North Korea Scientists Claim To Have Invented ‘Hangover-Free’ Liquor

0

Scientists in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, claim to have invented a type of liquor that does not induce hangovers.

Hangovers have traditionally been a pain-point for drinkers, and while this news is likely to spread a smile across the faces of billions of people worldwide, one can’t really take North Korea very seriously. The country is the only remaining country in the world that has no contact with the rest of the world.

Also, their scientists regularly come up with weird announcements. A few years ago, they claimed to have found the cure for AIDS and SARS. In fact, this ‘hangover-free liquor’ is claimed to be extracted from the same plant – ginseng – that was said to be used for the cure to AIDS.

The scientists also claim that the drink uses glutinous rice instead of sugar, which causes the liquor to be absolutely ‘hangover-free’. The name of the alcohol is ‘Koryo Liquor’, and the local North Korean media claims that it is being loved by experts and users alike.

However, if you wish to taste a sample of the drink, you stand no chance! North Korea doesn’t promote tourism in anyway, nor does it engage in business with the rest of the world. So till the day we have such alcohol in our country, please help yourself to some rum and pray to God that you don’t get a hangover.

Kerala Man Compensated 30K As Soap Didn’t Make It Fair

0

If you have seen the countless ads for fairness creams and soaps, you might probably understand the frustration of a gentleman from Kerala, Mr. K. Chaathu.

A sculptor by profession, K. Chaathu went on to sue the soap company, and also actor Mammootty, who was the brand ambassador for the soap. In his petition, the man said that he had been using the soap for more than a year, but it hadn’t made him fair in any way.

It is not uncommon for fairness creams and soaps to claim magical fairness in a matter of a few weeks all across social media. While the Advertising Standards Council of India regularly ropes in fairness companies for their misleading ads, this move is the icing on the cake.

After hearing out his case, Mr. K. Chaathu was asked to be paid a compensation of Rs. 30,000 by the company for its misleading ads. The soap company was originally sued for a total amount of Rs. 50,000. However, the customer court decided to place the compensatory amount at a total of Rs. 30,000.

This should keep fairness creams and soap brands on their toes.

Pakistan Lifts Ban On YouTube After Three Years

0
Pakistan Lifts Ban On YouTube

Pakistan has lifted the ban on YouTube that was enforced in the country three years ago. The ban, which came into place after a documentary titled Innocence of Muslims that was deemed offensive to religious sentiments, was aired.

The ban affected millions of users in Pakistan, and the lifting of the ban by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) came as a sign of relief. It has been reported that Google has signed a deal with the Pakistan government, in which the government has the right to censor offensive material from the site.

Social media activists in Pakistan have expressed doubts about the transparency behind the deal but Google assured its users that it wouldn’t censor material without conducting a review. In its official statement, Google’s representatives expressly told reporters that ‘We have clear community guidelines, and when videos violate those rules, we remove them.” Over the last few years, some of Pakistan’s most popular YouTube channels, such as Coke Studio Pakistan wasn’t accessible for millions of users in Pakistan.

If you’re reading this in Pakistan, congratulations guys!

Uber
newsroom.uber.com

Uber, the world’s No.1 app-based taxi service, is all set for a major expansion drive, and will soon have helicopters to transport its customers.

Uber has tied up with Airbus to provide the service on an a ‘pilot’ basis for the Sundance Film Festival happening in Park city, Utah. The tie up between Airbus and Uber comes in the wake of Uber’s aims to venture into transport services in the air and on water.

It has been reported in international media that the chopper rides will cost $200 in the day and $300 in the night, and the ride is estimated to be for a duration of 15 minutes. This is not the first time that Uber is experimenting with chopper services for its customers. A few years ago, Uber had announced its chopper service after tying up with another airlines company, Liberty Helicopters. However, the service wasn’t very popular, with the total cost of the service reaching up to $3,000.

It was also reported that Uber had experimented earlier with other modes of transport, such as autorickshaws in India and boats in Turkey.

Good News, Ladies! Mumbai To Get Pink Autos Driven By Women

0
Pink Auto Drivers in mumbai

If you have travelled in autos in Mumbai, you’ll know it can be quite the headache. However, the Mumbai authorities have decided to end the problem once and for all by introducing pink autos that are meant for women passengers only.

The autos will be driven by women only, and if this scheme pulls off, it will be a huge shot in the arm for the women in India’s busiest metro. Public transport has been a problem in Indian urban cities, as even cabs have been unsafe for women in Delhi in the past.

In a first, 543 women were allotted licenses to run the Pink Autos through a lottery process. According to reports in newspapers like The Times of India, these autos are being run to cater to women passengers, and can be identified by their distinct colour – pink, or light orange. A further thousand more licenses are pending to be allotted, according to a source.

The Pink Autos have been tried out in other cities previously, but it’s the first time it is going to be implemented in Mumbai. If you are a woman in Mumbai, please do use the service and let us know how it is for us here at Wirally. We would love to do a review of the Pink Auto service for the rest of the online junta here.

First Flower in space,Tizzy

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly sent a tweet on Saturday with a picture of the first flower to bloom in space, and it has sent the scientific world into frenzy ever since.

The flower can normally be seen flowering in Southwestern United States, and this is the second natural living object to grow in space, after the International Space Station grew lettuce in space. The flower is reported to be called ‘zinnia’, and if the experiment continues to be successful, it will make it a lot easier for astronauts on space missions to grow and eat vegetables and fruits.

As of now, NASA has a special catering department that looks into the gastronomical needs of the astronauts, who are provided with pre-cooked and packed food. With the first flower blooming in space, astronauts should be high-fiving each other in joy, and bidding goodbye to their process meal packs!

Delhi Wins Its First Premier Badminton League Title

0
PBL

Delhi Acers, the Premier Badminton League franchise beat Mumbai Rockets on Sunday to claim their maiden Premier Badminton League title. Playing in front of their home crowd at the Sriri Fort Sports Complex, the Delhi Acers beat Mumbai Rockets 4-3 in a nail-biting finish.

As with most sports events in India, there was Bollywood presence too, as Akshay Kumar had come visiting to promote his film at the event. There were a few celebrity matches as well, before the actual competitive matches began.

The Premier Badminton League uses the interesting concept of ‘Trump’ matches, wherein a player gets two points for a victory, but a loss results in a point being deducted. Delhi used this to their advantage, with their player Rajiv Ouseph playing his trump match. Mumbai were leading 3-2 in the finals and Rajiv needed to win the match under any circumstances.

The exciting match ended with Rajiv beating Mumbai’s Gurusai Dutt and managed to get a slight edge, which was enough for them to scrape together a victory. This is the second season of the Premier Badminton League, with the earlier edition being called Indian Badminton League. Hyderabad Hotshots had won the first season of the League.

Premier Badminton League joins a string of other sports that have been enjoying a good following in India, like the Pro Kabaddi League, the Indian Super League (football) and the Indian Hockey League.

Indian Cricketers Banned From Casinos In Australia

0
Indian Team,Indian cricket Team

The Indian cricket team is in Australia to take part in a bilateral cricket series. However, the BCCI has issued strict warnings to the Indian team members to stay away from casinos while they are playing in the tournament.

Australia is famous for its luxurious casinos, and the Australians are famous for their nightlife and culture, and liberal amounts of beer go hand in hand with an Aussie good time. To avoid any unwanted situation, the Indian cricket team has been asked to stay within the hotel premises without stepping into the casinos.

The stance of the BCCI has been mixed when it comes to off-field behavior of its team. On earlier occasions, wives and girlfriends were banned from visiting the players during a cricket tournament. However, the rule has since been relaxed so that cricketers can have their partners staying with them during a cricket tournament.

Newspapers have reported that the decision was taken by none other than BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Board Secretary Anurag Thakur, currently the two most powerful individuals at the BCCI. The Indian team is to stay in Australia till January 31st, following which they will return to India for the preparations for the T20 World Cup.

Hyderabad Dalit Scholar’s Death Brings University to Standstill

0
Rohith Vemula,Hyderabad University

By Tripada Bharati

Hyderabad University is boiling with the news of the suicide of Rohith Vemula.

Unlike normal suicide cases, this seems to be a case of ‘the-act-of-driving-somebody-to-commit-suicide’. However, the departed soul, Rohit Vemula, has cleared everybody of the blames regarding his suicide in his suicide note.

Yet, the background to this incident poses some hard-hitting questions which has its origins in caste-based discrimination and our apathy/antipathy towards our fellow brethren on socio-cultural grounds. Rohit, 25, was a PhD scholar in Science Technology and Society Studies, from University of Hyderabad. He has been expelled along with four others, all from Dalit community, from the University some six months back following an altercation between ABVP, BJP’s student wing, and ASA(Ambedkar Student Association) of which Rohit was one of the active members. They had been protesting against this decision demanding their reinstatement. A court case by these students against university’s decision in Hyderabad High Court is already pending. For the past two weeks, the PhD student with other four expellees had been protesting by sleeping in the open demanding reinstatement.

The expulsion shows high-handedness by the administration which refused to look into the nuances and made its mind to punish one side while being totally oblivious of the other. Clearly, the decision by University administration reeks of caste biases and yielding to political pressure. Besides, the expellees’ demand to have an open meeting between victims, complainants and the administration remain unmet and some serious questions unanswered.

The suicide note by Rohit Vemula is heart wrenching. It reads:

“Good morning,

I would not be around when you read this letter. Don’t get angry on me. I know some of you truly cared for me, loved me and treated me very well. I have no complaints on anyone. It was always with myself I had problems. I feel a growing gap between my soul and my body. And I have become a monster. I always wanted to be a writer. A writer of science, like Carl Sagan. At last, this is the only letter I am getting to write.

