuna, Padmasambhava and Xuanzang.
Buddhism is a major religion in India which had seen a setback for around hundred of years due to the loss of the religious texts.

9. Myth and Fact about Nalanda University

7

Myth- Most people come up with these words, “Muslims were responsible for the destruction of Nalanda”.
Fact- A person destroyed Nalanda University who was an Indian and only he was responsible for what he did and no one else.

10. Nalanda University reopened after 800 years

4

The good news is that, there have been plans to revive it from many years and presently the university is in action with two departments. It all started when our former president late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam visited the ruins of Nalanda University during his tenure and mooted the idea of reviving the university with the same glory and standards of the ancient seat of learning to the central government and the proposal got approved. Presently, Nalanda University has a self sustained campus and is a source of energy for the neighboring villages.

You can comment below and add to this list, if you wish to share some information about the ancient Nalanda University or the recent developments.

8 Ways You Can Contribute To Swachh Bharat Without Holding A Broom

0
Swachh Bharat

By Yuvraj Singh

Who doesn’t want to live in a society that is clean and green?

We all are advocates for a neat and clean society, pollution free environment; but how many of us do actually make an effort for that? None of us would prefer to live in a dirty surrounding. There is hardly anyone who does not complains about unattended garbage, open manholes, filthy society and civic agencies not being prompt in their duties. It’s true that civic agencies are responsible for taking care of our society, but it’s also important that we must realize our responsibilities to our society and environment; and do our share.

Our Prime Minister initiating the Campaign of Clean India – Green India, with himself taking up the broom along with his cabinet colleagues, BJP cadres and lakhs of government employees. The Swachh Bharat (Clean India) campaign started in a very unexpected way, with PM and his cabinet citizens of India getting motivated in making clean India – Swachh Bharat.

Let us take some initiative in cleaning your surrounding without picking up any broom-

1. Littering must be stopped

1

Try not to throw away trash or waste materials almost anywhere in and around your house. You must try to dispose off biodegradable as well as non-biodegradable wastes in a proper way and avoid littering it all over your home environment. Set a good example. Use dustbins, it will help in keeping the society clean. If society is plagued by litter then consult with your society members, president and other authorities in order to organize an awareness camp. Work with them and volunteers to clean the litters.

2. Use Dustbin whenever possible

2

Use dustbin or other means for dumping the waste material whenever possible and wherever possible. People even in urban areas are seen throwing the waste on road or around open park areas. Use of dustbin will not only helps in keeping your environment clean but also makes you responsible citizen of India.

By organizing awareness camp you can help them in understanding the importance of using dustbin.

3. Reduce generating the waste and recycling it

3

Many waste products like glass, plastics, aluminum and paper can be recycled instead of been disposed of in the dustbin. This will prevent any air pollution accumulated on burning these products. You can also use reusable towels and reusable bags rather than using disposable plastics or bags.

4. Proper storage of water

4

Water is the most important part of life. Excess or deficit, both, of water not only makes us cry, but can lead to severe damages as well. Proper storage of water can help us combat many problems. We should try to store rain waters; with proper arrangements and help of society members we can utilize them for future usage. Water logging around the society if not managed leads to mosquito breeding which can cause various disease like Dengue, malaria, chikungunya etc.

5. Be real eco-friendly

5

Don’t just talk about eco-friendly concepts and principles, abide by them. Use herbals colors in Holi; avoid using crackers on Diwali; do not dump e-waste (worn out electrical equipment, gadgets, etc.) or plastic waste; avoid using vehicles for short distances, instead walk or use a bicycle; do not overcharge your mobile batteries, charge only when the battery drains out.

6. Plant trees/Adopt trees

6

You should plant trees in your society or you can also adapt any tree and take care of that. Trees will help in controlling the pollution atleast a little bit. Having lots of trees in your society will help you have fresh air for you and your kids, balanced rainfall, and with a beautiful green society you will inspire others to follow the track and save the city and environment.

7. Grow your food locally

7

Planting of the food locally helps in reducing the overall commercial transportation of food items that require pesticides and preservatives to preserve them. These preservatives directly pollute the air. It is also a proven facts that organic food is more sustainable that the one which is preserved using harmful pesticides and chemicals, thereby causing harm to the entire global ecosystem.

8. Drive your car less

8

You can drive your car less and acquire other means of transportation instead. Many countries recommend repairing of leaking air condition of your car that adversely destroys the upper layer of ozone atmosphere. You must also be careful while filling your car with gas and see that it doesn’t spills off the tank. You can also use motor oil that is energy-efficient.Start using public transport as much as you can.

Bicycling is the best alternative to keep environment clean. It not help in reducing the pollution but also keep you healthy.

Follow these tips that will radically change your entire family lifestyle besides having a greater and positive impact on the entire environment.

8 Coolest James Bond Gadgets That You Wish You Had

0
James Bond Gadgets

By Yuvraj Singh

James Bond has always been known for his gadgets. James Bond has had some badass tech over the years- wristwatch lasers, passenger ejector seats. More than anything else, James Bond is known for three things: women, cars, and gadgets.

Ironically, Ian Flemming’s novels about the rebellious MI6 secret agent didn’t feature the wildly fantastic weapons and electronics found in most of the Bond movies. That’s why the recent reboots with Daniel Craig is attempting to bring the series back to its roots. The emphasis is heavy on hand-to-hand combat and light on tech. Still, we would be remiss to discount the impact and influence all the cool toys Bond has used over the years.  Spectre being the 23rd James Bond film, let us look back through the last 22 to find some of our coolest on-screen gadgets. Some are incredible!

1. Sony-Ericsson C902 (Quantum of Solace, 2008)

1

Bond’s phone in Quantum of Solace wasn’t able to zap his enemies or remote control his car, but it was able to perform one cool trick. The C902 had image-identification capabilities that connected to the MI6 computers and allowed him to scan a crowd for criminals

2. Cigarette Rocket ( You only Live Twice, 1967)

2

“This cigarette can save your life!” That’s what Tiger Tanaka tells Bond after he shows him the cigarette rocket that is “accurate up to 30 yards.” Despite the demonstration, Bond still seems unimpressed. Had that been us, we would have placed an order for 20 cartons.

3. Rocket Gun ( You only Live Twice, 1967)

3

James Bond’s guns of choice may have been the Walther PPK, and then P99, but hands down one of the coolest pistols 007 ever fired was the Gyro jet rocket gun. Despite its diminutive size, the rocket guns, as its name implies, packed a wallop of a punch thanks to its rocket-propelled ammunition. Developed and tested for the U.S. and British military, the prototypes now go for a hefty sum at auction.

4. Dagger Shoes (From Russia With Love, 1963)

4

The dagger shoe has become a staple of movie weaponry. The Joker had one in his arsenal in The Dark Knight, it also made an appearance in The Punisher, and, more recently, Salt. But it all started here. Used by SPETRE agents, the seemingly regular pair of formal shoes contained a sharp dagger that would pop out and make kicks all the more deadly.

5. “Little Nellie” (You Live Only Twice, 1967)

5

Nicknamed “Little Nellie” this futuristic aircraft was able to propel Bond in the air and came equipped with rocket launchers, smart missiles, air mines, machine guns, and flamethrowers. Oh, and it was able to be broken down and stored in suitcases.

6. Wrist Darts (Moonracker, 1979)

6

In the event Bond found himself in a situation that hand-to-hand combat, laser cutters, or his Walther pistol couldn’t get him out of, 007 tucked his diminutive dart shooter under his cuff. When activated, it shot out cyanide-laced and armor-piercing darts. Sometimes subtly works best.

7. X-Ray Glasses ( The World Is Not Enough, 1999)

7

X-Ray glasses, like moving sidewalks and jet packs, are another thing we as kids thought would be here by now. Alas, they’re still the domain of science fiction. We’re surprised it took until 1999 to get a pair of x-ray specs into a Bond movie.

8. Bell Rocket Belt (Thunder Ball, 1965)

8

James Bond’s low-powered propulsion pack was another product created for real-world military use that made its way to film. Designed and built by Bell Aerosystems in the 1960s, the Rocket Belt used heated water vapor, nitrogen gas, and hydrogen peroxide to lift a person nearly 30 feet into the air. That was high enough for 007 to escape to his Aston Martin DB5 after killing SPECTRE agent Jacques Bouvar.