I loved Science, Stars, Nature, but then I loved people without knowing that people have long since divorced from nature. Our feelings are second handed. Our love is constructed. Our beliefs colored. Our originality valid through artificial art. It has become truly difficult to love without getting hurt.

The value of a man was reduced to his immediate identity and nearest possibility. To a vote. To a number. To a thing. Never was a man treated as a mind. As a glorious thing made up of star dust. In very field, in studies, in streets, in politics, and in dying and living.

I am writing this kind of letter for the first time. My first time of a final letter. Forgive me if I fail to make sense.

May be I was wrong, all the while, in understanding world. In understanding love, pain, life, death. There was no urgency. But I always was rushing. Desperate to start a life. All the while, some people, for them, life itself is curse. My birth is my fatal accident. I can never recover from my childhood loneliness. The unappreciated child from my past.

I am not hurt at this moment. I am not sad. I am just empty. Unconcerned about myself. That’s pathetic. And that’s why I am doing this.

People may dub me as a coward. And selfish, or stupid once I am gone. I am not bothered about what I am called. I don’t believe in after-death stories, ghosts, or spirits. If there is anything at all I believe, I believe that I can travel to the stars. And know about the other worlds.

If you, who is reading this letter can do anything for me, I have to get 7 months of my fellowship, one lakh and seventy five thousand rupees. Please see to it that my family is paid that. I have to give some 40 thousand to Ramji. He never asked them back. But please pay that to him from that.

Let my funeral be silent and smooth. Behave like I just appeared and gone. Do not shed tears for me. Know that I am happy dead than being alive.

‘From shadows to the stars.’

Uma anna, sorry for using your room for this thing.

To ASA [Ambedkar Students Association] family, sorry for disappointing all of you. You loved me very much. I wish all the very best for the future.

For one last time,

Jai Bheem

I forgot to write the formalities. No one is responsible for my this act of killing myself.

No one has instigated me, whether by their acts or by their words to this act.

This is my decision and I am the only one responsible for this.

Do not trouble my friends and enemies on this after I am gone.“

Our constitution which espouses ideals of social equality lay ripped apart after this incident. Somewhere we have failed in according everyone its dignity which one deserves.  The malady is a deeper one and has a centuries old history of social discrimination where a human being is robbed of its dignity by being born in a lower social class. The suicide note by Rohit Vemula is a commentary on this.

Virat Kohli’s Perfect Reply to James Faulkner’s Sledge

0
Virat Kohli’s Perfect Reply to James Faulkner

Virat Kohli has built a reputation for being a competitive sportsman on the field, and the third match and he displayed it during the third One Day International against Australia.

Kohli was coasting along smoothly to his 24th century, as he became the fastest in ODI cricket to reach both 7,000 runs and 24 centuries. James Faulkner, the Australian all-rounder tried to get on his nerves by sledging.

Kohli’s response was epic –

‘You’re wasting your energy. There’s no point. I’ve smashed you enough in my life. Go and bowl’.

The comment was picked by up by the stump microphones, and the video has gone viral on the net. Kohli went on to get out in an unfortunate manner, as India lost the third match of the tour consecutively. India now has to pay for pride as Australia has clean-swept the series by winning the first three matches.

Here’s the video of the incident.

Being the country with highest ratio of consumers in all of Asia, it is considered as a major market. Major FDI’s from global companies like Google, Facebook to provide connectivity and information to remote parts of Indian terrain and active participation of countries such as Japan and Singapore to further support India’s cause both technically and financially appears as a good sign for a prosperous step towards development for India.

India in the rise of the 21st century is in the need of a major makeshift with rising population and unemployment raging off charts. These policies depict the active participation of the Government of India and are truly commendable. India’s youth brimmed-up with energy is in the direst need of opportunities and these initiatives would provide the required platform to outshine their talents and capabilities. With the goal urbanization and industrialization “Make in India” will truly empower India with millions of jobs and gateways to emerge as a global power.

Here are some of them that got quite common in our daily lives. They might vary from person to person, but the tone is more or less the same.

5 Comics Everyone Should Read Once In Their Lifetime

0
Best comices

By Vaidehi Rawool

All of us have loved cartoons in our childhood; some of us have been thoroughly obsessed with them. At some point you must have wanted to have a pet that could talk and be amazing company, or to have superpowers and save your town from monsters of all kinds, or go on various adventures and meet dragons and fairies and help them fight off evil or just have plain fun in magical lands.

Most of us loved watching these cartoon shows and never missed even one episode. But, there was a certain period of time in our childhood where, at a certain date every month we waited with bated breath, to hold one of our most beloved possessions in our hands, comic books.

Comic books were born in the early 1880’s and evolved from newspaper editorial to the magazine form which we see today. It may seem that it was the Japanese who might have started the whole comic culture before the Europeans as in Japan these satirical and witty cartoons have forever been the rage. Comic books basically contain illustrations and other devices like the speech bubble and bright colors to convey their stories. These comics have caught the fancy of children for eons now and many of us have grown up with them as a staple of our childhood pass-time. It’s not a surprise then that adults are still enraptured by the comic culture and love dressing up as their favorite comic book heroes (read comicon/cosplay). Here are five comics which should most definitely read at some time in your life.

1. MARVEL COMICS

MARVEL COMICS

Marvel Worldwide Inc. started in 1939 is considered to be one of the most famous comic book franchises all over the world. Through their Marvel Universe they have given us some of our most beloved superheroes like Spiderman, The Avengers, The Fantastic Four and the most loved mutants, The X-Men. In spite of almost all the Marvel comics being turned into movies, the comics will forever be a world apart and perpetually loved by one and all.

2. DC COMICS

DC Comics Inc. a company owned by The Warner Bros is one of the largest and most successful company operating in American comic books and produces material featuring numerous well known superheroes and anti-characters. Some of these are namely Batman, The Joker, Robin, Superman, The Suicide Squad and the most loved of them all, The Justice League.

3. GARFIELD

GARFIELD

The original sarcastic cat, this comic strip was created by Jim Davis. Published in the year 1978 it chronicles the life of this tabby tom-cat, Garfield his not so intelligent owner, Jon and Jon’s over the top, enthusiastic dog, Odie. Garfield has human tendencies of laziness, obsession about food, disdain for Mondays, boredom and sarcastic cynicism which had made him the most loved cat of them all. This comic strip holds the Guinness World Record for being the most widely syndicated comic strip, featuring in almost 2,580 newspapers and journals so far. One famous kitty, isn’t he?

4. CALVIN AND HOBBES

CALVIN AND HOBBES

Calvin and Hobbes is a daily comic strip by American cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985 to December 31, 1995. It follows the humorous antics of Calvin, a precocious, mischievous, and adventurous six-year-old boy, and Hobbes, his sardonic stuffed tiger. The pair is named after John Calvin, a 16th-century French Reformation theologian, and Thomas Hobbes, a 17th-century English political philosopher. At the height of its popularity, Calvin and Hobbes was featured in over 2,400 newspapers worldwide. As of January 2015, reruns of the strip still appear in more than 50 countries. Nearly 45 million copies of the 18 Calvin and Hobbes books have been sold. It seems to be loved by kids even today as it solidifies the whole idea of having a best friend who will be next to you forever.

5. TINKLE COMICS

TINKLE COMICS

We all agreeably loved all the fore-mentioned western comics but had more affinity towards Tinkle. This magazine published mainly in India has forever remained a favorite of kids and adults alike with its enthralling stories, addictive puzzles and fun games. Who can ever forget Suppandi and his antics and the cowardly Shikhari Shambus’s good fortune or the perils suffered by Tantri the Mantri. Also the new and old characters of tinkle namely, Pyarelal, Zimzim and Gotala, “butter-fingers” Amar and the cutest identical twins Ramu and Shamu. Even today Tinkle remains a great fun read for whosoever who is looking for pure Indian cartoon entertainment on pages.

The above five merely make a quarter of all the other loved and cherished comic strips and illustrations there are. We all have loved Archie, The Peanuts, and Marvin to name a few bone-tickling reads. The newest on the block seem to be the Manga comics, these Japanese comics are fast gaining popularity among the young .So go on and get your hands on one of them and lose yourself in the amazing world of comics.

7 One-Liners That Belong Only To Sukumar

0

Sukumar is known for portraying his characters as close to general human behaviour as possible. We all have grey side in us which we rarely confess. Sukumar through his characters shows you that side hidden in us to you. Take a close look at his characters and you’ll observe. It might not be the same, but some of their reactions to situation will definitely connect with you.

He is probably the only director with ‘guts’ to experiment with his films. Even if his movies are not received well with few segments of audience, those sector of audience would be the ones who don’t want to accept the truth. Okay, it might not go well with some. Accepted! But, put your position in his that place and the reaction that character has is the best you can closely connect with. Without doubt, he has given some of the best dialogues in modern Telugu cinema. Here check out those connecting one-liners from his movies. You accept it or not is not an issue, but they definitely stand out!

7 Monuments That Were Victims To Mughal’s Destruction

0

By Sneha Lodha

From the Islamic Literary Sources, it’s clear that over the centuries the Muslim invaders and rulers of the medieval times were only carrying out the commandments of Islam when they eliminated, captured, enslaved, and violated not only Hindus and destroyed or desecrated over 10,000 Hindu temples and monuments whenever and wherever they could; but also dispossessed the Hindus of all their wealth. Thousands of detailed accounts written by hundreds of medieval Muslim historians provide far more extensive evidence of pious performance of temple destruction by their heroes in various parts of extensive Hindu homeland. Archaeological evidence proves that in the same area many of the mosques and dargahs were built with the materials of purposely ruined Hindu monuments.