8 GIFs Of Rajni Kanth That Show He Is The ‘Baap’ Of Style

0

Where does one start about Rajni Kanth? The least one can tell about Rajni Kanth is, he is a legend in every way. Even a kid knows that Rajni Kanth’s fan following is incomparable to any star in India. He is close to the masses not just because of his elan on screen, but the charisma weaved around simplicity is what makes him such a legend. His style, his mannerism, his dialogue delivery, everything he does on screen makes him a class apart. He has carved a niche for himself with brisk body movements, salutes or even flipping a coin.

His style is nothing new to us, but watching it over again is always a pleasure. Here take a look at his styles and mannerisms that even made some us whistle madly.

The Amazing Story Of Salman Khan’s Hit and Run Case

0
Salman Khan

It’s been over a decade since the Salman Khan hit and run fiasco. If it was a commoner he would be presently serving his sentence in jail. But, since its Sallu Bhai, a celebrity in our beloved country India, no wonder the verdict has come out in his favour. All through these years the evidences and trials have been tried and twisted which half the country had no clue about. This case is one rare example when no one gave a damn about the judiciary and its system. To take a look back, we bring you the whole story from his white land cruiser to his tweet today. We added some element of fun, just like Sallu Bhai does with his movies.

Bengal Tiger Review : It’s A Routine Roar, But Engaging!!

0
bengal tiger movie review

After the project jumping around for a while with the casting, Sampath Nandi’s Bengal Tiger has finally released and has managed to live up to the expectations. Yes, its surprising! The story is nothing new like any other commercial movie. But, Sampath Nandi, who seems to have mastered the way of narrating a commercial story has emerged a winner. After all, these sort of wacky entertainers are what Telugu cinema has been banking on always. Watching the trailer itself, one could estimate how the movie is going to be. And it is exactly what you expected to see. A pakka Ravi Teja entertainer! Like most of his movies, Ravi Teja gives the value for your money with this one too.

Aakash (Ravi Teja) is rejected by a girl because he is not a celebrity. He instantly decides to became a famous person. Impressing a state minister (Sayaji Shinde) with his wit and weird reasoning, in no time he becomes the right hand to Home Minister, Nagappa (Rao Ramesh). Shradha (Rashi Khanna) is Home Minister’s daughter whom Aakash wants to impress and eventually they fall for each other. Luckily Nagappa accepts their love and invites Chief Minister (Boman Irani) for their engagement. But, that is not what Aakash has in mind. He breaks loose everything when the Chief Minsiter steps in. I will stop here, what happens further? Where Tammanah features and what is Aakash’s goal is up to you to find out.

Special Mentions:

Prudhvi needs a special mention for his comic act. If last week he was the only interesting role in Shankarabaranam, in this one, he bombarded the screen with this comedy. It is good to see him doing what he is best at.

Punchlines have been a crazy feature in almost every Telugu commercial movie. Sampath Nandi’s dialogues gives you a good dose of some crazy lines.

Another surprise element is Rashi Khanna. You will be awe-struck watching her sizzling glamour on screen.

Boman Irani doesn’t need any mention. He is an asset anyways!

Technical Performances:

Sampath Nandi has a good command over churning commercial pot-boilers and he lives upto the mark in this one too. His screenplay is engaging and that is what makes this film watchable. Though Bheems doesn’t please you with the songs and they also act as a hurdles in watching the movie, his BGM is impressive. Production values of Telugu movies in the recent times have seriously grown in terms of richness and quality. This one is no exception. Soundarajan did a fair job with his camera in spite of Ravi Teja looking too lean.

Bottomline:

Keep you analytical minds at home and enter the hall. Main stream Telugu films are commercial entertainers and you cannot expect every time a Inception from no where.

Ek dum masala movie anuko!