1. Somnath Temple

Somnath Temple

The Somnath temple, symbol of Hindu defiance and resilience in the face of barbaric assault, was destroyed by Islam six times, and it was also each time rebuilt by Hindus and it still stands today. None of the other temples in the list have been destroyed and rebuilt as many times as Somnath. The destruction was done by Junayad, Mahmud Ghazni, Sultanate of Delhi and last one by the last Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

2. Dwarka

Dwarka

In medieval times, Dwarka was first invaded and damaged by Mohammad Shah. To protect the temple from being destroyed, five Brahmins fought against him and died. After him, Mahmud Begada attacked and plundered the city in 1472 AD and destroyed the temple of Dwarka which was rebuilt by the Hindus.

3. Vishwanath Temple

Vishwanath Temple

The army of Qutb-ud-din Aibak destroyed the original Vishwanath temple which was rebuilt by a Gujarati merchant and was demolished and built again by Raja Man Singh but was again boycotted by orthodox Hindus as he had let the Mughals marry within his family. The temple was rebuilt at its original site by Raja Todar Mal with Akbar’s funding. But the temple was again destroyed by Emperor Aurangzeb who built the Gyanvapi Mosque in its place.

4. Mathura

Mathura

Mahmud Ghazni was the first one to invade the city and to left behind him a trail of destruction by his army who plundered the city, burnt the Temples and broke down several statues probably of Krishna or Buddha. A brilliant white Temple in the honor of Vishnu was also destroyed by the infamous Sikinder Lodi. Mathura was again restored during the reign of Akbar. But with the rule of Aurangazeb came destruction of several Hindu Temples at Mathura and Varansi. Mathura regained its glory during the British rule.

5. Ellora, Trimbakeshwar, Narasinghpur, and Pandharpur

Ellora, Trimbakeshwar, Narasinghpur, and Pandharpur

6. Sitaramji Temple

Sitaramji Temple

7. Hampi

Hampi

The glory of Hampi, one of the flourishing capital cities in Karnataka, tragically ended when invading Mughals completely destroyed the city, its palaces, ornate gateways and its many temples and left there the ruins of the wonderful monuments.

It’s sad to read about them all this destruction. But, we will surely want to mention here that there no one whom one should blame today. It was done by the rulers of medieval times.

Thanks for reading. We will love if you can add to this list.

7 Must To Be Known Truths Behind Our Superstitions

Somewhere in between, these practices have bee attached with daily life sentiments and thus gave rise to many superstitions in the modern times.

Here take a look and atleast from here on pass on the right information. Else, even when your great grand-daughter makes into a Formula 1 race and is with a new car, your grand-daughter (her mother) would insist on tying a lemon and chilli string to her Ferrari.

1. Lemons to a new car or house

1

The cotton thread which is used to pierce the chillis and lemon absorbs the acid from the fruit while it is fresh. This smell keeps the pests and insects away from the shops. Since in the olden days there were no pesticides, this is a simple pesticide which came into practice. This has been turned and twisted and made a custom in modern day.

2. Impure during Menstruating

2

Women lose some amount of blood which makes them weak during menstruation. This time they need only rest – this was only reason for them not to do any household work or cook. Since in the ancient days, sanitary pads were not available, if a woman came into the temple and unknowingly bleeds, it would be a tedious task to rectify it. To avoid all these complications, women were asked to rest at home and take care of themselves. Else, nothing was/is inauspicious. If you had an injury or sickness, would you go to temple? No, right! As simple as that.

But, as time passed by it lead to even more complicated superstitions.

5. Cutting hair or nails post sunset

6

In the olden days there was no electricity. Shaving or cutting nails would result in cutting or injuring one self after sunset because of darkness. Hence our ancestors advised not to cut nails or shave after sunset. Now, hardly anyone cares to believe this.

6. Sweeping after sunset

5

In the ancient days, since there was no electricity, any ornaments or valuable things thrown on the ground wouldn’t be visible after sunset. This was the only reason, they used to not sweep post sunset. Now it has turned to a superstition.

7. Throwing coins into the river

Our forefathers used to throw these coins into the wells and rivers so that when they go in to take bath, there will be sufficient intake of copper and silver. It turned out to be custom without understanding its meaning in the later years.

A Look Back At Soundarya – Ramyakrishna’s Batch of Heroines

0
Soundarya,Ramyakrishna

The general life cycle of a heroine is – debut as a teenager, the next decade in all the big-budget movies, and then slowly fading out, only to make a comeback as a sister/mother. However, if we were to divide the heroines of Telugu cinema into ‘batches’, they would majorly fall into a few. First, came Savitri’s batch, followed by Jayaprada-Jayasudha’s batch, then Sridevi’s batch. What followed later was Soundarya-Ramyakrishna batch of heroines, followed by Simran & Aarti Aggarwal, and now to Samantha-Kajal’s batch.

In a way, the medium is unfair too. While men begin their careers early and reach their peak in their mid-30s, the life span of a heroine is short lived in comparison. By the time an actress reaches her mid-30s, the roles she bags begins to dry up. In a few years, a heroine is given roles of mothers/sisters.

In this article, we will be looking at Soundarya-Ramya Krishna’s batch of heroines who formed the crux of Telugu cinema from the decade of early 1990’s till 2000s. This was the last batch of heroines who actually belonged to the region. After this period, heroines were brought in from north India, and there was something artificial about it – since you knew that the heroine didn’t really understand a word of what she was saying.

THE QUEEN

01

While Sridevi was a class apart – ruling all across the nation, this batch took some time to come into the main arena. But thanks to our Heroes, since it’s a default quality to get bored of Heroines after a while, they have make path inviting the whole new lot.

EARLY BIRDS

02

Divya Bharathi came with a bang and took over the scene in Telugu and Hindi, unfortunately fate played an ugly game and we lost her at very early age leaving audiences and Heroes with no other option but search for even more girls. Ramya Krishna and Meena were the first of the lot to enter while Vijayashanthi and others were still quite active with the main leading men.

THE RULERS

03

Soundarya entered in the early 1990s and went on to win everyone over with her charm and talent. She personified beauty. She along with Ramyakrishna occupied the throne with ease.

TIER-2

04

Roja, Aamani, Rambha and Indraja were the next entrants playing the next layer of Heroines. Kushbhoo and Gowthami were shuffling between Telugu and Tamil and managed to decently woo our guys and us, audiences.

THE IMPORTED DOLLS

05

06

07

The decade being the last of millennium, where modernization was slowly creeping in with few computers and technology here and there, it was also time for the dresses to get chopped from below to the thighs and between their shirts. It was around this time where mana Heroines started to take a back step and paved way for the non-Telugu Heroines who were genuinely exploding bombs. It saw Nagma, Tabu, Shilpa Shetty, Manisha Koirala, Sakshi Sivanand and Anjala Jhaveri etc to come into the scene.

OTHER FLAVOURS

08

Sanghavi, Ravali, Raasi were also of the same batch but were on the budget friendly side of the films while Laila, Heera, Deepthi Bhatnakar, Mahima Chowdary gave fewer appearances. Towards the last few years of the millennium, Simran was the one who came over and neatly made everyone else pack their baggage laying a platform for next generation of Heroines to take over.

09

However, if you ask any true connoisseur of Telugu cinema, there is one regret. That there are very less Telugu heroines doing the rounds at present. At one point, Soundarya and Ramyakrishna ruled the roost in Telugu cinema, winning hearts over with their charm and wit. Today, every heroine looks and sounds the same. You could replace any of them with another in any film, and it still wouldn’t make any difference to the scheme of things.

Virat Kohli,Twitter Accounts Of Cricketers

By Vaidehi Rawool

In the earlier days, when Bollywood and cricket took hold of people like no other, the common man especially in India, followed and almost breathed both the types of entertainment. Back then it was easy to spot Bollywood starlets and go ahead and talk to them by going to shootings or standing for hours outside their house. The device responds to the name “Alexa”; this “wake word” can be changed by the user (to one other choice at present: “Amazon”).

Amazon echo

It would not be an exaggeration to say that the Amazon echo can be the closest thing to a Star Trek computer we can have in our homes.

What can you use it for?

Well, to switch on the lamp before getting out of bed, to turn on the fan or space heater while reading in your favorite chair, or dim the lights from the couch, to watch a movie or other stuff…ahem ahem *coughs —all without lifting a finger…or even raising your voice!
Amazon Echo is voice activated. Embedded with far field voice recognition echo can hear you from across the room even while music is playing.
Tucked under the light ring on Echo is an array of seven microphones. These sensors use beam-forming technology to hear the user from any direction. With enhanced noise cancellation, Echo can hear you ask a question even while it’s playing music.

Although these devices that are going to be available in the coming months will not exactly be ‘affordable’ they will totally be worth the money spent on them. The Ultimate Netflix India Review

0
Netflix Review India

Netflix, the world’s leading video rental and streaming company has launched its services in India, and Twitter went nuts about the announcement. There were questions on whether India, a nation that loves free stuff and gigantic price discounts, would be willing to switch to a model where they have to pay for servies.

However, Netflix seems to have done its research well in advance, and is offering a month of free trial. With minutes, articles titled ‘Shows and movies you should watch in the one month free Trial Netflix period’!!