6 Stand-up Comedians Who Are Now Lost

0
Raju Shrivastav,Stand-up Comedians

By Mayur Mahajan

Stand-up is a simple business – just a man or a woman with a microphone and something funny to say. Is that as simple as we say it? I have often heard that this job is the hardest in the world, not because they have to do the job of Barack Obama or Narendra Modi, but this is considered as the most difficult of the performance arts. Why? Because with comedy, people know what they like. Nobody in history has ever walked out of a stand-up show saying, “That guy was hilarious, but I didn’t laugh.”

The modern stand-up scene in India is only six years old, so comics and audiences are learning together. But this doesn’t mean that crowds don’t know what they like ‐ that comes naturally. Comedy speaks; humor listens. However, the scene in India vs. America is night and day ‐ and that’s not just because of the time difference. AM I RIGHT, PEOPLE?!

Lets take a look at the the stand-up comedians who were once heartthrob of the India.

1. Raju Shrivastav

10 Celebrities With The Worst Fashion Sense

0
Ekta Kapoor,Celebrities With The Worst Fashion Sense

By Vaidehi Rawool

The Bollywood industry draws hordes of people towards its golden glean to become aspiring actors as well as fans to the celebrity heart-throbs. The film industry is taken way too seriously by one and all here, whether it be fasting for your favourite star’s good health or standing for hours outside their house to get a glimpse of them. We have all loved them and have gone ga-ga over their lavish lifestyle.

Every youngster tries to emulate the outfits of his/her most loved celebrity and is awe-struck by the fact that they never ever are seen repeating their clothes, ever! We all believe that they can almost buy anything off of the face of the earth with the money they earn. Hence it is unfathomable to us all when these celebrities turn out to be absolute fashion duds. Here’s a list of 10 celebrities who either are deliberately blind to dressing etiquette or have the worst fashion sense ever.

1. Vidya Balan

10

She might have taken the whole dressing Indian thing way too seriously and seems to have taken it to a new level altogether. There’s no denying a fact that it time to either gift her a proper mirror or a new dress stylist.

2. Ekta Kapoor

1

Famously known as the queen of the telly world, Ekta Kapoor is also infamously known for her huge wedges and long strapless gowns with plunging necklines.

3. Sonakshi Sinha

2

In her bid to prove all those calling her fat, wrong; this starlet has begun to dress up in clothes which are a tad bit too tight for her leading to her looking a tad bit too tacky.

4. Chunkey Pandey

3

Wearing shocking pink floral t-shirts with a white pantsuit are definitely earning this celebrity bad flak.

5. Govinda

4

This veteran star has forever enthralled us with his comic timing and slapstick humour. His dressing sense though hasn’t really. Green and red aren’t really supposed to be worn together.

6. Rani Mukherjee

5

Although at one point the most loved actress of them all, today this diva seems to have given her a fashion sense a toss and started dressing very garishly. We need our Tina back please!

7. Rakhi Sawant

6

She is not only known for being hungry for publicity but also her whacky dressing sense, which most often than not gives us all a bad eye sore.

8. Mallika Sherawat

7

This leggy lass, for reason unknown likes to expose herself in the most unbecoming of ways at most social dos. She gives figure-hugging clothes a whole new meaning altogether.

9. Ranveer Singh

8

This actor oozes charm and flamboyance. But sometimes this flamboyance takes the better of his judgement when it comes to his fashion sense, which ends up bordering on outrageous then.

10. Mika Singh

9

Very old looking scarfs and the ever attached pair of glares, which have almost taken a look of the non-detachable limb for this singer, make him a sure member of this list.

Chennai Floods : Was It A Man Made Disaster? This Video Gives You A Clarity

0
Chennai Floods,Chennai

The torrential rains that caused a menace to the city of Chennai was one the saddest things to have happened this year. It created havoc disrupting the daily lifestyle of many Chennaites. While most of us saw this as a natural calamity, somewhere deep within, these are the consequences a poor system in place too. While raising a finger against the system may not seem completely viable, at least the damage could have been avoided to an extent. On one side experts tell us that it was due to the high moisture content in the El Nino, the warm ocean currents alongside Pacific coast which arise during the Christmas time. But, the other side unknown to many is that this was an equally man-made disaster.