We checked out Netflix on the day it launched, and the results, are mostly positive, but slightly mixed.

FIRSTLY, SET UP AND INSTALLATION

Remember calling the Customer Care of Tata Sky or Dish TV and waiting for them to respond. Remember three days of calls and mails, followed by two dudes who land up at your house and spend six hours like elves on your terrace.

However, Netflix makes you forget all of that.

All you have to do is log in to their site and register yourself as a new user. Here, if you use an Apple device and have an account with iTunes, it automatically accepts your login credentials. However, if you use a Windows system, you’ll have to provide your Credit Card details.

I wonder why that is, though? Do they not trust Windows users? 😀

You then have to choose the devices on which you wish to use the services, and Netflix offers a wide variety of choices – your phone, computer, PlayStation, or Xbox.
The set up takes less than a minute, and once you download the app on your phone, you are good to go.

USER INTERFACE

This really could be Netflix’s game changer. The Netflix Mobile App is intuitive, and even a three year old can operate it.

Netflix Review India

The UI is as simple as browsing YouTube for videos. All you have to do is go to the Netflix app and choose the movie/TV show that you want to watch. If you have a sound internet connection, the process is butter smooth, and it’s actually simpler than changing from one channel to another on your TV.

We found that switching from one show to another depends a lot on how good your internet connection is, but it should work rather smoothly if you have a decent connection.

OFFERINGS

Now, to come to the main point of the article. Netflix has acquired a lot of good rep in the West for its offerings. Most of the best shows on Netflix are available in DVD stores, but it is really Netflix Originals – shows produced by Netflix – is what gives them the edge.

Netflix India review

We went through the Home Screen of the mobile app and found that the UI saves the last watched video exactly where you left it. The service offers a good range of TV shows and movies, and we completely exploited the free one month trial offer.

If you’re a fan of Hindi films, we found recent hits like Piku, Ship of Theseus, and a strange film called ‘Jatt James Bond’. There is a complete section called ‘Indian’ in the Home menu, and you can access the goodies there.

Netflix review India

‘TV Shows’ is clearly the best section in the menu, with killer shows like Arrow, Making a Murderer, Breaking Bad, and Suits featuring on the home page. Also, watching any of the shows is as simple as clicking on the icon and it begins buffering. We were genuinely impressed.

FINAL VERDICT

We can’t deny we were genuinely impressed by Netflix.
The UI is butter smooth, the offerings are exciting, and you can’t help binge watching. We watched a bit of Narcos, Jessica Jones, and finally settled on Heropanti (he’s Jackie Shroff’s son, come on!).

But now, coming to the most important part of the debate – the price.
We were using Netflix’s one month free trial and so we weren’t really bothered about the cost. But once the honeymoon is over, monthly subscription is going to be an issue (unless you’re distantly related to the Ambani family).

We already pay about 500 a month for our DTH connections, so anything over that is going to be an additional expense. Netflix offers a basic package for Rs 500. You’ll have to shell out an additional 150 for HD viewing, and 800 for Ultra HD.

The other issue is that of internet consumption. Since the entire service is dependent on live streaming, you’ll be burning your internet pack like petrol in a Hayabusa. If you’re ready for that, or if you have somehow managed to use your office internet to connect your device, well, the world is your playground! Go ahead and have fun!

FINAL NETFLIX INDIA REVIEW : Slightly on the expensive side, but completely impressive.

Top 10 Currencies in world

LAME OR LOGICAL? – Decoding Superstitions

0
I AM MENSTRUATING

By Apeeksha

Heading out for an important interview? CV? Check. Confidence? Check. Curd and sugar? Check.

A black cat crossed your path? U-turn please!

Want to make yourself a hot cuppa but hey, you’re menstruating! Don’t even step in the kitchen or else, BURN – IN – HELL.

One can go on and on and on (…and on since 3 on’s prove to be ill omen) listing the number of ‘rules’ or ‘guidelines’ that have been perpetuating from generations and followed religiously. These are, in simple words, superstitions.

Some of these superstitions may come across as hysterically funny while others may seem irritating; but believe it or not, we all follow them ( Some of these if not all). Now, the biggest question that lies ahead is, where did these come from? Did they pop out from some God’s rulebook? Or our ancestors witnessed akashvani? Or, have they been made wittingly after a lot of research and thought?

Can’t say about all of them, but the fact is most of these ‘superstitions’ that often seem illogical are in fact brilliant hacks that contribute in making your life effortless, painless and trouble free.

So ride along and let us explore the radix of the ‘rules’ that we follow and assess if they are still worth following.

1. I NEED TO GO BACK. A BLACK CAT JUST CROSSED MY PATH!

Decoding Indian Superstitions-Black cat

This superstition really offends all the cat lovers and, well, cats as well! (Duh, obviously!) So when(and WHY) did these cute little tabbies turn evil?  Though there are many explanations doing rounds but the most legit one is as follows:

In ancient times plague was the biggest threat to a civilisation. Due to lack of medical proficiency the only option left with people was to save themselves from this infestation. Since rats are the most common carriers of plague, people associated the presence of cats with the presence of rats and hence, the possibility of being invaded by plague.

But so is not the case now. Therefore, next time you see a cat crossing your path, adore the little fur ball instead of freaking out.

2. ALL COMFY AND COZY SLEEPING WITH HEAD TOWARDS NORTH? CHANGE THE DIRECTION BEFORE WITCHES PULL YOUR SOUL OUT!

Decoding Indian Superstitions-Sleeping Directions

This superstition is common to most of the cultures and why not! There is a scientific explanation to it. OK, so nerd glasses on! We all know that our bodies have a magnetic field. (Well, at least now you know.) Earth has a magnetic field of its own as well. While sleeping with your head towards north, the orientation of both magnetic fields causes abnormal blood pressure and often, dizziness. Can’t say much about witches, but there is no harm in following this one for a goodnight sleep!

3. I AM MENSTRUATING. I NEED TO GO TO THE KITCHEN. BUT. I AM MENSTRUATING.

Decoding Indian Superstitions

This is probably the most gruesome and irksome one! To begin with, this is a result of ignorant and dead from the neck up attitude. What started as a thoughtful and considerate gesture somehow turned into an ugly tradition. Centuries back when sanitary napkins and tampons were yet to be introduced, it was pretty difficult for women to go about doing household chores during ‘that time’ of the month. To save them from all the pain and uneasiness it was suggested that they take some time off (till they are ready to rock again)

But soon enough words like impurity, tagged along and completely ruined it.

So girls, menstruating or not, go to the kitchen and make what-ever you want to, visit that temple if it soothes you! (And if anyone starts with teaching you about impurity, show them why not to mess with a bleeding vagina!)

4. I BROKE A MIRROR. 7 YEAR BAD LUCK DA-YUM!

Decoding Indian Superstitions-Broke a Mirror

Imagine looking at your supreme self in the mirror and.. oops! It slips off your hand (or for whatever god damn reason) and shatters into pieces. It is said if so happens, you just invited SEVEN YEARS of bad luck. Too much for a broken mirror right? Well the reason behind this is that when mirror was introduced, people were really fascinated by it. Also, it was worth a hefty sum. So when someone broke a mirror it took another 7 years of savings to buy another one.

Broke a mirror? Chill. Just turn on the selfie mode of your cell phone and adore yourself as much as you want! (Make sure you don’t break the phone, because this would definitely invite bad luck!)

5. CAN FORGET CV FOR AN INTERVIEW BUT CURD AND SUGAR? Naaaah!

Decoding Indian Superstitions-Curd and Sugar

This is hands down the most common one out of all! Be it a trip, an examination, interview or an important meeting; nobody dares to leave home without curd and sugar. As sweet as this superstition is, it is believed that intake of curd and sugar before an important task calms your mind and hence works out to keep you cool and composed to nail it!

Not to mention, damn yum it is!

There are many such superstitions which still puzzle our minds! Atleast these are the ones we decoded for now for you now. This might sound oxymoron-ish but looks like not all superstitions are illogical!

Though some of them are of no use now, others should really be made incumbent! Above all, these were made to make our life easy and smooth therefore, superstitions should never rule over humans and humanity but the other way around!

0

By Pranjal Govekar

10 GIFs That Prove Aditya 369 Was The Coolest Film Of The 90s

0
Aditya 369,Balakrishna,NBK

Released in 1991, Aditya 369 captured the imagination of an entire generation of kids. For the first time, a film about time travel came on the screens, fueling a million dreams on impressionable minds.

But it wasn’t a serious, science-fiction film. Aditya 369 managed to retain the essence of Telugu cinema – funny dialogues, elaborate song and dances, comedians, and a love triangle – while at the same time giving us a wildly thrilling film that opened up the boundaries of imagination.

It is not surprising that Jandhyala wrote the dialogues of the film, and the scenes still make us roar with laughter.

Here are 10 GIFs that will take you back to your childhood, in the time machine of memories.

When we see the Time Machine for the first time.

Very smartly, Singeetham Srinivas Rao decided to place the film in the distant future. If he had shown us a vision of 2020, it would seem outdated today.

But Aditya 369 opened our minds to the ideas of time travel and future. In fact, while going back home from the movie, and for many many nights after watching it, we all fantasized about a time machine.

In its own way, Aditya 369 taught us to dream, to weave stories, to live an alternate life.

After all, isn’t that what movies aim to do!!

Patang Song

Sankranthi – if you are a Hyderabadi, then this festival is a festival of kites. Day in and day out we spend hours flying kites.

‘Arey naadhi naamam dhar patang ra.. nedhi dappan. Musukoni naadhi naku ichei… lekapothe G pagalgodatha..’

From a kid to his eldest brother who would probably an IT professional, when it comes to flying kites, we are all the same.

At last finding a song for this awesome fun-filled occasion is like finding an oasis in the desert. Roll Rida, city’s famous Telugu rapper has teamed up with Kamran and dished out a cool song ‘Patang’. With some desi hip-hop beats, the song gets you grooving from the initial beat itself. The ek dum hydrawaadi lyrics in this song gives you a proper flavour of the celebrations around Patangs (especially in Hyderabad).

Without wasting time, you’ve got to check this awesome colourful song. Kudos the chichas  who came up with the some awesome lyrics.

Amitabh Bachchan to replace Aamir Khan as the ambassador of Incredible India

0
Aamir Khan Incredible India

Aamir Khan, who has been in the eye of controversy for the last year for his comments on social media, has been removed as the ambassador of the Incredible India campaign.

Surprisingly, Aamir Khan also featured on the list for the most hated celebrities in India just a few days ago. Ever since he has commented about intolerance in India, Aamir Khan has been trolled by social media for failing to ‘stand up’ for the nation.

Aamir Khan’s ‘Incredible India’ campaign ran for nearly ten years. It has been revealed that Aamir Khan was signed through an advertising agency – McCann Erickson – and the period of the contract has expired.

Aamir Khan, however, has suggested that India will remain incredible irrespective of his contribution to the campaign or not. “It is the prerogative of the government to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and if so, who that ambassador should be. I respect the decision of the government to discontinue with my services,” Aamir Khan is reported to have said.

Amitabh Bachchan has earlier been the ambassador for Gujarat Tourism, and other Public Service Announcement campaigns such as the Polio Eradication programme.

Ban On Jallikattu Lifted Irks Animal Welfare Organisations

0

The union govt. has lifted the ban on Jallikattu, a famous sport in Tamil Nadu during Pongal. The event which was cancelled last year has been given a nod by altering a Ministry of Environment notification in 2011.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change came out with a notification which exempted Jallikattu from performances for which bulls should not be used. Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan announced this on twitter after Union Environment Minister Prakash Javedkar informed him about the exemption made.

Jallikattu, which is bull-baiting or bull cuddling/holding was a popular sport amongst warriors during the Tamil classical period. It is a sport that is used as a platform to display bravery. However, the Animal Welfare Board of India, PETA and other animal welfare organisations are irked with the centre’s decision.

Earlier it was the Environment Ministry who banned the use of bulls in such sports. This U-turn by the Environment Ministry is likely to be challenged in the Supreme Court by Animal Welfare Board of India. Till then it’s a celebration for the people in Tamil Nadu who have been looking forward to this Pongal to rejuvenate the sport.

Girl rescued Twitter

A girl was rescued as her traffickers were whisking her away in a train, thanks to an alert co-passenger who informed the authorities through Twitter.

The incident came to light onboard the Telangana SF Express which was going from Hyderabad to New Delhi. The victim, a teenage girl who originally hails from West Bengal informed a co-passenger that she was being taken to Delhi against her will.

The co-passenger tweeted the image to the Indian Railways Twitter Handle – @RailMinIndia – and within forty minutes, the Indian Railways authorities had the situation under control.

I never thought I’d say this, but good job, Indian Railways!

If you are genuinely impressed note down these two Twitter handles – @RailMinIndia and @sureshpprabhu. You never know when they might come handy!

0
western sydney university ad

Every year, there are advertisements that are funny, moving, or smart.

This advertisement by the Western Sydney University is both moving, and emphasises on the importance of education. Following a dramatized version of the life story of Deng Thiak Adut, a child from Sudan who transformed his life through education, the ad-film seems more of an advertisement for education, than a particular university.

The advertisement is even more apt for the times we live in, when massive migrations to the tune of millions is a reality all over the world. It also sheds light on the plight of young children who are drawn into the ugly reality of a nation in crisis.

The ad has drawn more than a million views on YouTube, with commenters curious to know how the story ends. Did it have a happy ending? Have a look for yourself!

10 GIFs That Show The Grace In Chiru’s Dance Is Unbeatable

Talking about Chiru’s dance is nothing new. But, on the other side we never get bored watching him dance. His grace, his elan, his style has earned him a special place which cannot be occupied by anyone in the Telugu film industry. One of the main reasons Chiru went up the fame ladder to become what he is today is because of his dance. He doesn’t just replicate the choreographer’s steps, he adds his flavour of grace and style to it.

Chiru’s dance steps have been tried by many of us for a number of times. Some might have got it right, some of us might be struggling even till date. But, no one can do it the way Chiru does it. The style of moving head or shoulders with that slight grace belongs only to Chiru. Here are few of them that shows his class, style and grace.

Delhi govt. bans management quota in private schools

0
Delhi schools management quota

If you are a parent of a young child, you’d know how difficult it is to get your child admitted in a school, even at the nursery levels.

You have to first go through an elaborate interview as a parent, followed by another elaborate interview for your child, after which you’re asked to go through a process where a certain ‘amount’ is asked of you as donation or management quota.

But all of that is going to change as the Delhi government has banned any ‘donations’ or ‘Management Quota’ in private schools, as it has been a bone of contention for millions of parents across the country. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that as much as 75% of seats are being reserved under various names for ‘quotas’, and under the new rule, only 25% reservation will be allowed, and that too for children who belong to economically weaker families.

The Right to Education Act in India promises free and compulsory education to all kids in India had proposed that there be no reservations or selections of any kind in government and private schools. It had however, asked for 25% reservation for students from economically weaker families. Sadly, however, the implementation of the law hasn’t been as expected.

However, this is welcome news for parents of Delhi who will be looking for schools for their children in a few months from now!

Obama breaks down while talking about gun laws

0
Obama gun violence

President of the USA Barack Obama, who is in his final year of presidency, has been pushing for a change in US gun laws.

While he was speaking at the White House about a change in the gun laws, Obama broke down and shed tears, as he was reminded of the horrors that the US has gone through due to people abusing gun laws.

USA has been a victim to a long line of shootings, at schools, colleges, churches and theatres. Sadly, the US media chooses to mask this disturbing trend in a number of ways. Firstly, those who are involved in shootings are never called ‘terrorists’. That is a term we seem to have reserved for ‘Islamic terrorists’. If you notice any US news report, the criminals are always referred to as ‘gunmen’.

This is the 15th time in his two terms that Barack Obama has tried to push for a change in gun laws in the US. Sadly, it is never mentioned as a serious issue either in the US, or outside the country. According to a website – http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/ – which archives cases of gun violence in the US, there are at least ten deaths everyday in the US from incidents of shooting.

The President broke down in between his speech as he remembered young kids who have lost their lives to gun violence. There have been 994 cases of ‘mass shootings’ in the US since Obama came to power.

Owaisi ISIS threat

Indian politician and head of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi has been threatened by supporters of ISIS on Twitter, for his anti-ISIS stance.
Owaisi has earlier made statements that ISIS will not find a place in India and they are not the true face of Islam. His comments found welcome in India, but it apparently angered a few psycho supporters of ISIS on Twitter, who threatened him with dire consequences (Surprise! Surprise!!)
Here are the tweets that were sent to Owaisi:

This was Owaisi’s response to the threat, which we must say, is quite badass!

Owaisi, who leads the AIMIM has been vocal in his opposition to ISIS and other terrorist organizations, and has openly criticized their motives and methods of spreading terror. Kudos!

Netflix launches its services in India! Bye, bye, CD wale bhaiyya!

0
Netflix in India

World’s premier video streaming, online DVD rental company has launched its services in India, which might mean you can safely watch awesome movies and TV shows without the guilt of watching pirated films.

Started by Reed Hastings in 1997, Netflix began as a rental service that concentrated on premium discs and set itself apart from the regular offerings of home rental stores, which were a huge deal back then. Remember that in 1997, the CD market had just begun to boom, and Netflix was considered a huge risk.

However, the company benefited greatly from positive customer feedback and word of mouth publicity, and also from the rise of video streaming services, and the access to internet that has grown rapidly in the last decade.

Today, Netflix has given rise to various other companies in the same domain, and is looked up as one of the best service providing organizations in the world, and last year, delivered its billionth DVD to a customer. The company boasted of revenues over US$ 5.50 billion in the year 2014 and after much anticipation, has launched its services in India.

Whether Indians will accept Netflix’s services on a large scale is a question that will have to wait to be answered, as we are still moving from cable television to DTH services, even in major cities.

Seven hours, 1009 runs. Spare a thought for the bowlers!!

0

Mumbai kid Pranav Dhanawade scored a mind-boggling 1009 runs yesterday in a school match, and has had all of social media twittering about it.
He has been the centre of praise from stalwarts like Sachin and Dhoni, and also the butt of a few jokes. For Eg.

He has been mentioned even in top cricketing websites like Cricinfo, and has had national and international players talking about his performance. However, there is also a flip side to it, as the spotlight is going to be on him for a long time now. In a way, the journey will only get tougher.

Even if he scores a double hundred in the next match, it is going to 800 runs lesser than his previous score. 800 runs. That is more runs Venkatesh Prasad in his entire career for India!

However, amidst all the brouhaha, there is something that nobody seems to be talking about – what about the bowlers?

1009 scorecard

Nobody seems to be sparing a thought for the poor guys. I mean, imagine you’ve just come to play a school game, and it makes you feel like a bonded labourer for two days, just picking up the ball, running to the pitch, getting hammered to the boundary, and then repeating the process another 499 times!
Pranav scored a total of 1009 runs off 327 balls, which involved a total of 129 fours and 59 sixes. To put that in perspective, just imagine this – 22 overs in which every ball was hit for a four. And then another ten overs where every ball was hit for a six!