Negligence of crucial projects, illegal construction of buildings, mind-less urban planning of the city are few reasons that lead to this calamity. This video by Indian Express gives you a clear picture of what went wrong with the Chennai floods

‘Happy To Bleed’: It’s Time To Speak Out Loud, PERIOD

0
Happy To Bleed

By Tripada Bharati

The current Sabrimala episode has triggered once again the discourse on gender which partly hinges around women biology, and issues of menstruation as a way of discriminating women. As a matter of fact, we know that women across cultures and religions go through certain rigidities during their monthlies such as abstaining from religious rituals and in some cases; they are even barred from cooking and are made to sleep in isolation. Such practices are grounded in the notion of purity and impurity; women, during period, are considered to be impure and hence call for ban.

On closely scrutinizing this issue, it strikes that it’s one form of internalized patriarchy which is premised on different roles for different gender wherein men always have the upper hand. Religion becomes the silent enforcer making the already wide chasm deeper thereby helping maintaining the status quo. In the current context of Sabrimala, where women between age 10-50 cannot enter the temple citing justification by making Lord Ayappaa a celibate is utterly ridiculous. In this age where we are fighting for gender equality, barring women from temples and mosques (A PIL is pending against ban on women entry to Haji Ali Dargah’s Inner Sanctum) doesn’t hold any grounds. In fact, this is about time that we counteract them.

Happy To Bleed

The infamous and utterly cool statement by the president of Sabrimala Devaswom Board,
Prayar Gopalakrishnan,
that women will be allowed to enter Sabrimala temple only after a machine is invented to check the purity of women, in fact affords us the opportunity to mount protest against such discriminating traditions. “Happy to bleed” is one such protest in the right earnest, that women’s monthlies are not priests’ business, or for that matter, anybody’s. We need to understand that discrimination based on biology is not religious or cultural but political. It is one of the many mechanisms to weaken/oppress the already marginalized sections of the society of which women form a significant part. There is a huge need to counter these cunning stratagems which many a times seek its justification in religion and culture.

Another bold move in this direction was seen a few months ago when a woman namely, Kiran Gandhi, ran marathon in her period without a pad or tampon.Well, one may say that such extreme ways can be avoided; there are other ways one can go about it. But, sometimes, we do need to shock people to jolt them out of their Kumbhakarna Sleep. Kiran writes in her post to Huffington Post that she decided to do this in order to counter period shaming and to stand in solidarity with women who don’t have access to menstruation sanitary products. By this move, she brought the so called secretive topic of menstruation out in the open, not to be embraced or critiqued but to be discussed. In our society, we consider menstruation a taboo. Women feel shy buying sanitary pads let alone discussing it. I have grown up in a middle class family hiding my period from my father, brothers and, so to say, from all men. I also remember myself giving another excuse for period to have a day off from school.

Happy To Bleed

Broadly, what I want to convey is that these silent rules in the name of religion/culture which aims at discrimination need to be countered. We need to speak out loud ‘PERIOD’ to drive home that it is as normal a thing of women biology as anything. There is nothing shameful and secretive about it. We need more such strident voices Like #happytobleed, to raise the issue of menstruation in order to afford women their right to say that they bleed every month and treating this as a taboo in itself is a shameful act.

The Legend Of Mayabazar And The Amazing Facts About It

0
legends mayabazar

Where does one begin talking about this epic?

Do we need to start from NTR, who initially refused this role, but later accepted it, making it the first time he played a mythological character, a character that elevated him to the Chief Minister of the state?

Or do we delve into the minute details of laddoos gobbling down Ghatotkacha’s mouth – the shooting of which took about four days to perfect? Each and everything associated with Mayabazaar is a history of its own. The concept of taking a tale from mythology and weaving a fiction around it, is magical in the first place.

At that time, when Vijaya-Vahini Creations was filming Mayabazaar, they would not have known its impact, though it was made on a large scale – the biggest budget movie of those times  with a budget of Rs. 2 lacs!

It is not without reason that the director is called the captain of the ship. KV Reddi is legend by himself for the way he handled this fiction from mythology, and all the visual effects associated with it. The romantic lahiri lahiri moments he created for Abhimanyu and Sasirekha, Krishna and Rukmini and Balrama and Revathi in parallel just shows the excellence in his command over the script.