Imagine what would be going through the bowlers minds! Those poor guys must also be aspiring cricketers as well. I wonder if A. Dubey, who gave away a very nice round figure of 350 runs, is going to be sleeping a very good night’s sleep. He must have dreamt of Pranav dancing down the track and smashing him for sixes, like Warne and Sachin a few decades back.

Or Salunke, Bedekar, and H. Jadhav, who each gave away 250 runs each. Did they have conversations between themselves, these kids? Did one of them walk up to the other in between and say, ‘Dude, WTF is going on? This seems like EA Cricket 2015!’. I am assuming once the guy reached 600 runs or so, the bowlers just took it upon themselves to see how far they could push it.

Jadhav, Bedekar and Dubey weren’t great with the bat either, if you look at the scorecard carefully. Between them, they batted for a total of seven deliveries, and scored a grand total of zero runs!

What about the coach of the opposing school – Arya Gurukul (CBSE)?

Did he get his boys into a huddle and inspire them? And what do you even say? ‘Guys, what do I say? I’m sure you can read the scoreboard. Play your natural game’.

Well, things didn’t get any better for the poor blokes. In the second innings, Bedekar, Dubey, and Jadhav batted for a total of six deliveries, and scored…ahem, how do I put it? What is India’s greatest contribution to the world of mathematics?

Yeah, you get the point.

Opposition batting04mumbai-dhanawade

At the end of what must have seemed like a long Kurukshetra war, the match came to an end. With KC Gandhi English School beating Arya Gurukul by an innings and 1382 runs – a victory so brutal, even Mahatma Gandhi would have said, ‘Ab bas kar, pagle’.

An innings and 1382 runs! I wonder if the coach of the opposition team walked into a bar that night and had two beers and thought about his life.

I wonder how those kids in the opposition team are taking it. Are they rethinking their choices in life? Did one of their fathers call them to the side and say, ‘Dekho beta. Let’s go through the scorecard one more time, and then we’ll get the Engineering Coaching books’.

I hope they’re playing it cool.

Keep the fire burning, Bedekar, Dubey and Jadhav. My prayers are with you!

Kejriwal ranks No.1 on the Most Hated Indians list!

0
most hated indians list

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal earned the unfortunate tag of the most hated Indians, joined in the list by Congress minister Rahul Gandhi and actor Aamir Khan, as polled by the Goonj India Index 2015.

The survey took into consideration Google Search, social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, and other platforms like YouTube and news sites.

Arvind Kejriwal continues to remain in the news for some reason or the other, and the constant media attention seems to have tired a lot of people, who were earlier admirers of the Delhi CM and his party – Aam Aadmi Party.

Rahul Gandhi has been in media mentions for a long time too, primarily as the principal opponent to Narendra Modi in the 2014 Prime Ministerial elections. Actor Aamir Khan has been in the news for his comments in the intolerance debate. Others who found a mention in the list were news anchor Arnab Goswami, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, and BJP honcho Amit Shah.

Shane Warne was one of the members of the panel, and he was also a member of the opposition team during the match.

Remembering Uday Kiran – The First Chocolate Boy In Telugu!

0

If you spent your high school (Intermediate) in the early years of this millennium, Uday Kiran will occupy some space in your memories. Those movies that you watched with friends, the craze he got among the girls in your class or his songs. He was a breath of fresh air to the screens in Telugu. He might not have been an outstanding performer, but he had the charm and carried that modesty with his innocent looks.

Fate played its ugly game on this actor and we lost him last year. If you go back in the memory lane, he shot to exceptional fame with his first three movies. There seemed no one stopping him, but unfortunately he started to fade by losing opportunities. The reasons to this are still unknown, though most of us are aware that he got engaged to Chiru’s daughter. Post that, everything is a blur about Uday Kiran. There is no need to peep into personal affairs of stars as they are humans like us too. Mistakes happen, we fall or we are pushed down. Your only belief should be in yourself to dream bigger and aim tirelessly to materialise your dreams. Vokay, class peekthalemu kaani, Uday Kiran undi bounce back aithe chudalani chala mandi lo nenu okadini. Pssst.. he left us!

It’s a fifty mile trip just for trekkers who wish to trek through flower meadows and thick forests and hike in fair weather conditions through a gradual gradient within the valley and is comparatively easier than Himalayan trails where you have got to navigate from one valley to the other.

Geographically it’s situated within the Garhwal Himalayas, the Har Ki Doon valley is cradle shaped however you can not see its form once on the ground! There are varied snow coated peaks in this place. The alpine vegetation is one in all the prime attractions in these regions. The valley is snow clad and mostly avoided throughout October to March. The hiking trails through this valley meet up with nightlong camping spot like Seema, Gangaad and not to forget Osla. If you’re hiking here during the monsoon season, the Tamsa stream, which you’ll encounter on the way, is swollen and flows at full capacity. More into the path, it bends into gorges and Cedrus deodar forests. You’ll like it better to stop at Torluka as from Torkula, the path gets harder. You’ll have to be compelled to navigate through this rugged piece of land to ultimately reach Osla.

Chris Gayle apologises for flirting with female commentator

Chris Gayle flirt

Chris Gayle, who is one of the flashiest cricketers of this era, has been in a soup for his comments at a female commentator during a Big Bash League match presentations.

Chris Gayle’s team Melbourne Renegades had just won their match over Hobart Hurricanes, when Gayle was asked for his comments by Network Ten journalist Mel McLaughlin. Gayle reportedly replied saying, “I just wanted to have an interview with you as well, that’s why I batted so well. Your eyes are beautiful, hopefully we can have a drink. Don’t blush baby’.

Anthony Everard, the Head of the Big Bash League, replied on Twitter that Gayle’s comments were disrespectful and inappropriate.

Gayle has since said that his comments have been blown out of proportion, and there was no offence meant.

Madrasa teacher thrashed for teaching students National Song

0
Madrasa teacher

While the intolerance debate has died down in the last few weeks, one incident seems to raise questions on our nature as a tolerant society.

A Madrasa headmaster in Talpukur Aara High Madrasa (West Bengal), Kazi Masum Akhtar has been thrashed by Muslim clerics for teaching the students the National Song. It has been reported that he has been asked to grow a beard and wear traditional clothes if he wants to continue as a Madrasa teacher.

It has also come to light that this is not the first time that Akhtar, who bats for education of girls, has faced threats and violence for his beliefs. He has reported that he had spoken to the Chief Minister and the Chairman of the State Minorities Commission, but nothing came of it.

While the news story has been splashed over social media in the last few days, no action has been taken yet.

We might have private train operators in India’s bullet train corridor

If you’ve ever travelled through Indian Railways and wondered what on earth was going on, here’s some good news for you.

Very soon, the Government might approve private train operators to operate on India’s first bullet-train corridor. The move has been approved by the Cabinet, and according to this report in the Indian Express the Indian government will operate the trains for the first five years, after which it will be handed over to private train operators to manage.

The deadline for India’s bullet train project has been set at 2022, and according to the report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a special interest to see that the project is on time. The project was undertaken in collaboration with Japan, which is assisting India in a number of projects, including the formation of Amaravati, the new capital for Chandrababu Naidu’s Andhra Pradesh, that is being built for scratch.

The present move is a big sigh of relief for those who doubted the government’s ability to maintain and run the bullet train corridor, especially with the way Indian Railways has been run so far.

Hyderabad to have multi-level flyovers

0
Hyderabad multi-level flyovers

Hyderbad’s busiest roads are all set to witness a terrific makeover, as the Telangana Chief Minister laid the foundation for multi-level flyovers at three different parts of the city.

Multi-level flyovers are common in Western countries where there is a lot of traffic. Hyderabad, which was recently voted the best Indian city to live in, is all set to add another feather to its bejewelled cap with this step.

Also in the pipeline are skywalks, and signal-less junctions. Multi-level flyovers are a good way to ensure that the heavy traffic in a city are managed in a less chaotic manner. A lot of Indian cities are already facing a lot of traffic congestion problems due to the lack of proper planning.

The foundation stone was laid at KBR Park in Banjara Hills and at Mindspace and Rajiv Park in Hitec City areas in Hyderabad. This will be a welcome relief for commuters in Hyderabad, who have been waiting for the Hyderabad Metro Rail to become functional for a few years now.

The Fitoor trailer proves Amit Trivedi is back with a bang

0
Fitoor trailer

Amit Trivedi, who stormed into the lives of Indian music fans with the God-awesome Dev D, seems all set to make a comeback with a splash, if the Fitoor trailer is anything to go by.

Starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, Fitoor is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, who earlier directed Rock On and Kai Po Che, both of which did stupendously well at the Box Office. Abhishek Kapoor is known for films that get a favourable response from both viewers as well as critics, which is a rarity in India, as the highest grossers are generally panned by critics.

If the Fitoor trailer is anything to go by, the story is set in Kashmir, and also stars the immensely talented Tabu, who plays Katrina’s guardian. The first thing that strikes you about the trailer is Amit Trivedi’s background score and music.

Amit Trivedi didn’t have a great outing with Shaandaar, but it looks like he might be kicking this right out of the park. Here’s the awesome trailer for the film, which is all set to release on February 12, 2016.

Spice Jet to pay 60K to passenger for missing luggage

0
Spice Jet consumer court

Spice Jet, one of India’s premier private airways company, has run into legal soup, as they have been asked by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to pay compensation of Rs. 60,000 to a passenger for his missing luggage.

The beneficiary is Agartala resident Dr Atanu Ghosh, who lost one of his five luggage items on a Spice Jet flight. Luggage loss in transit in airports is fairly common, as we do not have strong customer protection mechanisms in place, like Western countries like US and UK, where the items are often insured.

However, Dr. Atanu Ghosh persisted and filed a case in the consumer court, and was granted a compensation of Rs. 60,000 from the popular airlines company for the physical loss, as well as the inconvenience caused.

If you ever face any problem in an airport from now on, you know what to do. Just show them this article and let them know what’s in store!

Airlift might be the first big hit of 2016

0
Airlift theatrical trailer,Airlift, Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur

Airlift starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur, has been one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

Partly because it sees Akshay Kumar going back to the genre of action films, after asinine comedies, and also partly because it is based on true events – the evacuation of Indians during the Iraq-Kuwait war of 1990.

Iraq had invaded Kuwait and an emergency situation followed amidst panic and chaos. In an astounding feat of bravery, 111,000 people were evacuated from Kuwait to Mumbai. A total of 488 flights were used to cover a total distance of 4117 kilometres.

The film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and is set to release on January 26th, Republic Day.

7 Telugu Movies That Took Off But Failed To Land For A Release

0
pawan kalyan in chapel lane undhe

How will it be like when you are all ready to start bursting crackers, but the festival never dawns for you? – It does feel bad!

Telugu cinema has its share of projects that took off but didn’t manage to land back safely for a release. For unknown reasons, movies which started off with big names, halted abruptly. As movie lovers, if we still remember those movies that halted, one can imagine the fate of our actors involved.

Their hard work and most importantly time had gone into the drain. But, they never looked back at bad memories. Rough phases do come across in every walk of life. When they don’t have the fate to be part of your timeline, just let them go. Some of those rough projects that started off initially,  but pulled mana heroes a bit back are here:

SATYAGRAHI – PAWAN KALYAN, AM RATNAM & AR RAHMAN

1

This is a film that questions the atrocities in the society. PK is known for standing up and raising his voice on social issues. This film was set to be directed by PK himself. It had AR Rahman to score the music and PC Sriram to handle the camera. Unfortunately this project never saw the light.

CHEPALANI UNDHI – PAWAN KALYAN & AMISHA PATEL

2

Rumoured to be the movie in place of Nuvve Kavali, the movie couldn’t see the light too. Pawan Kalyan and Amesha Patel were casted second time for this supposed-to-be college romance which was shelved.

THE RETURN OF THE THIEF OF BAGDAD – CHIRU & SURESH KRISHNA

chiru (1)

A much hyped movie which was also the first time Chiru was going international. But, speculations on one religion’s sentiments forced the movie to be halted. Suresh Krishna was the director of this film.

NARTHANASALA – BALAKRISHNA & SOUNDARYA

5

Balayya’s dream project, Narthanasala had Soundarya playing Draupadi. The sudden demise of Soundarya forced Balayya to alter his plans.

GOLIPURAM RAILWAY STATION – VENKATESH AND VAMSI

6

Director Vamsi who is known for his situational comedy movies made a subject ready for Venkatesh. This was the first time director Vamsi was roping in a big star for a movie of his. Unfortunately, this movie never materialised.

CHIRU & RGV UNTITLED MOVIE

3

The movie which was planned by C Aswini Dutt also had few portions of the movie shot. It was RGV who made an exit from the project because of his commitments with Bollywood.

CHIRU & SINGEETHAM SRINIVAS

4

The film which was tentatively titled Bhooloka Veerudu. After shooting major portions of the movie, since Chiru was not convinced with the output, it was shelved.

Sai Dharma Tej’s Supreme Teaser Looks Racy And Raw!!

0
Sai Dharma Tej's Supreme Teaser

Before KS Rama Rao insisted on getting the tag ‘Megastar’ for Chiru, he was called ‘Supreme Hero’. With the title Supreme, Sai Dharma Tej is coming out with a movie under the direction of Anil Ravipudi of Pattas fame. The teaser was released on Youtube and the 25 seconds video is worth every frame. Unlike earlier ‘Dil’ Raju movies which were mostly family entertainers, this one seems to be more on the racy side.

Sai Dharma Tej is seen in the signature red jacket and white leather trouser, the attire Chiranjeevi dons in the original. The song Supreme Hero from Yamudiki Mogudu that already had its share of craze back in the 1980s will be remixed in this one. Sai Dharma Tej, who is banking of series of successes from ‘Dil’ Raju’s production house, seems to be on a roll with this one as a hattrick.

And don’t forget to check out the background score for this one.

Mohammad Amir comeback

Tainted fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who as an 18 year old, was caught in the infamous spot-fixing scandal, has made a comeback to the Pakistan cricket team for T20s and ODIs for the upcoming New Zealand tour.

Mohammad Amir has been a controversial figure, with experienced players Mohammad Hafeez and captain Azhar Ali earlier having refused to take part in net practice due to Amir’s presence. However, after negotiations between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials and senior cricketers, net practice resumed with Mohammad Amir as part of the team.

Mohammad Amir had been a part of then captain Salman Butt’s infamous scheme to bowl no-balls, and while the other players were given life-bans (which was then revoked), Mohammad Amir was given a much shorter sentence of five years.

Mohammad Amir, in his short international career, had won the hearts of fans and critics, as he was identified as a youngster who could grow on to become the next Pakistan fast bowling legend.

India fastest growing economy

The New Year began on a positive note for India Inc., as the Chief Economic Advisor Mr. Arvind Subramaniam revealed that India is the fastest growing economy, in spite of four devastating droughts experienced this year.

India has overtaken China as the fastest growing economy in the world, in spite of opposition criticism that the actual growth rate hasn’t exceeded 7 to 7.3 percent. Calling the Indian economy a ‘car running on two wheels’, Mr. Chidambaram of the Indian National Congress criticized the Central Government’s economic policy.

However, in reply, Mr. Arvind Subramaniam tweeted the message – Despite declining global demand & 4 droughts, (India has emerged as) fastest growing economy.

Flipkart starts selling motorcycles on its website

0
Flipkart motorcycles

If you log in to Flipkart today, and find motorcycles being sold for Rs. 3000, don’t be shocked.

The e-commerce giant Flipkart has begun selling motorcycles on its website, after tying up with motorcycle distributors. As of now, the website shows Bajaj motorcycles and Maruti Suzuki cars.

The online retail space in India has been witnessing stiff competition in the last few years. Last year, it was reported that Snapdeal had sold a flat worth 1 crore through its website. While ecommerce was so far looked at as a convenient way to order electronics or books, the trend is clearly moving towards larger transactions, as companies make larger products and services available on their sites.

Flipkart’s decision to sell motorcycles comes close on the heels of Snapdeal, which also began selling automotives on its website, under the banner Snapdeal Motors. However, here’s a disclaimer. The 3,000 amount you find under that Ninja motorcycle, is only the ‘Booking Price’.

Sorry about the KLPD! 😀

Virat Kohli is highest paid IPL cricketer this year. Does he deserve it?

0
Virat Kohli 2016 IPL salary

Indian Test captain Virat Kohli has become the most expensive cricketer in this edition of IPL, earning a pay package of 15 crores.

This year’s pay packages were much smaller than last year’s, when Yuvraj Singh was paid a whopping 16 crores by the Delhi Daredevils, and Dinesh Karthik was the second highest paid cricketer with 12 lakhs. Sadly, both the teams have released the players from their contracts, clearly indicating that the prices are too high for the teams.

Virat Kohli’s pay package is higher than those of other big stars like MS Dhoni (12.5 crores), Shikhar Dhawan (12.5 crores), and Gautam Gambhir (10 crores). But does Virat Kohli deserve this amount?

Kohli’s last outing with his home team RCB was good, but not the best in the league. His total tally of 505 runs was the fifth highest in the league, but whether it deserves the highest amount is up for question.

While it is without doubt that Kohli draws in big crowds for all the matches, the same team also has AB de Villiers, who was voted the best player of 2015 by the ICC. AB is getting paid about 9.5 crores. Similarly, other players who have done very well in the IPL, like Australia’s David Warner who scored the most runs, doesn’t feature even in the Top 10 list of salaries.

However, one thing is clear. With Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik being released from their sides this year, the age of sky-rocketing salaries are over. It looks like the owners of the sides are willing to bet on actual performances, and not past reputations.

Pakistani singer Adnan Sami granted Indian citizenship

Adnan Sami

Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, who has been pursuing a career in music and film in India since the early 2000s, has finally been granted Indian citizenship by the Indian Home Ministry on humanitarian grounds.

Adnan Sami was a very popular singer in the mid 2000s, as his albums sold millions of copies, even as piracy and digital CDs had begun eating into the market of audio cassettes. Adnan Sami also gave music for a few films, and was a regular in the playback singing industry as well.

Adnan Sami’s roots originate in Pakistan and Canada, and before becoming a star in India, Adnan Sami was known for his insane keyboard playing skills. There have also been reports that Adnan Sami has insured his fingers for millions of dollars.

Adnan Sami also hosted shows on television, and has also featured in advertisements for popular brands like Pepsi Cola. When he was questioned about the raging intolerance debate, Adnan Sami had replied that he wouldn’t have applied for an Indian citizenship if he thought there was any intolerance in the country.

Welcome, Adnan. Hope you enjoy your stay in our country!