The creation of Mayabazar, the palace where Ghatotkacha puts the Kauravas amidst his utter chaos simply shows us his brilliance in creating visual effects in front of the camera. He made space for some cool romance, clever plots, more than those funnier moments, excellent visual effects, soothing music and before you notice, the movie has already come to an end in the simplest way possible.

Cast: No wonder actors who are part of this legendry movie went on to become legends. A book can be written on the way each actor took up their role and did it so perfectly. Looking at NTR all through, I felt if he really existed as Lord Krishna on the screen. ANR was his soft and romantic best, and Savitri stole the show with the variance instantly from real Sasi to fake Sasi, disguise of Ghatotkacha.

However, it was SVR who took the movie to another level altogether. His mannerism is of top notch, and dialogues just flowed from his mouth. You will end up falling in love with him especially towards the end when he gives all the credit to Lord Krishna for making him do this. Gummadi, Relangi, Suryakantham, CSR Anjaneelu to Allu Ramalingiah, every cast-member was in perfect sync in Mayabazaar.

Technical Department: We actually don’t hold any status to talk about the brains behind this classic. Marcus Bartley, the DoP with whom KV worked for most of his movies with has the major role in keeping us engrossed with his frames. The scene in which plates of sweets magically appear in the kitchen, or that laptop-like device that Krishna gifts, where you can see whatever is closest to your heart, were sci-fi concepts far ahead of their times.

Gantasala’s music blends so nicely throughout, that moment when Lord Krishna listen’s to Draupadi’s prayer while at the same time little Krishna is narrating the Kalia incident in the play they are watching.

The art involved in creating the magnificent palace and rooms not only shows the creativity of Art Directors – Gokhale and Kaladhar, but the production values maintained by Vijaya-Vahini. A special mention needs to go to the supporting cast including co-dancers, who were simply perfect. That shows that even the minute details were so carefully taken care of.

Taking a year of pre-production shows the hard work put into this film’s details, which is still very rare in the current scene.

When Mayabazaar finally released, it changed the way Telugu cinema was looked at across the country. The film trounced each and every record that existed till then, bringing in the trend of mythological films that became the face of the industry for decades later.

Here are some of the facts about the film:

12384756

For the generation that we are in now, not sure how many would have really watched Mayabazar. Anyone wants to know the sheer brilliance of Telugu Cinema or atleast for the love of Cinema, it’s a must watch and for who already watched, let’s hope the article piqued your curiosity to go check out the film once more!

After all, that is what makes a film a classic!!

What is your favourite moment from Mayabazaar? Let us know in the comments section below!

Shankarabaranam Review : Completely Out of Tune !

0
Shankarabaranam,telugu movie,Shankarabaranam poster

When you pick the title of a classic, you should ensure you do justice to it.

Whether the plot is relevant to the original or twisted completely, the name carries some amount of goodwill. The latest Nikhil and Nandita starrer, Shankarabaranam, faced the same issue. Not only did they misuse the title, the whole pack went haywire.

Goutam is an NRI and his father goes bankrupt because of his ill-minded friends who back-stab him. Unable to bear the burden of huge debts, his father attempts suicide. Saving his father from committing suicide, Goutam decides to go to Bihar to sell their ancestral property, the Shakarabaranam Palace. Upon reaching Bihar, he discovers that it is not as easy as he thought. Kidnappings and chaos from nowhere make it more complicated. It is his relatives who stay in the palace and he has to come to terms with them before he gets them to sign the NOC. There he meets his girl who happens to be his niece, Happy (Nandita). She agrees to stay on his side. Rest of the story is about whether Goutam manages to sell the property amidst all the Bihar chaos or not.

Apart from the title, Kona Venkat was also a major factor in attracting the audience. Earlier, every movie of his had been out and out entertainers. Once you get a grip over this skill, you’ve got to experiment religiously and increase your capacity as a writer. Kona, taking the audience for granted, came up with something unacceptable and burnt his fingers. Nikhil, who had a series of good movies coming his way couldn’t manage to sustain this one. The concept of this movie sounds interesting on paper. It looks similar to a Hindi movie, but Kona played with the screenplay terribly. This acted against the movie.