Venkatesh Welcomes Mohanlal To Telugu Cinema. 2016 Is Already Exciting!!

0
Mohanlal, Venkatesh

Mohanlal’s dedication towards acting shows in every character he portrays. Not many of us might have actually watched many of his movies, but Mani Rathnam’s Iddaru is a classic that will remain one of the most respected movies in Telugu, although it was dubbed.

This year already looks exciting with Mohanlal doing two movies in Telugu. One with NTR Jr. under the direction of Koratala Siva and another Manamantha, a trilingual (Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam) co-starring Goutami Haasan, which will be helmed by Chandrashekar Yeleti. So, in the year 2016, Mohanlal will be doing a lot of ‘Telugu talking’.

Like always, he is not an individual who will just come on time to the sets and do his job. He is an ACTOR. An actor who knows what a character requires, the effort it needs and the dedication he loves to give in.

Expressing about his homework, the Malayalam Legend posted an image of him learning Telugu ‘తెలుగు నేర్చుకోవడం’ recently on Facebook.

Mohanlal

To which mana Venky replied ‘తెలుగు చలన చిత్ర పరిశ్రమకు స్వాగతం మోహన్ లాల్ గారు 🙂 ’

Mohanlal Venkatesh Reply

The year is just about to begin and Mohanlal’s Telugu movies for the year 2016 is already exciting us.

Good Luck Mohanlal Sir!! Welcome, again!!

Killing Veerappan : Will RGV Get Back His Touch?

0

After a series of debacles, RGV’s Killing Veerappan has garnered some positive buzz around the social media. The New Year 2016 is all set to begin with this biographical film on the dangerous dacoit Veerappan.

The film is based on the ‘Operation Cocoon’, which was launched to nab the dacoit in the Sathyamangalam Forest. It features Siva Rajkumar, the biggie in Kannada Industry who is the central role of the film playing Senthamarai Kannan, the Superintendent of Police and the mastermind behind Operation Cocoon.

The interest it is creating on social media has only turned positive for Ramu. He himself expressed this.

Sandeep Bharadwaj’s transformation as Veerappan is simply unbelievable. RGV in his latest tweet revealed the actor.

He also explained the subject line on which the movie is based.

Now, this is an interesting point!

The experience of watching a RGV movie has been lost in the memory lane for the repeated disappointments he gave us. Surprisingly Ramu has not been doing the unnecessary hungama which he usually does ahead of his movies. We hope Killing Veerappan will rejuvenate his touch!

Nine Founder-CEOs write to TRAI to promote Net Neutrality

Founder CEOs of nine startup companies in India have gotten together to write to Telecom Authority of India (TRAI), speaking for net neutrality, even as Facebook’s Free Basics campaign has been gaining a lot of negative feedback.

Facebook’s Free Basics campaign has caused a stir in the past week, as the social media giant has been accused of trampling over basic Net Neutrality ethics by promoting its campaign as a means for Indians to access the internet.

However, the campaign caused a furore over Twitter and Facebook (Ironic!), as it was just a rehash of the earlier Internet.org campaign which had caused a similar reaction. Arguably India’s most famous stand up comedy collective – AIB – had launched a series of videos intended to bring out the truth, and educate netizens about the fine lines in the campaign.

AIB came up with yet another video recently about the Free Basics campaign.

Further backing the campaign for net neutrality, nine CEOs of startup companies have written to TRAI. The list includes Deepinder Goyal of Zomato, Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm, Sachin Bhatia of TrulyMadly, Faisal Farooqui of Mouthshut.com, Vishal Gondal of GOQii, Vineet Dwivedi of FlipClass.com, Alok Agarwal of Teesort.com and Bharat Gulia of Metis Learning.

Spending His Own Money, KCR’s Chandi Yagam Wins Many Hearts

0

The Chief Minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao performed the Ayuta Chandi Yagam recently as a thanksgiving to Goddess Chandi for blessing with a separate state. It was a 5 day Yagam from 23rd to 27th December performed at KCR’s farm house in Erravalli village of Medak District.

Ayutha Chandi Yagam is a difficult task and this was only the second time in history it has been performed. It consists of 700 slokas to be recited 10,000 times. Earlier it was performed by the Sringeri Peetham in 2011. It was performed under the supervision of six vedic pundits from the Sringeri Peetham.

According to the sources, more than 5 lac devotees came to the venue to witness the Maha Yagam, which was supervised by the Chief Minister himself. KCR personally flew down to Amaravathi in order to invite Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The Yagam which was also performed for the well being of the state has turned out to be a successful one. Though there was a minor fire mishap that took place, the Religious guru Swarupananda Swamy and renowned avadhani Madugula Nagaphani Sarma told Chief Minister KCR that the fire mishap was not a obstacle to his will (sankalpam) and vision. The process had almost come to an end when the fire broke down.

These rituals might have their importance and the beliefs attached to it. But, spending his own money for the better being of his state is a gesture that will definitely win the Chief Minister many hearts.

KCR also vowed that if the projects worth Rs. 25,000 crore that he has taken up materialises, he will perform the Prayutha Chandi Yagam. Now, he is one people’s man!

The Most Favourite Childhood WWE Superstars

0
childhood WWE superstars

WWE was originally called WWF – World Wrestling Federation – but the name had to be changed as it wasn’t a real federation, and also because it had the same name as World Wildlife Fund. The name change happened in 2002, when the World Wildlife Foundation sued the organization for copyright infringement.

Since the inception of the WWF in the year in the year 1979 (yes, the organization is THAT old!), there have been a number of superstars who have come and gone, but we are focusing on the stars who ruled the roost in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Here’s our list of the favourite childhood WWE superstars:

5. Hulk Hogan:

1

By the late 90s, Hulk Hogan was a spent force. He was already in his late 40s, and couldn’t do much in the ring. However, he kept coming back for special matches (like the legendary match with The Rock). Hulk Hogan is often considered the face of WWE before John Cena became the face of the organization. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair were the only wrestlers from the golden age of wrestling – the 80s – when wrestling actually broke out in a major way.

Hulk Hogan didn’t do much in the ring, but his special appearances were quite special, as he took potshots at players, cheated, or provided comic relief.

4. Stone Cold Steve Austin:

2Nobody epitomized ‘badass’ as Stone Cold Steve Austin. The man with the most dramatic entrance during the time made it a point to steal the scene every time he came on to the ring.

Steven James Anderson played the role of Steve Austin who liked taking ‘panga’ with the authorities, especially the boss Vince McMahon. The ‘Attitude Era’ was best symbolized by Steve Austin’s results, as he proved that being a ‘good boy’ was of no good in the field.

A favourite with the crowds, Steve Austin would do his trademark move with a beer can, and then proceed to craziness. His finishing move – The Stunner – was also a favourite with the crowds. All in all, Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of the best parts of the ‘Attitude Era’, which was probably the best phase of the WWE.

3. John Cena:

3Even though he wasn’t a big star back then, John Cena is the only existing link between our childhood wrestling days and today. John Felix Anthony Cena, who is credited for being a decorated marine officer (but in reality he only trained for the Marines, and didn’t serve with them), is the face of wrestling today.

Ever since WWE dropped the ‘Attitude Era’ policy and adopted a more PG 13, family audience friendly routine, John Cena has climbed up the ladder in WWE and is the main draw for fans across all ages. However, the man is known to be a really good guy off the ring, and is credited with fulfilling the most number of wishes for ‘Make a Foundation’, with over 500 wishes fulfilled.

2. The Rock:

The Rock is probably the biggest superstar in Hollywood today, and the only wrestler to successfully make the transition from wrestling to acting in a big way.

But back in the day, The Rock was known for his swag more than anything else. The Rock had a killer signature line, and used it in the most dramatic way possible. The Rock belongs to a family of wrestlers, with even his grandfather being a professional wrestler.

Even though The Rock made his debut in 1995, he only made it big in the late 90s, when he was crowned as the People’s Champion, and has been entertaining fans ever since. If you ask your school friends, all of them will agree that The Rock was the favourite wrestler in school, except for maybe the No.1 on our list…

1. DX:

DX, comprising of two WWE Hall of Famers – Shawn Michaels and Triple H – was a favourite with schoolboys because they resembled the backbenchers of the school. Forever breaking rules, getting all the female attention, and being completely badass about it.

The DX was voted the greatest Tag Team Champions of all time, and it’s not without reason. DX completely transformed the way wrestling was shown on TV. Earlier, Vince McMahon was the Supreme God of the WWE, and his will was the word. However, with the arrival of DX, all of that changed.

Their antics, and also the fact that Shawn Michaels and Triple H were probably the greatest performers at that time, resulted in DX becoming the most sought after performers in the WWE during our childhood.

Maternity Leave to increase from 12 to 26 weeks

0
Maternity leave

Good news for women employees, with maternity leave to increase from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, as the government is set to tweak the guidelines regarding maternity leave.

Women and Child development minister Maneka Gandhi announced the scheme. “We had written to the Labour Ministry asking that the maternity leave be extended taking into account the six months of breastfeeding that is required post childbirth. The Labour Ministry has agreed to increase it to six-and-a-half months” according to a report in Indiatimes.com.

In a report in 2010, it was reported that India has about 23% of women workforce in the corporate sector. However, over the last decade, the number of women in corporate offices has risen sharply.

This news is sure to bring joy to the millions of Indian women who work in corporate offices. This is a welcome move, as even the most developed countries of the world like USA, Switzerland and New Zealand offer no more than 14 weeks off for maternity leave. With 26 weeks being given as maternity leave, it comes to almost 6 months in the year.

student suicide in Kota