Barring Prudhvi, who has been doing decent roles of late, none of the cast is impressive. By the time the movie ends, its only Prudhvi and to an extent Sapthagiri, who manage to entertain you. Sanjay Mishra, who plays a goon in Bihar is not much noticed. Nandita was mediocre. Nikhil himself didn’t seem confident and was left confused in the character.

If a script isn’t gripping, cinematography and music, are likely to follow the same path. Even if they did their best to elevate the subject, it couldn’t be noticed anywhere in the movie.

The much hyped Shankarabaram has gone totally out of tune.

Ooops, I finished the review so fast! That’s the effect of the movie! All you could do is sit and wait like me for the next week. Bengal Tiger is on his way!

Shocking! AIADMK supporters adding ‘Amma’ poster to relief material

Jayalalithaa Chennai

While Chennai is reeling from the worst floods it has experienced in the last 100 years, AIADMK supporters have left no stone unturned in milking the maximum mileage from the relief work.
The Chennai floods have seen contributions from all parts of the country. However, public anger surfaced yesterday when it was observed that political workers for the ruling AIADMK were pasting photos of ‘Amma’ – as Jayalalitha is called in the state – before sending them out to people.

This is not the first time that social welfare schemes are carrying the images of politicians. In UP, it is common for the ruling party to have its ruler’s face stamped over basic supplies. However, to resort to such unethical practices when there are hundreds of people dying, and thousands stranded, shows that our political parties will leave no stone unturned to gain cheap publicity.

What is even more shocking is that all the relief supplies were private donations from individuals who wanted to help out the people in Chennai.
The incident has angered citizens in Tamil Nadu, and portrays the party in a negative image.

What happened to Cartoon Network?

If you happen to belong to the much normal and ancient (meaning  entirely boring in today’s day) generation of the late 1990s, then you would have definitely felt your heart melt at those cartoon network pictures doing rounds on social media. No one feels the pain of not being able to watch great quality cartoons more than us, the 90s kids (or so we believe).

Courage-the-Cowardly-DogFrom the Loony Toons to the Road Runner Show (a personal favourite) to other shows like Jhonny Bravo, Courage the cowardly dog, The Powerpuff Girls ( cue their theme song), the Justice League (to all those Flash! fans), Dexter’s Laboratory. Cartoon Network was literally like the equivalent of Google today, you could find any cartoon for any taste however distinct it may be.

Road RunnerThere was Ed Edd n Eddy for the late night mind totally zapped out of energy. There was Fairly Odd Parents for those who believed in magic at that time, there was Tom and Jerry loved by all regardless of their age. Dexter’s Laboratory was enjoyed more for the sibling rivalry than the science in it. Each one of us felt like we were a part of Bay Blade and Pokémon.Dexter-s-Laboratory

So many shows, so much of love, addiction and staring at screens! Those were the golden days. Wonder what went wrong then? Why did Cartoon Network suddenly decided that these shows weren’t really upto the mark and it should start catering to the relativity of the audiences more?

Many points come to mind then. Probably, with the influx of many new cartoon channels springing up like mushrooms launched Cartoon Network into a frenzy to be apart from all of them. The management was taken by the ideal of ‘Swadesi’- indigenous and decided that India would like to see those shows that are made in India! Most probably the generation of now isn’t as taken with the western cartoons as much as the then generation was. Probably cartoon network decided to outsource creativity? (More like no creativity at all). Was it because they go too taken with the Chinese and Japanese type of cartoons and decided to air them all day long (!)

The best thing about all those shows at that time was they fed one’s imagination, made people more creative. Nowadays it’s just bright neon coloured  balls dancing all over your screen while a fussy kid in the background stares blankly at the telly, while drooling into a puddle newly formed near his feet.justice-legue

How can a channel go from being so nice and lovely to bizarre and unruly? Well, we’ve asked this question about Miley Cyrus and landed onto no answers yet, so CN seems like a far cry.

Whatever happened to it, the only thing needed in life is that we need to get our beloved CN back, how long can one watch cartoons on YouTube, totally defeating the purpose of that site? It’s time we stop sheepishly smiling on being trolled about the fact that we are the 90’s generation and bring back our beloved characters in their reel life, don’t you think?

Theatre – to many of us, is still something that belongs to the elite category. While the irony is, theatre is still striving for existence due to lack of financial support. As a society we are used to watching more of cinema and television. For many, theatre is a boring act, even before we realise what the play is about. It is not any particular individual’s fault. The experience of theatre itself was never given to us. The profession even till now struggles to be chosen as a career option. The needed awareness was never provided.

However, things have changed over the past few years. Yes! Thanks to some theatre groups in the city. In the last few years, Hyderabad has been witnessing some of the best performances. The word of mouth has proven its strength. Theatre groups in the city have grown in number and are now actively doing regular shows around the city.

All is good! What’s the ‘drawback’?

A major flaw with theatre is it lacks a library, a library of reliable content and references for aspiring theatre artists. On one side, you have the theatre groups and well known artists. But, on the other side, how does one get there?

If you take a closer look, most of the professions have content and references readily available. With the available information, one can even learn a guitar online. It’s not the same with theatre. While one may have the zeal to become a theatre artist, but there is a dearth for information or inspiration from his idols which he/she would love to refer to.

Solution: Need a Catalyst to bridge the gap.

Here is your catalyst. Break A Leg!

Green Room Diaries

Recap-GreenRoomDiaries-NanditaDasThe first initiative of Break A Leg is the ‘Green Room Diaries’. All you need to know about Kejriwal’s Odd-Even scheme to reduce Delhi’s pollution

Kejriwal’s Odd-Even scheme,Delhi,number plate,Delhi traffic

The World Health Organisation (WHO) last year announced that India has 13 of the most polluted cities in the world, and this was leading to premature deaths and physical problems for the residents.

To tackle this problem of pollution, the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi has come up with a new scheme called Odd-Even, where vehicles having odd and even numbers will be allowed to ply on the roads on alternate days.

However, the announcement has been met with a lot of criticism and sarcasm on Twitter and other social media platforms. This is not a very unique scheme, as other cities and countries have tried this earlier. Most notably, Paris had tried this system to regulate the traffic a few months back, but they cancelled the initiative after a day, choosing instead to ban all cars for a day in Paris so that people could enjoy the city without traffic and congestion.

Under Arvind Kejriwal’s system, there will be separate days when Odd numbered cars can use the roads, and other days when even numbered cars will be allowed to use the roads. The initiative is being criticized as a lot of people are accusing the government of causing trouble to middle class consumers, as rich families have more than two cars in their households.

Twitter and other social media platforms spent a good part of yesterday trolling Arvind Kejriwal for his initiative. What do you think of the Odd-Even initiative proposed by the Delhi government?

The villagers in Nainital, which is a popular tourist spot, have resorted to the practice after the menace of wild boars caused damage and destruction for the village.

The villagers admitted that playing loud music keeps wild animals at bay, since they generally avoid human beings. However, with Honey Singh songs having loud and powerful beats, the songs are becoming the most popular numbers for the villagers.

The villagers have also admitted to playing bhajans and devotional songs earlier. Looks like Honey Singh has found new fans in the jungle. But aunty forest officer bulayegi!

Chennai has witnessed the most fierce rains in the past 100 years. It sent the city into a state of turmoil and unrest. But, how many of us know that the system is also held responsible for city’s present condition?  Kamal Haasan, who was not majorly affected with the floods, expressed his distress over the state’s civic management.

Chennai has been facing criticism for its poor civil administration for which Kamal lashed out the ruling party calling them self-appointed Gods. In an interview with Firstpost, Kamal said “The entire system has collapsed. It will take Chennai months to get back to normal even when the rains stop. Where is all of the taxpayer’s money going? I don’t take black money. I pay my taxes. What is being done for me and my people with my hard-earned money?”

Slamming the people in power, Kamal was distressed with the government stretching its arms out for donations. Kamal has always been known for speaking on social issues. Frustrated, he said “I am truly sad and sick. I feel guilty for my being in a comfortable home. I earn very little compared to the government. But now when our state is in distress they are asking for donations to do what we appointed the government to do. All this drama of rich and poor is a farce, though. The politicians give a damn about social equality as long as they remain in power.”
